View Full Version : Hiding Porn

11-12-2006, 01:13 PM
Okay, I can't possibly be the only one here who has this problem.

How do I hide porn on my PC? How can I lock picture files, and/or keep them from showing up in my list of "Recent Documents" ? How do I keep google from displaying my more...um...revealing searches when I type in the first few letters of any search?....How do I prevent internet explorer from showing recent urls that I may not want anyone else to click on?

Of course, I know how to clear history, but clearing history doesn't always prevent all these problems. (Besides, then I get sad when I forget where I found something good. Why isn't it possible to LOCK or password-protect history, so that YOU can see it but unsuspecting family/friends who might be using your computer cannot?)

So I'm a pervert. So shoot me.

Any advice from my fellow sick fucks shall be greatly appreciated.

Turn off autocomplete.

I mean... I don't know. Geez, Nic.

here's I little guideline I just found with google:

As the name implies, this tuturial is meant to show the various ways you can hide your porn from your girlfriend, whether she be a computer noobie or excellent at checking e-mail and chatting on AIM. A lot of these tips won't get you past the programmer type of girlfriend, but some should help. Of course this can be used to hide anything on your computer, not just porn. But, for the sake of entertainment.. this tutorial will use the fine art of porn as an example. Be aware that certain Windows file names will vary depending on the version you are running, but shouldn't be too hard to find. Alternatively you could always ask and someone can help you out. This tutorial was written using ME, but should generally work for any Windows OS.

Lets get started:

1.The most efficient trick is to put all your porn into a single folder(1-1), using sub-folders if you must, and right-click on it. Select Properties (1-2), and put a check mark on Hidden (1-3). Click "Only this folder" so it doesn't hide all of your sub-folders. That would be unnecessary. If you are around a bunch of computer noobs your folder should "disappear" (1-4) visually, but it will still be there and it can still be tracked by others if the measures listed below aren't taken. But if you live with computer illiterate people this should work just fine.
To make the folder reappear, open up My Computer or Windows Explorer and click Tools -> Folder Options (1-5). Click the View (1-6) tab and you should see a grey folder in the Advanced settings box named "Hidden files and folders(1-7). Click the radio button "Show hidden files and folders" and your secret cum stash should reappear. You simply turn this off to hide it again. Sadly most computer users are aware of this, and the majority of them already have hidden files shown. So you must take more drastic measures to protect your snake food..

2. Everytime you download a file, whether it be compressed, avideo, or just pictures, RENAME IT! While it isn't the most clever disguise, your girlfriend is much more likely to click on "JaimeInAssbangers5.mpg" than she would "0001.mpg". Try to do this before the actual download, in the "Save As.." menu so that the "JaimeInAssbangers5.mpg" never touches your computer.
"But my girl is smart.. she knows I look at porn, so she'd eventually catch on with the number thing!" Well bud, you have to be more creative then. I'll leave that for you to figure out on your own.

3. Still, perhaps she is bored and searching around the computer... Do NOT save these files in ANY places that would be concidered obvious to yourself. My Documents, pr0n, and My Pictures are not clever hiding spots. A good place would be to create a folder deep within other folders hidden inside a game directory. Games often have movie and jpg files so they would blend in there, especially if they are numbered "0001.mpg" and so on. Don't bother trying to do this in common places or folders where downloads would normally end up, such a Kazaa's Shared Folder. Any girl with half a brain will find them in a few minutes. Yes, even yours.

4. So you've done this... but she's still finding your porn!! Thats because every time you look at one of your naughty little pictures they show up in the Start -> Documents (4-1) menu! All she has to do is check that after you get off the computer and she can easily figure out which girls you find more attractive than her. So what do you do? Delete them you fool. Thats right! Click Start -> Documents, and right-click on each dirty movie you watched and click delete. "But, but.. I want to keep my precious porn!", you say? Worry not my horny little friend, deleting them from the Documents menu doesn't delete them from your hard drive. They are right where you left them.

5. But now you find yourself with another problem. You've had an extra busy day and you've looked at so much that the entire Documents menu is full of porn, and deleting them one at a time is quite annoying. Assuming you did the smart thing and renamed your files to something inconspicuous, like "christmas004.jpg" instead of "chrissysass.jpg", you have no worries. Simply grab all of the files that you looked at, hopefully all in the same folder, and move them to another location hidden on your computer. The shortcuts in the Documents menu will still be looking for a file in the old place which doesn't exist anymore. Pray to the searching flashlight, it is your savior.

6. "Well.. what about me, I don't download porn. I just look at websites!" For you Johnny, we have a different solution. If you haven't already, download Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org) and make it your dedicated porn surfing device. Once you have done this simply go to Tools -> Options... (6-1), then expand the History button and set "Remember visited pages for the last * days" to 0 (6-2). Now every time you close the browser it deletes the history, just be sure to close it completely before your girlfriend gets a turn.
While you are here you can set the Cache (6-3) to a low number or turn it off completely, but this can make surfing web pages annoying. Especially if you are on a slow connection. I recommend that if your girlfriend is so sneaky she is going to be checking cache files, you just clear it manually after each whacking. :stroke:
Also, if you are downloading through Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org) just be sure to clear the downloads from the Download Manager after they have completed. You can easily do this directly from the Download Manager by hitting the "Remove" (6-4) link next to a completed download. Oh and by the way, looking at websites is also downloading you idiot.

7. "But I'm a weenie and I don't have Firefox and I only know how to download porn not install programs!" Fine, use Internet Explorer, but you're only making it that much harder for yourself. With IE open go to Tools -> Internet Options... (7-1), then set the "Days to keep pages in history:" (7-2) to 0 The problem with IE is that 0 actually means 1, which means it won't delete the history when you close the browser. It will clear it when your computer clock reaches the next day. You either have to restart/shutdown, or manually clear the history by going back into Internet Options.
Be aware that, unlike Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org), Internet Explorer "History" and "Cache" are one in the same. So once you delete the History you are also deleting your cache. This causes you to have to reload every webpage you have been to lately. I told you that you were only making it harder on yourself.
Also why we are here, why not fix a common problem a lot of you run into when trying to download video porn. Under the Advanced tab in Internet Options, scroll about midway down to the Multimedia sub-section and put a check on "Don't display online media content in the media bar" (7-3). This should prevent the annoying cases of video showing up on the side your explorer at a low resolution instead of downloading like you want it to. But seriously, go get Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org), its free asshat.

8. We have covered a lot so far, but I feel there are still a few people out there who still are feeling their porn is still not safe. There are a few other things you internet pr0n abusers should be aware of.

Cookies can easily tell a person what site you have been looking at, be sure to delete them if you are still getting caught after trying everything else. You could also go into the browser options and block cookies from the particular sites you look at, but this will also blatantly list which site you are looking at. The only option at this point is to delete the cookies (not the folder, just the files inside). You could go through the massive list and delete them one by one, but that is rediculous. Just be prepared to retype in your passwords at LWS and other sites since cookies are what retain this information.

In the "C:\WINDOWS" folder look for the following and check them for any naughty bad bad evidence:
Downloaded Installations
Downloaded Program Files
Favorites (Many sites will automatically put themselves in your favorites list if your browser isn't wearing a rubber, i.e. firewall)
Offline Web Pages (The only pages here SHOULD be ones you put there.. but you never know)
TEMP (If you "Open" a file instead of "Saving As..", it will usually end up here)
Temporary Internet Files (cookies and more)

It should be safe to delete any incriminating files in those folders, but if you aren't completely sure just leave it alone.

Questions may arise about the Windows "Recent" file or other similar ways to find your porn, but all of these should be rendered useless if you have followed the previous steps. Now you should leave behind little more than a faint smell of lonely sex to clue your mother into what you've been doing in your room all day. While it still isn't impossible for your porn to be found, someone would have to be rather determined to catch you now. If your girlfriend is that crazy, perhaps you should start looking for a replacement, or forget real women all together and enjoy all the free porn that is available to us here at LWS.

Fixed some grammar/punctuation

Also helps to know how to remove your history from Windows Media Player (if that is your default player). To remove your history go to start -> run -> regedit -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> software -> Microsoft -> Media Player -> Player -> RecentFileList. Select the files on the right window and right click to select delete.

^LOL, dlab!

I knew you guys would come through for me!

Can't you just make other people use the "guest" account and keep a password on your personal account? That seems to work for me using XP Media Center but I'm single and don't have too many other people using my computer. If you had a lot of porn I suppose you could put it all on an external hard drive which you could then unplug and hide when you have company over.

Try this for files: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/cryptainer.html

Set all folders to view, details. Never ever ever have them come up as thumbnails.

Anyone know how to get rid of the index.dat entries, from the URL bar in either firefox or IE?

11-12-2006, 09:26 PM
When you turn on your computer, you get an option to hit F1 or F12 or Escape or something to enter "Setup". This is your computer's BIOS. In there, there is an option to set a password. Set it. Short of physically removing the battery from your motherboard, no one will get into your computer without the password.

*shrug* I don't want anyone in any of my stuff. Not just the porn.

Going past the basics, I use Zilla Data Nuker and truecrypt. I don't want anything to be found, ever.

Anyone know how to get rid of the index.dat entries, from the URL bar in either firefox or IE?...highlight the entry in the URL bar and hit SHIFT-DELETE.

^^I'd be there longer than my current expected life span.

In addition to the above ideas.

If you are using windows XP make sure that you use separate logons and when you create the account, specify to keep your documents private.

Where ever you store your documents, have your drive formatted in NTFS. Go to the folder and right click . Click properties - advanced and check the encrypt box. This will allow only you to read the files. You might try this on a jump drive also.

Do a search for Norecentdocshistory and how to modify.

Get microsoft Power Toys for XP

There are many programs here you should have. But Tweak UI disables you last documents setting and IE history. yadda yadda yadda. And check out all of the other power toys you get.

Tweak UI

This PowerToy gives you access to system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default user interface, including mouse settings, Explorer settings, taskbar settings, and more.

Version 2.10 requires Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2003.

Denying physical access to the computer is of course the first and foremost rule of any security for a computer. -Some reason I just felt I had to say that.

If you are using Firefox, get the Form History Manager. You can delete all your completion-strings for all forms. Or you can do so selectively. I'm not sure about URLs except to delete them from History, which can be done easily enough. There are probably a bunch of add-ons to do this automatically, but I've not looked.

I use Linux pretty much exclusively for stuff at home and office. Individual account management and file access is so much more sensible in Linux and Unix. As long as you remember to set the correct default "mask" -- which establishes default file and directory permissions as you add new ones.

Now, Nic, the question comes to mind why *you* would wish to hide your porn files!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks, all! :)

It never occurred to me to set a password for my own account and let other folks use the guest account. That should work just fine.

As to why--I've got small niece-and-nephew-type people who sometimes play games or search the net on my PC, and wanted to avoid, y'know, traumatizing them for life. :O

11-26-2006, 03:55 PM

Thank you so much! Those are incredibly useful suggestions! (Especially that Recent Documents thing--that was really pissing me off.)

11-26-2006, 03:57 PM
^Oh. Except for one thing. When I right-click on Recent Documents, it just shows the recent documents; it doesn't give me any options at all.....weird, huh? Anyone know how to get around that?

11-26-2006, 08:04 PM
^^ Get the power toy known as TweakUI, and go to the paranoia tab and tell it not to store any recent documents, or to delete (the shortcuts) every time you logoff or reboot.

Microsoft completely missed the boat on Windows Vista. A couple dozen boring features, but still no hide-da-pron feature.
