I've always wondered...how do they decide how much to pay you? Do they base it on what you currently earn or is there a flat rate of compensation?

Still Em, no thanks.

Are you talking about them paying you for being on the show. I don't think they do...they just pay travel expenses...If that's not what you were talking about, ignore me hehe

You are not paid for your appearance on the show. Like MnM said, they just pay for your travel expenses. You have to pay for your own food.

M, you're not willing to hear what everyone else is saying here....even the ones who have been where you're going. I have to agree with Em, nothing good will come of this.

You are being set up from the beginning and you're walking right into the trap. Teens In The Sex Industry is going to be a piece meant to show you in the worst possible light to garner sympathy and provoke outrage amongst conservative Americans towards our industry.

I personally believe that anyone who participates in a show like this sets us back a few paces because they will tape this, and edit it their way, to prove their point. And all you'll do is put more political heat on us. "What???""" "Children are becoming strippers??!!!"

And, I do realize that you are not a child, but to the many bored housewives that watch this show, you represent their children. Children who are being taken advantage of by the big, bad clubowners/pimps and the big, bad, johns/custies.

They won't see the many intelligent, educated women setting themselves up for life like we have here on SW...they'll see a very young woman who needs to be saved from this life of horror and degradation.

You may hate me for saying this, but it's true.

BTW, I got ripped apart on that show and they had no idea what I did for a living...it could have been worse.

Sallys show sent a car for me, put me up in a hotel, and sent me home. Thats it. Granted, I partied with the staff after, but that was a self-gained perk. LOL

You're lucky. I got hit on by the limo driver who decided to take the scenic route to the airport causing me to miss my plane. I wound up having to take a plane to Cleveland, staying overnight and flying home the next day.

I guess it was pretty fun though. The airline gave me a bunch of vouchers which I used to drink and eat with some really cool truckdrivers at the hotel's sports bar in Cleveland.

Well, good luck. Don't lose your cool. (Lady Gwen added, "They expect you to, it'll boost ratings.")

What came to mind when I saw this thread was Tyra's famous Sports Illustrated cover of her yanking her bikini bottom down WITH HER THUMB and brandishing her big pendulous titties for the whole world to see. I believe this was the annual pictoral collection cover. AND she has the nerve to pick on strippers for yanking their underwear off in a private club with closed doors.

When You do that pose. All the guys think about how much you look like her in that picture. Some guys even request that pose. LOL

Yeah, but the semister is over and so is the class. If she is so rich "Why can't she afford some maners?" I think "true-self is a 24 hour thing...not just a put-on fo a T.V. show." I hate to put people down, it's not in my nature...but T.V. is...well... T.V. I do watch her show from time to time, when I'am at home to catch them. I love her revealing work on eating disorders and body immage. It sheds light on a forbidden topics that are distroying the young girls an women of America. (I did a paper in College on this very problem.)...and for that, I'am greatful!

As a stripper, I wonder why guys look at me :O ...I know the illusion of sex sells, BIG TIME!! But, I get to see this body any time I want to and I'am not impressed :bored: . I guess It's because I am so use to seeing it all the time and I still see that nerdy little girl that my classmates picked on >:( ( If only they could see me now! HA HA HA! :rotfl: ) As a child I thought I was not much to look at. I was a nerd (you know...four-eyes, braceses, bad hair and clothes. ) I was poor and looked it. The same friends I had in Kindergarden are still the same friends I have today...(all 4 of them)...INCLUDING MAXIENE. We have 23 years of history that no man will ever break.

I know that I strayed off topic but I belive that people should learn to love themselves first. Then they will be able to love other people for who they really are.

"If we were all born blind it is then, and only then, will we be able to see people for who they truly are." This quote came from my Jr. High teacher and mentor Mr. Ladine. He passed away this year and...I miss him. :'(

That's brillian lielani, so funny! No way would they show that. You couldn't pay me anything less than a million dollars to ever do a show like that though......

Mitsu, not to insult, but you do seem rather naive based on some of your other posts. I wouldn't want this type of learning experience.

How did they find you? I strongly encourage you NOT to do this.

i like the idea of bringing the cover and talking about how it motivated you.

What if you just sat there, smiled, said "hi" and NOTHING else. just to fuck with them. just sat there with a big grin on your face.

Also, does anyone know if they search the audiance for recording equipment. if any of you go, you should try to bring in a small camera to record it, so you can post that to youtube and compare it to the aired episode.

:stop:
*Metal_n_Mitsu* I know this is a very exciting and exhilirating opportunity for you, but I think everyone is right -- you aren't going to be there to be a cheerleader for young strippers/adult entertainers. My primary concern is that you have really considered the long term impact this could have on your life.

Just looking over your "myspace" profile, I can already speculate the direction a talk show host (and the producers) would guide your interview/appearance.

Plausible Scenario::

{Beginning of Taping}
(Tyra) - Our next guest is a very talented, intelligent, beautiful, nineteen year old, young lady from Arizona. She graduated top of her class, she is multi-lingual, plays piano, a lover of ballet and the arts. She has so many things going for you for such a young lady...but she is throwing it all away! She's a Strippah! OMG!!! {Tyra gets that crazy bug eye expression of hers} :yikes:

(You) Introduction to Audience. Smile Pretty and Proud ;D

(Tyra) So, from speaking to you before the show... {Albeit, I am sure the staff has done prior research and it's surefire bet that a myspace page is a good first hit}... it seems you've had some deeply emotional experiences for someone your age. Tell us.

(You) briefly elaborate details of things that have hurt you in your personal life

(Shrink)"Doc" appears and will get up there and claim that you have dealt with your depression and emotions by using self-inflicting, abusive behaviors such as sado-masochism (quoting "pain" - ref. from myspace), submission (bondage), body modification, voyeurism, gothic nature (physical appearance, musical genre interest), etc. and all which have spiraled from your involvement in the seedy, dark world of the SEX industry.

(Audience) Roar! Bah! Woot!

(You) The camera looks over at your pissed face...you are going to say something >:( but then cuts back to Tyra and you never get a response

(Tyra) Such a shame. The sex industry.. the house of the DEVIL on Earth steals another soul. Ok, haha, well, please welcome our next guest....
{End of Taping}

Final result... you haven't been "heard" like you originally intended, no rotten eggs were thrown, no other SW'ers stood up in the crowd to voice opinion. You have been patronized, humiliated, and become another victim of our industry.

Ok, now all fun and games being over. Suppose for a moment in a couple of years life hands you a deck of cards. You decide to obtain your college degree, get a professional career, change your image, raise a family, etc, etc... One day your boss, kid, PTA committie member flips on an old rerun of the Tyra Banks Show. Now, is this REALLY something that you want haunting your future? Of course, the same thing goes with doing webcam, magazines, porn, etc. It's all mass produced, published media! Personally, I take *some* comfort that dancing has some anonymity without much tangible proof or evidence.

To sum up, I know it seems cool now and I am sure you might think that you are going to forever be a kickass, sexy, goth chic, stripper, lesbian porn star (sorry, got carried away on that one }:D ), but the truth is, you are only 19 years old. You may feel wise and grown up for your age, but trust me (and the rest of us old fogies) life changes fast in the next few years to come and I don't want you to have any regrets. Think it through.....

And if you go for it good luck and be sure to tell us the air date!

Wow. I can understand how tempting it is to want to go on television for the whole world to see and defend the Stripping industry. I'm sure you have a hundred and one intelligent, well thought out, and very good reasons for being a stripper. I get it. Most of us here on Stripperweb get it. But not many other people out there in mainstream America get it. And they don't want to get it either. You are really throwing yourself to the wolves here. But I give you props for trying! A few years ago I might have done the same thing. I was hell-bent on getting everyone (family, friends, custys, classmates, etc.) to see my point of view on the matter. Finally I realized that it didn't matter much in the end and I was only wasting my precious time and energy. After all, I'm profiting off of the fact that most Americans are so uptight and sexually repressed. Let them stay that way!
Seriously though, good luck to you. We all support you here. I hope it goes well.

...might want to remind Tyra that supermodels sometimes show 97% skin and strippers show 98% skin for a living. Also, if she goes there, that the percentage of molested and/or drug addicted strippers is probably similar to molested and/or drug addicted supermodels (....emmm) such as perhaps Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. Everyone in a certian industry is not a victim or loser.

^^^^ Listen to this wise guy. They would try to trash you every chance they get! Please wear a wig. Not everybody mind you can change about dancing. I would not want you to have your life ruian. Because of the way Tyra treats you!

I think we should all give you good points to talk about dancing. I would not want you to come unprepare! DO you dance full nude or partial. Please educate her about stripping, explain to her on live tv. The show she did about stripping, Is not what you experience. SHe would proubarly try to cut your statement and make you look like crap. So If you are going to defends dancer every where! You are going to need some good points. That all women can understand! one example most strip clubs allow dancer to where nothing less than a bikini. I believe most women where that to the beach and dance in it! Look at what most women wear today at the beach. Never allow the psychologist on tv to tapp insidde your brain. To me if a doctor is to tapp into your mind. It should be done in private. Focus on the good. Talk about how many women come into the club. That are straight, enjoys dances with thier guy. Talk about the non touch fantasy. Say how when people use the term sex industry. Make your jobs seem so tainted. When it is not at all sex. It is fantasy sort of like the one the actor protray on tv. You have to get into character. You do not have sex. You do not do drug. You are like any other actor. You are just being paid to act for differant people. If dancing was so bad, how come it been arounds for years. L

Just keep in mind that the whole point of these "strippers are pathetic whores" shows she does is all about the fact that one of her ex boyfriends used to go to strip clubs. It made her very insecure(she said this in several interviews)so now I'd bet that since she has a national talk show..she is going to use it to get revenge on everyone(or a representative of) that hurt her. She did it with the Naomi Cambell interview too where supposedly(i didnt see it) tried to goad her into fighting and bringing up past arguments.

Personally I wouldn't do it if I were you. Pretty much everyone thats said "It will not end the way you think." are onto something.

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'M PLANING ON!! Haha, it's gonna rock! I'm gonna tell her that seeing all her modeling and all that, being a sex object, she made it look like so much fun! SO that's why I originally started the whole thing! It's gonna rock! I'm bringing pictures of her and everything

do you think it's going to get aired? What about backfiring? There are a lot of things she can say to come back to that to make you look small. She was a model. You are a lowly stripper. You are a whore. She's a fantasy girl! She makes clothing sexy. You are rubbing sexy all over a guy's dick.

The average housewife can make a stripper look bad. Tyra and her team of experts can too.

Jenny
11-15-2006, 11:02 AM
Okay, not for nothing, everyone, but:
a) it's her show. She gets to edit it. "Turning it around on her" - not really so easy.
b) whether any of us agree with it or not, most people see a qualitatively difference in acting and modelling (appearance oriented industry) and stripping and hooking (other appearance oriented industries). So the argument that, somehow, Tyra is REALLY a stripper or that we're REALLY models will not be intuitively moving to most people. (I mean think about it - we can get pretty up on our high horsies when people assume that we perform acts of prostitution - to the point of believing it is okay to steal from such people (not pointing any fingers, of course). Someone turning around and saying to us "but appearance and presenting yourself as attractive and sexual is important in both stripping and prostitution. Therefore, it is, more or less, the same thing" would not likely garner a great deal of support. And that's leaving out the contact issue entirely.)
c) Did I mention that it is HER show? And sort of designed around HER ideas of world? And that because it is HER show, it is unlikely to be effectively "turned around" on her?

Emily
11-15-2006, 11:04 AM

Prove what? that she's a model? You are a stripper.

Jenny
11-15-2006, 11:23 AM
Honey - outside of the point that your point is not REALLY all that strong - what we're all trying to say is:
do you really think that they are going to LET you do that? The show is taped and edited. Even if it wasn't the control of it is really, really slanted.

sander8son
11-15-2006, 11:27 AM
IF that is her, its barely her as its been edited to hell. Look at her eyes and face, they don't look natural at all.

I think if you bring the pics and turn it around on her and don't give her any way to turn it back on you being a "poor pathetic stripper", the best you could hope for would be for the show to not air. They won't air a show that makes her look stupid(well, thats debatable). Point being they won't air a show where she's being outdone by a guest. So I wouldn't so much make it your goal to educate her and the world about stripping. But if you wanted to make it your goal to see if you could get them to not air the show, go for it!

metal_n_mitsu
11-15-2006, 11:32 AM
Maybe that will be the goal, make her look so dumb that they won't even be able to edit it out and she won't be able to air the show and they're just wasted their time and I get a free plane ticket to Seattle for my birthday hehe. Cuz instead of flying me back to Phoenix I told them to fly mfrom LA to Seattle, so my trip to see my best friend for my brithday weekend is free! Haha and I can say that I humilitated Tyra Banks, whether it airs on public television or not, I still know the truth and know what happened.

Emily
11-15-2006, 11:35 AM
That is the best case scenario. it's not the likely scenario. But good luck anyway. You'll need it. It's obvious you haven't really thought out your attack on Tyra, but they've already thought out their attack on you. You know what happens in sports when only one side works on their plays.

High risk, little reward. I'm assuming you're paying for your ticket home to Phoenix anyway. Use that money to see your friend and spare yourself!

We're trying to help. One of the problems about being naive is that you don't realize that you are. NO good can come of this. Not even a "free" plane ticket to Seattle.

Jenny
11-15-2006, 11:39 AM
Umm... okay....
Like I said - you're point isn't all that strong, and, to be perfectly honest, you seem kind of young and not all that articulate. I would not count on being able to single handedly displace everyone's - especially every layperson's - intuitive understanding of stripping versus modelling. I'm sure every girl on Jerry Springer has equal aspirations to control the direction of the show.

DylanAngel
11-15-2006, 11:42 AM

Umm yeah...How is that free if you have to pay your way from Seattle back to Phoenix? One way tickets are expensive.

And you haven't watched Top Model obviously. This subject has been discussed before. You will bring naked pictures of her and she will tell you that they are art and are being used to sell a tangible product. You are live and stimulating someone sexually...the only product we sell is ourselves and our time which she sees as selling your soul/prostitution.

You obviously have it in your head to go, so good luck to you. Sigh.

metal_n_mitsu
11-15-2006, 11:46 AM
I was going to have to pay for both ways in the first place, now I only have to pay for one. And they are going to do the show regardless, so better it be me than some other girl who is just going to have no idea that they are out to get her and say something really stupid.

Jenny
11-15-2006, 11:50 AM
Yeeahh...
But what we're trying to warn you about is that this way YOU are likely to be the girl who winds up looking really stupid. So that it might actually be better if it was, in fact, another girl. Good luck, have fun. I know we're all buzzkills.
