Sigh. Just don't mention SW. I for one want no ties back to this embarrassment in the making. Not that I don't like you Alexa, far from the truth, I am just cringing over here, and it hasn't even happened yet.

So you're putting yourself in that horrible postition to "save" the sex industry from something that someone, other than you, "might" say? I don't think your intentions are that noble.

I think that you believe you will get some fame and notariety from this...your 15 minutes, if you will, and that's fine. Just don't be surprised if you are embarrassed to even bring it up to someone that you were on that show because you were made a fool of.

How can I make this assumption? I was there...boy, was I there. Lucky for me that it didn't backfire as badly as this one could. My talk show days were waaaaay before the Jerry Springer type fights and such. It was a badge of badgirl honor in those days, just like being a stripper and being in rock videos was.

Make sure you keep us updated so we can be here if you need to vent or to applaud you if, by some miracle, you were able to turn it around.

Ok, here's my final post about this whole thing. I want ot say that I appreciate everyone's advice, whether it be to go on not to go or whatever. I know you all have good intentions. I'm going to go on the show. I'm obviously going to try my best to defend the point whether they turn it around on me or not. If nothing else I'm going to look and act extremely classy and educated and not argue, but just discuss. I have absolutely no problem keeping my cool completely, so no matter what they say they will not get a rise out of me, it's just not going to happen. And if they do bring one of their psychologists out to speak with me, I'm just not going to participate in that. I will not have my brain picked, he can look stupid for talking to himself. Worst case scenario, I look like a completely jack ass on television.....oh well! LIfe goes on, it really isn't going to affect my life. I've never given a thought to other people's negative opinions, because if they have nothing else to do that be negative, obviously they are the onle with the problem and not me. So, bottom line, I'm going, I'm going to try to stand up for our industry, even if it's a futile effort. And what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I guess if nothing else it will be a learning experience that I can be grateful for later.

I have a feeling that's a collective sigh. I don't see how anything good can come of this.

I was going to have to pay for both ways in the first place, now I only have to pay for one. And they are going to do the show regardless, so better it be me than some other girl who is just going to have no idea that they are out to get her and say something really stupid.

have you priced airline tickets? One way tickets are often the same price (or more!) than round-trip. One of the "strange but true" facts of life.

I still don't understand how you plan the embarrass Tyra by bringing sexy pictures of her. Just sitting there and being quiet is your best defense mechanism? That will just make you look even more sad and defeated.

But you have you mind made up. So good luck, again.

You're a big girl, so do what you think you must. Good luck Alexa.

Any idea when it will air? I put the show on my TiVo

Having pointed out the negative things in all this, there are one or two positives as well.

metal_n_mitsu is still young and life's meant to be a learning experience. The experience of being interviewed of a top TV program is not one that comes to many of us, and maybe it'll give you some new perspectives. Even if the experience turns out to be a bit of a negative one, at least you've tried and learned.

I suspect, having pysched yourself up to do it, you couldn't back out of it without spending considerable time regretting not doing it. Better to go and maybe rue it, than not to go and definately regret not going.

Only bit of advice I'd tender is to change your appearance a bit from your usual one. Perhaps a different hair collour and some extensions, together with some different makeup. It's not going to stop someone who knows you well recognising her, but it will provide 'plausible deniability' to people who don't either now, or in the future if it comes up at a job interview, etc.

And the most important point....

GOOD LUCK!!!

Phil.

I would keep one of her photos of her in a sexy outfit displayed at all times, like keeping it set on your lap up against you where it is exposed the whole entire taping or hell, hold it next to your face everytime you speak..That way it could not be edited out and you will be definetly getting a point across!

I appreciate all the opinions, I know that you all are watching out for me *hugs* but fuck Tyra. The dumb bitch can burn in hell. My goal in life is to embarass her, not that it will work, but wouldn't you give it a shot?? I have that tattoo that's on my back, but it won't show, other than that I look perfectly respectable. I'm even going to dress like a mormon hehe.

Dress like TYRA! Act like Tyra to the best of your ability. Blame the modern media on your now loose perceptions of sexuality. Say that you saw Tyra's show on strippers and it inspired you to become one}:D!!

It would be totally funny if you made fun of her the whole time by incorporating her life story into the whole reason why you wanted to become a stripper in the first place. Maybe throw in that you were a beauty queen as a little girl and in high school. That media like the Tyra Show and beauty pagents have taught you that you can use your looks and body to get whatever you want.

She will likely come back with "Beauty contests don't turn girls into strippers." Your only retort should be "you might be suprised."

God, I so wish I was going on that show! That would be funnier than shit!

MnM, if I were you I'd take these warnings into serious consideration. But if you feel that it is something you must do, then by all means. After all, you may need this experience as part of your life journey.

Talk shows like Tyra's rely on sensationalism for ratings. It is not fair, balanced journalism. They will take whatever you say and do and use it out of context in order to support the slant of their show and boost ratings. Amazing what good editing can do. If you go on there and bash Tyra and make her look stupid, they won't air it. Or they will do what they can to make you look stupid. It is, after all, her show. Based on Tyra's previous segments on stripping, it is safe to assume that her mind is made up to portray stripping as this dark, seedy, trashy business. Of course. I mean, this is how the public perceives stripping, and Tyra wants the public to love her so her show will stay on the air and she can make her $$$. So she'll continue to perpetuate the stereotype to get people to like her and her show. She puts down other people to make herself look good (God aren't we glad she doesn't work with us in the club?!)

I know you have good intentions at heart. You want to dispel the rumors and tell everyone what it is REALLY like to be a stripper. You also want to teach Tyra a lesson about being hypocritical and judgemental. So if you do decide to go on the show...

As difficult as it may be, do not lose your cool or bash or strangle Tyra. If you want to be heard, you need to give them respect. Do not let them walk all over you though. This is going to require a balancing act on your part. If you act like a bitch then you'll look bad, but if you're too sweet then they will portray you as being naive. Find a way to strike a balance. Make sure too to acknowledge both the dark & good side of stripping, but also be quick to point out that modeling has its dark side, politics has its dark side, the corporate world has its dark side, etc. Stripping, modeling, being a brain surgeon, ALL OF LIFE is what you make of it & your experiences are shaped by the choices that you make. If Tyra makes any sort of negative judgement about our work, just tell her that you're sorry she (or anyone else who says anything nasty) feels that way, that life is full of illusions, and not everything is as it appears to be. The public has a very distorted perception of what stripping really is. We're not galloping around the club giving blow jobs and having sex with each other. (Well at least most of us aren't.) We respect ourselves and our boundaries, we want to have fun, we want others to have fun, and we want to make $$$ doing it. We're there to entertain and make people forget about their problems the same way other entertainers in other industries do. Tell her that despite the negativity that may float around you in a SC you just mind your own business and do what you can to make the best choices possible without hurting or disrespecting others. Also mention that people who make negative judgements about strippers have never even set foot into a SC before, so how would these people know? But like I said earlier, this show wants to support a certain slant, so you can go on and on about the reality of SC's and the industry, but these folks will do what they can to use you to support the premise of THEIR show. So beware.

I'd dress in business casual if I were you.

You are going to be sitting before an audience who has already made a negative judgement about you. It is going to be very diffficult to sway their opinion of who you are. Sorry to say, but until people walk a mile in your 7" heels, they will never truly understand. If you really are going to go through with it, be mature, be positive, and be respectful. Good luck.

Ohhh, this seems like a very very bad idea.....

Sweety, good luck to you, I really hope this doesn't turn out bad for you, but my mommy instincts are sceaming right now "Do not let that girl go!"

One more piece of advice...don't debate with her.....that woman can debate until the other passes out, which WILL happen way before she does! And remember sweety, it's all about ratings, not about YOU! Good luck, wish you wouldn't go though.....

I'm sorry, but after reading all of your replies... it just looks like you're going to embarrass the hell out of everyone including yourself. All your 'haha, I'll get her' reasons are the same ones I see 16 year olds use to 'embarrass' their boyfriends. Doesn't. Work.

Aw, go for it. For your sake, I hope it'll be civil, but I'd also enjoy a "Sex Pistols"-style melee of cursing and spitting.

OH I just remembered, Tyra HAS appeared NAKED in an advertisement...for Swatch Watches. It's an ad for the slender-band model- she's got her arms crossed over her breasts, and her leg is kicked up in a sporty pose to cover her crotch. I'm sure this pic is on the Internet somewhere. I swear I've seen it. You ought to bring THAT pic to the show. LOL

It wont really make her or us look good, it will make her look like an uneducated young girl who makes decisions based on pictures and images of sexual content, which can enforce a whole new stereotype that dancers make the decision to strip for stupid reasons.
But i see the acting/funny side to it as well so i hope it works out for u.

Yes this would be hilarious but would they really use it?

Not likely.

I think it would be very funny to pull a "Borat" style stunt on Tyra. If the guest is so over the top they likely won't show it. But it would be freaking hilarious if you have a girl standing up and screaming totally off the wall statements like 'Send me your husbands!" or something;D.

You are right, but if the 'guest' is that outrageous, everyone will at least suspect it is all an act.

haha send me your husbands is funny! it does make sense though to do a funny act if it is perceived that way. If people do not want to understand our logical reasons on why we support the stripper scene, then making fun of the situation is the best expressive outlet. Please do use the send me ur husbands haha.

You could always say something to the effect of how super models of her generation and before her were drug addicts, bulimics, coke snorting twigs who DID COME from bad upbringings.. do your research girls.. I believe that Cindy Crawford is perhaps the ONLY super model who wasn't fucked up in some aspect... all of them were messed up.. and I think Janice Dickinson was their teacher...

In addition, models aren't condensending to society? They are the reason why my eleven year old is concerned about her weight! They are the reason why society is so twisted and messed up. They aren't real! They are the reasons why women are more likely to suffer from dangerous eating disorders, addictions and self warped insecuritites because we are "TOLD" that this is acceptable??? Fuck that. Fuck Tyra. She's the biggest hypocrite I've ever heard and I truly think you would be better off to DECLINE and post a statement that you are truly just too GOOD to be on her show, or better yet, I'm not a theif/abuser like Naomi Campbell, I'm not a plastic surgery messed up junkie like Janice Dickinson and I'm not a coke snorting freak like Kate Moss.. perhaps you should call one of them... ;D

Just my two cents....

First of all she had Jenna Jameson on there and they acted like best friends, so I don't get this. Secondly, guys, she's a teenager. The show is called Teens in the sex industry. I don't think they'll rip her a new one when they see her as a kid. The only person I saw them do that to was an obvious asshole, the creator of Girls Gone Wild. Otherwise THEY would look like the assholes. I didn't see them embarassing the teens who went on to talk about teen sex. So I imagine it will be the naive angle. The we're here to protect you before you ruin your life angle. All they need are the facts. We who are more liberated don't realize that people find it dramatic enough to hear about teens stripping and posing nude. Plus they can say stuff in a certain way to make it sound worse, like "she performs sexual acts for men as old as SEVENTY....FIVE.... How would you feel if you saw your father there?" They don't need to go Jerry. Maybe one teen will apologize to her mom. Another will admit she didn't have a dad and was doing it to get attention. Maybe one will break down crying. That's what I imagine. Not we hope you die whore.

I'm glad she dissuades people from doing it because that means less competition.

Good, don't listen to what anyone tells you. Be comfortable knowing that you will have an easily accessible public record of your behavior. Oh, and those stripclubs where the guy sits in a room and can't do anything or the cameras will kick him out...how's that going for you hon?

From a friend of mine who has done these shows comes the advice that you should have one or two points and stick to them. You won't have time to say anything else.

Although it's fun to talk about humiliating Tyra, I not only don't think it's possible, but it isn't good strategy. I wouldn't make things up or smart off. I'd just stick to the point that YOU are handling a precarious career in a sensible fashion and that you're sorry other women can't look at your case and be supportive.

Good luck.

Yeah I agree with all the ladies on here telling you to watch your ass. Trying to make Tyra look bad, or bringing/holding pics of her throughout the show is only going to perpetuate this stereotype that strippers are worthless trash. You shouldnt have to bash someone else to make you feel better and if you do than you shouldnt be representing the strippers of the world. It all comes down to the theory that if she can get to you, piss you off make you spout off on national tv, SHE WINS. The second she has gotten to you, you have already lost and it will only go downhill from there. Be respectful, act mature and educated and DO NOT try and make her look bad because that is stupid, what are we 12?

I would never go on her show no matter what even if they would pay me!
soemthing else would be Oprah who is no-judgmental (ussually) talk host.
but TYRA?!!! are you out of your mind? you may as well go on Jerry Springer show....

Actually I remember them ripping into some girls younger than 19 because of their Myspace pages.

Anyone can get on a talk show if they want to. These shows hire people just to search for others to embarass for ratings. I never understood why some people are so willing to give up their dignity in exchange for a spot on TV. It won't make you any "cooler" and the whole discussion about trying to embarass Tyra makes me feel like I'm 13 again. Good luck.

I agree that Tyra prob wont "slam' her...but she will give her the whole "I'm so sad for you because you are too young and ignorant to know how you are being used and abused" shtick....

If it is 'teens in the sex industry' themed...I'm guessing they are going to use the whole "abused" angle...that you are being taken in and taken advantage of by big mean clubs and customers without having any say or idea how badly you are being treated.
Kind of like doing a show on child sex workers...how sad it is that the 9 yr old thinks that being a prostitute is normal because she is so abused and doesnt know better....to people like Tyra...theres little differance between a 9 yr old prostitute and a 19 yr old stripper.

I hope it goes well.

Ugh I went to a taping of the show and it's so fake. I had a friend who went to watch a taping and they asked her to come back as a guest and pretend she wears too much blush so tyra can help her out. She doesnt wear blush in real life but tyras make up people did her makeup. It's disgusting, they plant audience members to ask questions. She looks like a drag queen and not a pretty one at that in real life.

What date are you set to tape the show? I want to go watch it, my husband works near there so it's not a big deal.

Seriously, tyra is an idiot. She preplans all her questions ahead of time. She has to keep looking at her cue cards to know what to say next.

Good luck to you but know that its really all fake and gets distorted. She butchered a woman for being a cheater and that womans husband for having no balls.
