Aw, go for it. For your sake, I hope it'll be civil, but I'd also enjoy a "Sex Pistols"-style melee of cursing and spitting.
OH I just remembered, Tyra HAS appeared NAKED in an advertisement...for Swatch Watches. It's an ad for the slender-band model- she's got her arms crossed over her breasts, and her leg is kicked up in a sporty pose to cover her crotch. I'm sure this pic is on the Internet somewhere. I swear I've seen it. You ought to bring THAT pic to the show. LOL
like this ad?

^^ ^^
Yeah, I don't think bringing naked pics of her in will prove a damn thing. In ANTM, there's always a "naked" photo shoot (and she criticizes those , so she obviously has no problem doing nude work). Again, she's just "selling" a product.
It's when the girl herself is the "product" that she takes offensive. She looks down at "men's magazine" because they aren't pushing anything, just the girl and her hotness...

We're just waiting for Alexa to let us know. She's on right now...maybe she'll clue us in.

I agree. Having a 19 year old myself, I know it's hard to admit when you're wrong. Hell would freeze over before my daughter would cop to anything!

Well I wish she would have left a time. So we can view what did happen. If some one wasnted to get tickets for the show. She could have some support.

Why would you stop replying to your thread when you're supposed to tell people how it went? Or else why even start it?
It's not like we were being purposefully and horribly mean to her personally. I think we were all concerned for her.

If its anything like other talk shows, it wont air for at least a month after filming.

Yea but to be fair it didn't come off that way. Personally I thought that some you went overboard.
If it was me I wouldn't bother telling ppl what happened either... esp since ya'll were so against it.
BrunetteGoddess
11-21-2006, 07:23 PM
Well to be fair Seraya...
We tried to be delicate about our advice initially, and she just kept treating us like we were nuts. So some of us got a little more agressive. Hey, if I was mean about it, I am sorry, but the girl has a thick skull. I would never want my friend to go into a situation like this.

Tyra's website doesn't say anything farther than the next week, so it must be later than that.
But if you check out who they are looking for to guest on the show, it's a bit evident that the girl has a motive. Everything's X-rated this, X-rated that.

^ Yea I know what ya saying... what I'm saying is that I'm not at all suprised that she didn't come back and dish the dirt esp since ppl were so against her going ( not to mention quite agressive with their views). She's probably thinking 'fuck em they can see it when it airs.

Well, the way I see it, when you post on the forums here, you open yourself up to all opinions. I've started many threads where people gave brutal advice and opinions, and they helped me in the long run. I knew people were just concerned and it wasn't personal.

When you interview onstage, there are a few things you can do to make it hard to overedit your comments. If they let you, ask for a cup of coffee before they start filming. Keep switching the cup back and forth in your hand as you speak, its causes inconsistencies in the editing and makes it harder to cut. Or shift left and right in your seat or cross and uncross your legs.
Another thing you can do is never answer "yes" or "no." Repeat the question in a statement from then answer it with a full sentence, and never apply it yourself.
For example, if she asks, "how much money do you make per night?" you say, "An exotic dancer with sales skills usually makes between X and X a year, everyone is different so it is hard to say. I'm a satisfied with the money I make because I can support myself and prep for the future."
You never gave a flat number, but made a positive statement about your choice of work. You satisfied the question, but didnt really answer it.
I learned some of these interview techiniques when I used to do alot of press work for my old job.
Fortunately Tyra Banks is still an interview rookie and has alot to learn, on the flip side she comes off as very judmental and biased which IMO frustrates past guests. They have an agenda--just remember that.
I was going to write a letter after that stripper research episode b/c she just didnt get it (at least she admitted that tho)
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Do some reasearch on TV show/news interviewing before you go--IT WILL SAVE YOUR ASS.

I agree...which is why I told her a few pages back to update us so we can support her if she needs to vent or applaud her if she turned the tables on the bitch.
That's what I want to know more than anything; if she was able to stick it to her. Regardless of if it airs.

I must say that I'm a little embarrassed and disappointed in the repeated disapproval of this experience for MnM. I would have thought you guys would be a little more supportive. I understand your concern. I am too. But concern and ripping on this girl are two different things. Besides, why beat a dead horse? Why continually repeat the same haggard advice and skepticism as your last response or the twenty women before you? I myself am an older dancer and some of the responses by other older dancers on this thread are no better than that of a group of teen girls at a slumber party. If you’re so smart and wise, learn some better communication skills. Especially with people not in your age group. Being over 18 and a dancer does not put us all in the same boat.
Feel free to rip me a new asshole on this one. Please try to be as self rightous as possible. I could use the laugh.}:D

Tyra is a non-issue. Why anyone cares about her opinion is beyond me. She is part of the reason 12 year old girls want liposuction, lets see THAT on her show. She should worry about that, but noooOOOooo, that involves admitting that she's not made of solid gold and thus stepping down from upon high to mingle with the commoners.
She is a hypocrite. End of story.
MnM can do what she wants. Might even make her some money in the long run with the exposure (i really don't know about things like that), but she outclasses that bitch queen Tyra Banks by a damn sight and i don't even know her.

For the record, my first reply was far into page 2. AND up until my reply with a different opinion and advice, everyone was saying "Good luck!"and sugar coating it. So as far as repeating posters ahead of me, that was not the case. Even when I first posted I only said it could be a potential for ridicule, and to be careful AND good luck.

Ok everyone....I went and did the interview, took advice from all you girls and I made it EXTREMELY hard for them to edit anything. I moved constantly, changed my tone of voice and used complete sentences. I got a call from the Producer today saying that they won't be able to air the interview!!! I guess Tyra didn't like it. I guess she could skew it to her advantage and make me look stupid! Well it's not airing, but in my mind I kicked her ass! She had a real condescending attitude the whole time though and the wardrobe people kept on trying to put mei n these skanky little outfits saying that I have a great body and should be proud to show it off, bleh bleh bleh, I wasn't born yesterday. They were trying to portray what TYRA thinks of strippers. That we are all skanky and slutty and have no self respect. I talked a lot about how stripping is paying for school and I'm saving for a down payment on a house, etc etc. Guess it wasn't good enough for her. What a bitch

And yes, to the above post ^^^ why is she so focused on all this stuff? She doesn't even want to see the other side of things.

Congrats to you for going. Sounded like a great opportunity for you.
For the record, no matter how smart you came off, no matter what you would have said....if it aired, it never would have changed the 'typical' stripper stereotype people have in their heads. I don't know why everyone was getting in a tizzy about it; the stereotype is here to stay for quite some time whether you like it or not.

The bitch is just jealous that she's a "supermodel" (ooohhh let's all kiss the ground she walks on) and she's STILL not as cool as us here on stripperweb!! Haha!
Some of the questions she asked were like...
Tyra:"Do you have guys propositioning you for sex?"
Me: "When men proposition me for sex I explain to them that I am worth a lot more than that and that I will not be degraded in that way. I get paid because I'm a talented exotic dancer, nothing else"
"How do you feel about being looked at as a sex object?"
Me: "Women want to be looked at as a sex object. The only thing that makes a woman more angry than being looked at as a sex object is NOT being looked at as a sex object(I think this was a direct quote from someone here on stripperweb, but I don't know, I just remembered it and wanted to say it). Chew on that for a minute Tyra. You make a living off of being looked at by men all over the world as nothing BUT a sex object, and you're fine with that"
Tyra:"What was your childhood like?"
Me: "I grew up in a stable, religious family who loved me very much.
Tyra: "Would you discourage a 14 or 15 year old girl from becoming a stripper?"
Me: "The only person who can decide if dancing is right for them is THEM. I believe that if a girl is unstable and does not have her head on straight, it is not the best idea. I believe that when dancing you should have a goal, same as anything else. For example: I'm saving for college to get my degree in Criminology. Some women dance because the schedule allows them to be better mothers and spend more time with their children. Others do it because they honestly ENJOY dancing, and music, and crowds of people. Everyone has a reason, and I don't think that we should judge anybody."
Tyra: "Well do you ever get really perverted guys that try to put their hands on you?"
Me: "Any person who tries to touch me in ANY sexual way will be IMMEDIATELY escorted out of the club and not welcome back"
*Anybody notice that I used complete sentences in EVERYTHING so it is almost impossible to edit. There are no "yes" "no" "of course" "no way" kind of answers. I restated the question in everythign I said. I thought I did a pretty good job! Yay for me. Thanks for all the support girls! Although I wish some of you could have been in the audience!
