I've told a few girls at work. But for the most part, i like to think of SW as my lil secret. Like alot of you said, it feels like it's mine and if i want to vent, i don't want to worry about anyone hearing about it and getting pissed off at me.
plus, it seemed like nobody was really that interested. why try to convince them it's a great place if they don't give a damn?

I told a few (OK, they're not "other" dancers, except that they're other than the ones who are here) a few years ago. One registered, never posted, then disappeared. One said she was going to and never did. And, the rest, nothing.

I dont tell other dancers simply because I want to rant and rave and not have toi worry about someone I work with go and tell others that I'm talking about them online.
Ditto ;D

I only told one or two people about it. When I go to sc's I'll ask some girls if they've ever been on, but nope. Other than when I went to DW's class, I haven't even met anyone from this board. Hoping SWF07 will change that!
And lol, the noise reducing headphones is what I posted in the buying yourself for christmas thread.

Rarely. Most girls aren't interested, don't spend much time online (if at all), etc. Also I prefer not to have every girl at work reading what I have to say here. Then it wouldn't be quite the sanctuary it is now ;D
I don't talk that much to girls at work either, so there's rarely a chance for the subject to come up in the first place.

Hmmm... well I've been on here on/off since I was 18 and I've told 3 people. (22nd bday next week :) ) So not really.

I tell everyone I can!!! I would to put a SW banner on my MySpace Blog. Yet, some don't like SW BECAUSE it is a forum, and not a place for hooking up or self promotion....like MySpace can be sometimes.

If they can't take the time to research their job, then it's not my problem. LOL
I like being able to post and not worry about it later on though.

The only person I have told has been my SO and my roomie. I don't like telling other girls b/c then they may actually learn how to hustle and then my $$$ would drop...guess I'm a bit greedy, huh? }:D (although if they ask for hustling tips, I will help them...a little...)
And also, then where would I go to vent and all? If they knew about it, then I would be out in the cold, harsh, real world...no fun! lol

Yeah, there are a couple of people on here that I actually think I've met in my career. I haven't really investigated, because I don't really want to know; nor do I want them to know. The last thing I want is to be telling a story and have some other girl here be all "I remember that! And you were such a WHORE!" I've had so many screw ups.

Ive told girls but most seem uninterested. Its not just a place to mingle with other dancers but to find out how to better yourself through learning from others mistakes and hustling styles. I dont think they actually sign on and become memebers.

I think this site is more valuable to those who seek it out. It's like, you can learn so much more when you want to learn, but people look at you wierd when you tell them about it.

That's a good point. I have a few friends who can't get with the messageboard/forum setup whatsoever...even with topics they are obsessed with like sports or celebrities. It's just not for everyone.

I work with quite a few girls who are on here and I tell newbies or travelers about it. I think it's obvious that Portland has a respectable SW contingent so plenty of them know about it already.

to be brutally honest, most girls who are dancers are much more interested in living their lives day to day, are only concerned with things that will affect them in the next 24-48 hours, and could care less about 'investing' their time and energies into anything that doesn't provide immediate gratification in one form or another ... just like the vast majority of other people ! Thus I only mentioned SW to dancers who showed a serious interest in making a 'career' of dancing as well as a serious willingness to improve their current situation in life (which might have amounted to one girl out of every 50 I had ever worked with) !
When I look back at the clubs I worked at when I danced, and all the dancers I've ever worked with, had stripper web been around then, and I had told them about it, I can only think of like 1 person, maybe 2 that I KNOW would have come to check it out and loved it and utilized it. Most would have never checked it out. If I still danced right now, it would be the rare occassion that I would tell anyone about it.

Melonie, I'm totally with you on that. I've told one girl in my club about SW because she's got goals. She's in undergrad right now, using her dancing money to save up for law school. She doesn't drink and she's very level headed and a very nice girl so I told her but for the most part, no, I don't like the idea of telling everyone I work with about it, a few that you are in good terms with is ok.
Like what Yolanda said, she's on really good terms with some older dancers that need advice and are probably on their way out and it's a great tool for them to use their last few years dancing to their advantage and maximize it.
I do believe what goes around comes around, it's a great thing to help people, you just have to know which ones are worth it and which ones aren't.

I do tell all the other dancers about this board as I am always desparately seeking information (up to date) about the other clubs in Australia ... I used to be the ONLY aussie on these boards for a looooooooong time.
The one thing I find is the reason there aren't more girls on the board is both a mixuture of being "lifestyle" strippers (party party party!) as well as just not being online enough to bother with the board.
Alot of girls have come.. been active.. then gone.. just like within the industry.

Wait....I'm not supposed to live day to day buying new purses and shoes and then wondering why I can't pay my mortgage? Yeah, I'll get things for myself on occasion, but honestly, 5 years from now what are 100 Coach and Fendi bags going to do for me? I don't tell anybody about SW, most girls I know could care less about trying to work to improve their quality of life. My agent laughs at me though...he asks if I am reading what my stripper sisters are doing. :P
