I currently reside in a small town close to Charlotte, NC. It used to be that I couldn't wait to get the hell away from here. When I got married I lived in Hilton Head, SC for six years. And now that I am a flight attendant I have been and seen a lot of places. Not being a fan of cold weather I hate the north. There are some beautiful places up north but I just can't deal with the cold temps. I got spoiled living in Hilton Head because the average temp there was probably 70 degrees. Now I bitch when it gets below 60. I did my flight attendant training in Phoenix, Arizona and don't like it there either. I like greenery and it's just brown and dry there. Austin, Texas is nice, things are green there and it's warm. Florida isn't bad either but you constantly have to live in fear in the summer and fall with the hurricanes. All in all I think the piedmont is nice here. We are four hours from the beach, two from the mountains, not in a area prone to natural disasters and the cost of living in the Charlotte area is very affordable, plus the people are mannerly. I liked Savannah a lot as well. Hilton Head isn't really a southern city as almost everyone there is an implant plus the cost of living is expensive. So, I really don't live in such a bad area. If I had to move somewhere I would probably pick Savannah first, then perhaps Texas or north Florida.

I've lived in a medium sized Wisconsin town most of my life and I have kind of a love/hate relationship with it. My town has about 80,000 people (more like 150,000 if you include all the little towns surrounding it), which is a good size town for me because it's not so small that you have to drive an hour to get to the nearest mall, yet not so large where you have high crime, traffic jams, etc.

The good points are that the cost of living is relatively low (I only pay $460 a month for a decent sized 2 bedroom apartment. I've lived here for 5 years and the rent has never gone up.), the people here are friendly and laid-back for the most part, and most of my family and friends live here.

The bad points are the weather (winters here can be brutal!), it can get boring here at times, and that Wisconsin doesn't have great earning potential for strippers compared to a lot of other places (many clubs make you work brutally long hours, I'm talking 10-12 hour shifts!-plus most clubs don't have a VIP room, so it's hard to earn REALLY good money).

Most of my family and friends are here, and I don't like being away from them for too long. If it weren't for them, I would probably move elsewhere.

Fresno!? Ewwwww. I think thats one of the most uncoolest unfun places to visit in Cali. Couldnt you have headed out west towards Santa Cruz to see Cali? Fresno is where K Fed is from .. enough said.

I went with a friend to visit his kid not like I was on some huge vacation .

I live in Kansas..in a stupid prison and military town called Leavenworth. I dont really like it, but I was born here and all my family lives here so I stay. I have always wanted to move somewhere, only for a couple of years to experience something new but it always comes back down to my family. I am very close to my family, even though they annoy me most of the time, and I cant even think of not being around them. I have a 9 year old sister who would miss me alot if I wasnt around and I wouldnt get to see her grow up... still I would like to move somewhere else. I kinda want to move to NYC or somewhere near there, but the cost of living is so expensive compared to what I am used to its crazy! Canada is another place I want to live, but I dont know how that would work... like a work visa or citizenship? Hmmm...does any of you Canadian girls know how that would work?
As far as western Canada you have to live there for 3 yrs I think and then apply for citizenship ...thats all I know . You can find alot of info on their government site , it was really helpful.

I really have to say that the crime here in Tampa is disgusting . I would never have moved anywhere near here if I could have just watched the news for a few days before . I have always lived in a city and have seen my far share of nasty news but it seems like everyday you either hear of a child rape, molestation or some sort of child endangerment OR someone got robbed and shot and died . Its all violent series shit not just some punk kids getting into trouble ya know ?

The damn weather is nuts , its over 80 and humid today so its not like you can even enjoy thats its warm you just kinda sit around and drink something clod .....I would love to live here part time but not all the time and not forever .

Oh god and let me say it again ...you get Hurricanes ( big ones ) earth quakes (some fault lined out in the gulf ) and TORNADOS ( hello ) and gators attack someone every now and then .

But still its better than Washington ...lol

^^^Yeah, the crime in Tampa is pretty bad, or so I hear. I go to school in Tampa but have never wanted to live there. The bad parts of Tampa are REALLY bad.

I live in Sarasota, FL, about an hour south of Tampa. It's boring, completely boring, dismally boring, but for some strange reason, I've grown to love it. When I first moved here, to go to school, I had just spent the summer in Crested Butte, CO (a beautiful little mountain town) and Key West, FL the spring before that, and I was just distraught at how incredibly lame this place was. I vowed to leave as soon as I finished school. But somehow, somewhere in there, I got attached. I think it's because I love my friends to an extent that's just corny... the benefit of living in a small, dull city with lots of young students is that you all get to know one another very, very well, because there's nothing to do but sit around and talk. And now 2 friends and I rent a beautiful, surprisingly affordable house in the nicest part of town, and when I'm sitting in my backyard and there's sunshine and hibiscus or moonlight and owls I think to myself, okay, this is actually pretty cool.

I grew up in NYC, but have never wanted to move back. Too much chaos, nonsense, social pressure, grime, cold, superficiality for me. I've also lived in Washington DC, Key West FL (as mentioned), Pahoa HI, Asheville NC, Crested Butte CO, Santa Cruz CA, St. Petersburg FL, and maybe a few other places that I can't remember right now. They all had their ups and downs. Don't know where I want to end up ultimately.

I live in the Silicon Valley, and I don't want to be anywhere else. I refuse to live in an area with no money and no resources. There are so many opportunities here for women. This area has everything to offer for the industrious and motivated.

San Francisco has everything to offer for anyone who wants anything.

I will start by saying philadelphia has stolen my heart and will always be my home. That being said I was born in philly but have moved around quite a bit.
As soon as i graduated high school i knew i needed a change and went down to south florida (Ft. Lauderdale) and prompty got eaten alive :) A year later I came back to philly and finished school. Right after graduation I took what i thought was an amazing job oppertunity in northen california. I was there for a few months when the company went bankrupt and i eventually headed back to philly. I stayed for a bit then ran back down to ft lauderdale for while before heading back to philly once again where I've been for almost 2 years. I did a promotional tour this past spring that toured the midwest ( from south dakota to oklahoma) and throughly hated it and will never go back. I could just never have enough stimulation in the midwest. My dream is to live happily ever after in southern california. If i can loose the rest of my weight (So i can dance out there) and hustle hard here I might be able to go as soon as fall '07. However I won't be at all surpised if i end up back in philadelphia.
What do i love so much about philly?
First off it would have to be the people. I have made the most amazing friendships here that i am truelly blessed to have. I like that it's a big city but easy to navigate and not overwhelming for me like NYC. I ABSOLUTLY LOVE my neighborhood, slightly west of center city near 2 universities. I have great on- street parking, a huge beautiful apt (Cheap rent) and it is so culturally diverse. The food options in philadelphia are off the hook. So many different nationalities represented and tons of quality 5 star establishments (If you can afford them) as well as dive mom and pops and eclectic b.y.o.b's. We have nice parks in the city and woods, waterfalls, hiking, biking, rock climbing oppertunities within 10-15 minutes of the city. We can also ski or be at the beach within 2 hours.

Born in Pennsylvania, but grew up in Houston. Moved to Seattle for a change of pace and to go to school. Lived up there for about five years. Dropped out of grad school, sold everything I owned and moved to Japan for a year and taught English. Came back to Houston b/c I missed my family, had all of these idealistic notions about home, blah, blah, blah. I've been back for a little over a year now, and am reminded on a daily basis why I left this shithole to begin with! I'm either going to end up moving to Austin, back to the NW (hopefully Portland and not Seattle) or go teach overseas again when my BF finishes school.

I love Chicago too! I've only visited twice, but LOVED it! Btwn the awesome shopping, the muesuems, the musical and the AMAZING FOOD. LOOOOOVE NARCISSE... best food, service and atmosphere ever... has got to be one of the best restaurants in the country.

From what I saw and condo prices and rents in Chicago on CL, it's WAY less expensive than NY, DC, 'Cisco and other cities that offer similar quality.

Alas, I do not live in Chicago, but would seriously consider moving there after I finish up school here it CT where I currently live.

About CT, it's cheap compared to DC where I was living before, the club where I expect to work in Springfield should yield me more income in fewer hours than the club where I worked in DC. CT is pretty, great schools BUT uber homogenous, NO men, few of my fave restaurants or anywherer worth raving about, entertainment sucks, low on culture compared to NY, DC, Chi-town, no professional sports teams.

All in all I think it sucks if you're single, but is a nice place to raise a family if you plan to and can afford to travel to better places.

Let me say again... I LOVE Chicago.

It isnt that I dont appreciate others looking nice or keeping their homes up...I just hate it when whenever you meet someone new the ENTIRE conversation is centered around what new expensive car they just bought (and isnt it more expensive then yours BTW??) or the HUGE vacation they took and ALL the celebs they know PERSONALLY and the AMAZING amount of money they made on their last deal..and wait...you drive a what???NOT a Lexus??? Oh..i cant talk to you anymore.....

I have a VERY low tolerance for pretension...getting lower the longer I stay in South Florida....

I care what kind of person you are...not the kind of car you drive. Unfortunately i am in the minority where thats concerned here.

No thats true , I agree with you . I guess i am inbetween because although I think having nice things is important it is NOT all that matters . I hate how people who don't have nice things think that you are wasting your money by getting things that cost more . When it comes to clothes and homes you ARE actually getting more for your buck so to speak . Cars are not always better because they cost more however , as long as it is not a rust bucket or a noise machine its kool with me . }:D

I hate places where it's all about status. It's one thing to enjoy being around people who take pride in themselves, it's another to be snobbish to the point where if you don't drive a AMG Benz then you're trash and treated as such. I hate that just because I drive an old beat up car, in places like Scottsdale I'd be treated like a lesser citizen. Hey, I happen to like my car! I like to put my money in other places! Also, just because I dress down, doesn't mean I'm poor; it means I like comfort!

I now live back in my hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, where I was born and raised. At the age of about 19 I moved to Birmingham, AL, which I really didn't like so there's not much to mention about it. I only lived there about 9 months and came back to N.O. Then about three years ago I moved to Tampa and now I'm back in New Orleans with my family.

I love New Orleans. It is my home and where I feel at home. It is a unique city unlike any other. I love that there are so many different types of people here. I love the old architecture. When I lived in Tampa it seemed like everywhere you looked it was just apartment complexes and subdivisions and stripmalls. I'm not knocking it if that's what you like, but I personally love the character and history of New Orleans. I even love some of the things people consider negatives. I can't explain it but I feel like I'm smothering and dying if I live in someplace that is too perfect and manicured. There is also so much good food here that you just don't find other places. I love snowballs! I couldn't find a decent snowball to save my life in Tampa. I love kingcakes. I love the music. You can drink on the street and the bars don't close. But really what is great about this city is the people. There are so many unique people here.

Of course there is the downside, obviously Katrina. Parts of the city still look like a bomb went off. However, even after Katrina New Orleans people know how to have a good time. Where else would you find someone shaking their booty like this in their bedroom!

I was lucky enough to grow up on a little sailboat, so I got to live in lots of places - New Zealand, Alaska and Africa (not actually boat-related), French Polynesia, Hawaii, Micronesia, Guam, ugh, and France for a year (to escape from Guam and also not boat-related). Then I came to the states for college and have been here since. Western Mass for college, various places for summers, then Seattle for five years. While I certainly don't have as much of a problem with Seattle as Jenny does (maybe partially cause it got drier there each year so certainly no mold and a fair bit of sun even in winter) there was something about it that just didn't work for me either, oh and the stripping over there sucks. On the other hand, now I'm back in Western Mass, and while I love the scenery and the architecture and the weather, I sure do newly appreciate the city-stuff we in Seattle. Ah, the joys of lots of restaurant options and being able to walk, or stumble drunkenly, everywhere, including all the bars and clubs I liked ('cause I lived in the hip neighborhood - oh yeeaaaah). Oh, and the rent in Seattle is better than east coast cities, but my rent here in the suburbs is the best! I kinda really want to move back to New Zealand again - I miss the milk being delivered in bottles - although I'm sure that's long gone, and the huge mangroves you could sit in and climb around in without ever getting wet. I should run off and do it; I am a citizen after all.

Then I lived in Northern Washington state waaaaaayyyy up near Canada but I worked in Seattle . Yuck . If I ever even have to go back there I will peal my own skin off in protest . The people are mean . The weather is GROSS , gray and drizzle all the time and everything is covered in mold . The mountain views are really amazing but alot of the neighborhoods are so hillbilly it really takes away from the beauty . Anyways needless to say not my favorite place .

[FONT=Georgia]I live in Washington- grew up in So. King county, now I live in Marysville.
The weather, bleh. Don't get me wrong, when the weather is nice, it is amazing, but it's only a few weeks out of the years.
I am affected by the weather so I am usually in some state of melancholoy.
Dancing here was hard. It sucked. The state found anyway to cut into the money it could. Still does.
I would fly to Reno or drive to Oregon to make money.
Now, I don't dance anymore, but still resent the conservative views on nightlife that Washington has (not just strip clubs, any thing to do with a CLUB period.).
I can't say that I like living here, it's just the oly place I really know and my family is here. the air is clean, but I know the weather itself causes issues, what with mold and all. I could never live where there is no ROOM! I can't stand to be in Seattle proper for very long because everything is so crowded!
I would love to move everyoe to Hawaii or Italy...

Since you mentioned rent I thought I would try to find this article I read while Iwas living in Wash , I couldn't find it . To the best of my memory it was one of those 50 most expensive cities to live in and the based it on ho0wmuch people earn VS how much they pay to live and other expenses and can you imagine that Seattle was top 5 on that list ?!! I was surprised ( at first ) because coming from the east coast the rent does seem cheap in comparison BUT then I started working and it all made sense . No matter what you do for work in Washington with some obvious exception you get paid dick squat . I use to make great money in Mass and I am very sore that I ever left in the first place . I found it very hard to survive in Washington as did my family . We lived up near Bellingham so even the walmart was a 45 min drive , that can wear on you after awhile . That's why when researching a place to move next I consider all angles . Yeah sure the housing prices are cheap BUT WHY ?? Oh because it is really hard to get a job out there or because you have to drive over an hour everyday or the climate or this or that . No place is ideal , its just about narrowing down what is important to you and what you can live with or with out .........

I was born and raised in Orlando, FL. What can I say, it's...Florida. It was a decent place to grow up. Orlando was much much smaller then, though. I don't miss the oppressive humidity at ALL.

Moved to Tucson, AZ for 2 years when I was...10-12. It was fun riding my BMX around in the desert all day.

Lived with my father in Birmingham, AL for about 10 months after high school. Yuck.

Back to Orlando again. Met the lovely wifey, and together we moved to Philadelphia in I think it was July of '94. We lived in a kinda scary area right around 5th and Thompson a block or two north of Girard. We called it Fortress Fishtown. Big huge loft apartments, and you had to go thru SIX locked doors to get to our place. No a/c though, and that sucked big time. Our son was born, we moved out of the city after I walked outside and stepped on a burnt heroin spoon one morning. The burbs it was, Warminster to be precise.

Let's see...then we moved to Tampa for a year or so. Tampa was alright, I guess. Cuban food was cheap, heh. I really liked the zoo there, too. We were always broke there though, and I didnt like working in the clubs there either.

Back to Philly again I guess around 4 years ago. Whenever Oasis opened, I was here for that. We now have a great place in North Wilmington, DE. I can literally throw a rock and hit PA. Tax-free shopping here! I'm about 20-25 minutes from downtown Philly. Baltimore and DC and NYC are all within 2 hours. We live on a really quiet street with houses only on one side of the street. Directly across from me is a creek and trees. The houses are bigger and far cheaper than in neighboring PA, but they are beginning to go up a bit. Traffic isn't too bad, any store I need is within 15 minutes or so. I like it here, for the time being. The wife hates the cold weather, but we can never agree on that anyway. Ultimately I see us living in Europe somewhere eventually after the kids are grown. We really liked Utrecht in Holland. Who knows?

Came to AZ for a party on the river 19yrs ago and never left LOL . I am starting to hate the 120 degree summers but really its awesome here I have a great view and its mostly dry here - when its very humid in other places to the point that when you dry yourself off after a shower your soaked again . I couldnt stand that ! For the most part I think AZ gets gets a lot of people who want a change in life - at least in the north-west part (surrounding Havasu area ) . Whats nice is we can go from the brown area ( desert ) to the green area ( mountains ) in a short road trip .

Born and raised in St. Louis, MO. Gateway to the West... w/e, it's a shithole. I thought I was going to get out to go to college, but nope, still stuck here. I grew up in St. John, less than a mile from Lambert Airport and about 10 minutes outside of both some bad areas and some REALLY rich areas. I would say that where I grew up is not a bad area, the people I went to school with named it the "redneck ghetto".

St. Louis as a whole sucks. We are a huge sports city, namely baseball since the Rams and Blues pretty much blow, so if you're not a sports fan then life can get pretty dull. The stadiums leave the traffic and Metro stations screwed anytime there is a game.

We also have decent nightlife, but only if you're over 21. We have a HUGE music scene but a lot of the venues are 21+ so that leaves the younger people a bit left out. We have a bar on every corner and plenty of night/dance clubs. In terms of SCs, you have to go to East St. Louis, St. louis itself is a predominately Catholic city and the laws are a bit conservative.

Other stuff... we have a great FREE zoo, a good art museum (also free), we have lots of theatres and art galleries and if you like Italian or Asian food, some great restaurants.

The city as a whole? It's dying. The big companies are starting to leave, the ghettos are getting bigger, the socio-economic gap gets wider every second. Nowadays around here, you're either poor or rich... we don't really have a middle class anymore. Driving through downtown, you can see it. Western downtown is nice but the farther east you get, the worse stuff gets. There are whole neighborhoods in downtown that are nothing but pollution and burnt-out houses. The people are leaving downtown and moving to the "outer suburbs" where the developers are turning all of the farmland into subdivisions of postage stamp houses. The airport has been slowly dyinf off ever since TWA got bought out and Lambert no longer had enough flights to be considered international anymore.

Our historical areas are in ruin as well. Downtown Soulard (where they hold Mardi Gras) is falling into disrepair. Our city's cool "frontier town" feel is gone.

Things I like? The culture here is so weird. We had BIG Italian, Irish, Bosnian, German and Asian (mostly Vietnamese) populations, so it is very diverse. You can find almost any kind of food you could want. Forest Park is great, although you can't go there alone without risking yourself. There is plenty of cheap/free entertainment (concerts, the zoo, etc...)

Things I dislike? The poverty and filth. It just keeps getting worse and more widespread. Umm... lots of outspoken racism. The way people drive like assholes.

I don't plan on living out my life here. I visited New Orleans when I was 13 and fell in love with the city. The culture and atmosphere just stole my heart. I would really love to live there despite the hurricanes and poverty.

Nothing in my opinion compares to Arizona as far as I'm concerned. There's beautiful desert and wildlife, and tons of history and culture. People are pretty laid back, polite, friendly, and casual. We have awesome climate; no natural disasters like tornadoes or hurricanes, just the occasional dust devil. No humidity (which I LOVE) and the winters are mild. (I can walk around in flip flops all year long) It doesn't rain much.

I agree 100% with Ms. CF. I've lived in Tucson since 1970 (yes, I'm really that old....), and have had plenty of opportunities to move elsewhere, but haven't found a good reason to leave, and stopped looking a long time ago. I love seeing javelina in my driveway. I love lightning striking all around me during a monsoon storm. I love the smell of damp creosote bushes after a rain. Essence de Sonora: one whiff and you're hooked! I love the summer heat in reasonable doses, and CF didn't even mention Tucson's mexican food, which nobody beats. Nobody. (Paris, you missed out on lunch on me at Rosa's during your Az trip last year, when are you coming back?)

My favorite part is the mountains-whenever I leave Tucson and don't have mountains I feel vulnerable.

I live in the "corner" of the Catalinas and the Rincons, at the foot of Agua Caliente Peak, and can get to a great hiking trail in less than 5 minutes. Mountains around me are my compass, and I hate going anywhere that doesn't have a jagged horizon.

I definitely like Tucson better than Phoenix-Phoenix is too busy and crowded for me. I've been in Tucson since 1995, and just moved to a quiet suburb last December. Nothing compares to the desert to me

I think I like living in Tucson better than I would Phoenix, but I definitely enjoy my club playtime better in Phoenix. I've met some great dancers in Tucson, but none compare to the hall of fame in the State of Maricopa. Plus, they seem to able to roll out new freeways up there like carpet, while Tucson is mired in small town mentality that now has traffic approaching crosstown gridlock. Add to this the fact that Arizona is now officially the fastest growing state in the nation, knocking Nevada off the spot it has held for the past 19 years!

To add- I grew up in what I call the shitlands. North Carolina then to South Carolina, where I physically could not leave until a few years ago. This country has a LONG way to go before we can even BE, much less control the idiocy that goes on.

People will do better when they begin to care about those who are dying. There are too many unfortunate people in this country to give to other countries.

California and New York haven't even got it right yet... so how could anyone be safe in the other 48?

I grew up in southern Oregon. I would like to live there again as the majority of my family lives within five miles of I-5 from San Diego to Aberdeen.

I love being outdoors and Oregon is perfect for that. Hiking, Camping, Fishing, Skiing, River Rafting etc. Medford is the place to go for all your shopping needs but, Icky though starting to recover. Ashland has the Shakespearen Theatre going for it. (excellent do go) The small town charm is dieing. The city planning tied with a major influx of Californians has driven the housing out of the reach of alot of People. Though Ashland has the better restuarants. Talent next dooor is booming since it has a more reasonable housing market. Talent is awful so I never thought it would change.

I just wish that the developers would stop with the 5 bedroom mini McMansions and build regular houses. $350,000 to $500,000 for these monsters and they are getting it from people able to flee California.

Summer gets to 115 in August, but without the humidity and cools right down to 70 at night. Winter is cold with lots of rain little or no snow on the Valley floor. Temps can get as low as -2 but for a short time then jumps back up to high 30s low 40s.

Nightlife ummm whats that? One club that plays Top 40 W,F, and Sat with Alt Music Th. One Strip club. The club name changes frequently so I can't tell you what it is now. Many little Hole in the wall taverns and pubs that have the neighborhood feel.

Just a relaxing low key area with Meth being the big problem. Portland is a 3-4 for hour drive North and Sacramento the same south. The coast is a 3 hour drive that go through the Redwood forest (beautiful). Buy your tickets early for the Britt music festival. Southern Oregon has some of the most Hard core Hippies to so enjoy the craft fairs.

I miss Chicago! Not the winters of course. I'm originally from a small suburb just 40 min. NW of the city, then lived in Schaumburg for 2 years then moved out here to Las Vegas and I HATE it. It's soulless, seedy, no culture (oh yeah, gambling & drinking, wohoo ::))

I miss my little Bumble fuck town :( :D

I live in Detroit. The architecture is beautiful, the rent is cheap. This beat and blighted place is just inspiring. I love the city.

Really ? I only know one person from that area but I have not heard not much about it other than the whole closing of the factory thing and it being hard on the people who had worked there .....oh and the winters Burrrrrr . I looked at real estate up there and you can get a really nice house for not to much money at all .

That's hostile. You asked her what her "deal" was like she must be mentally challenged because she doesn't think like you do nor share your opinions.

Alamo, CA. I like it because it's quiet but close enough to the city to party when I want, and everybody has a nice car. I don't like driving around and seeing ghetto trash all over the place so this city is perfect. Lots of trees, too

Austin, TX. Its a liberal oasis in conservative Texas. We have nice lakes less than 30 mins away for boating and watersports. The hill country is nice for camping, hiking, and rockclimbing.

We have all of the arts, plus all the crappy live music you could ever want on any night. Educated population. Universities and politics. Leslie. Devil's Cove aka Stripper Cove. Crime is low here. People speak of party of East Austin as being dangerous, but coming from Houston, it doesn't faze me.

I'm tired of Austin though. I can't go anywhere, even into a mostly empty eastside stripclub, without running into people I know. The music scene is ovverated. The Californians have also invaded. That's good for my business, though, they need somewhere to put their real estate gains.

Oh, and homeless people at EVERY single intersection, although they have that other places. They are everywhere here, and I am afraid I will hit someone one day. This isn't even at street intersections, but right on the frikken interstate!

There is no public transport to speak of, and the city isn't that internationally diverse. For instance, Houston, although a shithole, has superior arts and museum scene.

I would like to eventually have a place in Amsterdam. Not because of the weed and hookers. But its a European city in terms of culture, location, transport, people, liberalness (word?), etc.....things I like.

I am thankful to those people who go over to other countries and try to save those children who can't even be saved by people in their own area.
Thousands of little girls get their clitoris/labia chopped off and it's defended by religion. Just because it doesn't happen in America doesn't mean it isn't important or that it should be ignored.
More importantly, no one can/should tell others how to spend their money or who they should donate to.

Agreed. I wholeheartedly believe that charity begins at home, but when you see foreign women and girls being subjected to these attrocities, it's hard to turn a blind eye.

We have homelessness, hunger, and poverty here, yes, but we have the opportunities to overcome them. It might mean working 3 jobs, or stripping (my obvious choice), or accepting government aid, but it can be done, albeit not easily.

But mutilation is something that these women cannot escape as it's legal. Someone needs to speak out on this and who is to say that we shouldn't be those people?

Meh... as much as I am all for We Need To Fix The Problems In Our Own Backyard.... and we sure as hell do... at least Oprah is sitting ON the fence on this one. She did a show on the poverty in this country, then goes and helps in Africa too.

I'm one of the former homeless in the US. I totally agree that we need to work on that issue here... but if one can help here AND help elsewhere.... groovy.

I can't fault anyone who gives charity. I would prefer if they gave charity in this country. If Oprah wants to give to African-Americans, there are tons in Oakland and South Central who are dying and/or in poverty.
