Seqoquel is some heavy shit!! My friend gave me 1/4 of one once so I could sleep after partying. She went to bed and got up 15 minutes later to find me on her living room floor, unable to move, because I felt that the earth's gravitational pull had changed and was pressuring me into the ground. No, I wasn't passed out yet, I really felt like I weighed 500 pounds! Crazy stuff......

omg, that sound scary, but funny as well!!! ^

Well, I'm having trouble tonight, but tomorrow is sunday, so I should be able to sleep in, as long as I can get there. I'm trying to avoid any scripts, but if this gets much worse......

I'm going to try some new tips tonight, so hopefully:)

Unisom, which is OTC sleeping aid drifts you into sleep after about a half hr and you dont wake up groggy. Very gentle. For extreme measures, Valium worked for me, but I only took it when I was in extreme pain and wanted to be dead to the world for , like, 17 hrs. Unisom is something you can take for a normal 8hr night of sleep and if you wake up before that, it's not too bad.

I wanna change up all three meds I am on... Lunesta being the primary sleep medication. I'd like to try Ambien CR, if a Dr will prescribe it long term.

Are you coming to Key West? If so I will let you try one of mine(or maybe half...I take the highest strength so a whole may be too much for you)

Unisom does nothing for me...neither does valium, lunesta, etc..I could take them by the handful and never feel a thing. Apparently I have a freakishly high tolerance. Which I could understand if I had done drugs ever in my life...but i havent... so how I built up this tolerance i'll never know. Even for surgery....both times I've been under they said they had to give me a high dose to get me out, and i still woke up and had to be dosed again(thank goddess I dont remember waking up during surgery)
Lucky hubby can take half a Unisom and be OUT....wish I could...lot cheaper then my drugs!

OK take this for what its worth. There is such a thing as sleep hygiene which is nonpharmacologic
things that you can do to get a better nights sleep. Just go and google sleep hygiene or . for articles.
The issue with hypnotics (drugs for sleep i.e.Ambien,Lunesta etc)are multiple including dependence(psychological/physical): amnesia of events after taking it and even unusual behavior(binge eating). These are meant to be short term remedies and people can develop tolerance to them("they don't work anymore for me").
Some other things that help if its chronic is biofeedback or other relaxation techniques. Good luck.

I swear by Nyquil. 'Course it may just be a placebo effect by now...

Ambien causes hallucinations for me as it does others here. Out of benzos, such as Xanax and Ativan. Took three Benadryl the other night and only could sleep for a hour before waking up again. Tried milk and it doesn't work. Drinking wine right now but it initially stimulates me. My legs just feel really restless and I can't shut my mind down. I can usually fall to sleep but I wake up in a hour.

Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer Tea is pretty good stuff; I think it does have valerian in it.

Garrison Keillor's voice is like a narcotic to me; I've got tapes and playlists of the News from Lake Wobegon that put me out in no time flat; I only wake up when they stop. (I'm weird, I know.)

Oddly, I seem to sleep better when I take Adderall during the day; I sleep more deeply and don't dream as much (or don't remember my dreams as well.)
