Christie Brinkley, Kathy Ireland, Cindy Crawford, and Niki Taylor are treated like royalty in the press for making the transition from model to businesswoman. Why are they bulletproof and not Tyra?

I don't think they are, but notice they made the transition w/o quickly gaining weight. They probably have all gained 20 lbs over their model weight (not Niki), but they are older than Tyra as well. Tyra has gained well over 30 lbs despite her claims. I would guess 40.

Tyra has admitted to her lack of discipline even when she modeled. If she couldn't do it *then*, it would be next to impossible to do it now. But you learn because you care about how you look. She's not the only skinny person to have a weight problem for the first time ever. It doesn't mean it has to be your destiny, it means you take charge and make changes. *That's* the real message she should be putting out there, not "I'm gaining weight, big deal" because it WILL be a big deal left unchecked.

Someone who's so concerned about women's self image should probably not be hosting America's Next Top Model. Does she think girls don't feel like crap when they watch tht show? It definitely perpetuates the idea that one body type is beautiful; the plus size models always end up going home.
Do you really think so? I actually think the opposite. I think the show caters, absolutely unironically, to making us feel BETTER than they are. That's why I like it. I watch it all "Ha ha ha ha ha! I am SO much better than these girls! They're barely literate. And that one isn't even all that pretty!" Seriously - I'm the only one who will admit to this? Although I agree that the plus size models they have in the first rounds are a joke. Try reading the first few seasons of America's Next Top Model from Television Without Pity - it is one unending joke about Tyra stuffing her face with fried chicken. And then keep in mind that they hired the dude who wrote it. I seriously doubt that would happen if hyper-sensitivity were a big issue.

God, when did being thin become a moral issue? What difference does it make? She is far from being clinically obese, there is no "Well, I look down on her because she's unhealthy" excuse here - this is just because she used to be a thin girl who is now not thin - and, worse yet, has no INTEREST in being thin. It's like her saying that she is willing and happy to be chubby makes her a bad person. Personally, I'm on her side. I would far rather eat ice cream than be skinny.

I guess that's the part that's hard to accept - that she has no interest in being thin.

Tryra definitle has more celluite than ever before. Her face is very pretty. She just always on the TV and it's annoying as hell.
Not everyone in Hollywood has to be dumb skinny to make it.

I think she looks fine. She's always had tits & ass, just more of them now;D I think she's a little chubby right know, but nothing grotesque. It doesn't take away from her pretty face at all. If she truly doesn't care about being thin, then good for her. Wish I could be so enlightened;)

There seems to be a little fat agression going on here;D It's not fat on your body. You shouldn't really care.

Hmmmm..... lets make this a lil more interesting eh'

Do you think that Tyra is more confident in gaining pounds b/c she's a woman of color? This is an open ended question, I will share my opinion later, I'm just curious to see how other women feel race factors in this equation.
