Always loved Free. (British band from the 70's).
Just spotted a recently released CD of live tracks they did for television and radio.
They always were a band that were better live than on record, and this CD reminds you of just how good they were.
There's some vocals from Rodgers on the slower stuff that are quite outstanding - and that's without any studio trickery tidying up his voice!

The Fugees do a hot remake of that old song "Killing Me Softly". Never could stand the ancient original, too sappy, but they sex it up a bit. If you don't have it, you should check it out...

I should really be trying to sleep. Anyhoo, I just found out The Jesus And Mary Chain are playing in NYC in May. (Monday and Tuesday the 21st/22nd, if you're interested) The last time I saw them was on the "Automatic" tour in...February of '90, and there was this new band called Nine Inch Nails opening for them.:O Tix are 45 bucks, but I'm down. So, now, I'm gonna throw on "21 Singles" and take a shower and hit the sack. G'nite.

In honor of me getting Skinny Puppy tickets today, I listened to nothing but SP all day in the car. Notably "ViViSectVI" & "Too Dark Park". It's ridiculous how excited I am. If they play "Shore-Lined Poison" this time, I will die a happy man.

Tom Waits:Rain Dogs. I had to hear "Hang Down Your Head" , it's been in my head all morning. Next up is They Might Be Giants, because "Hot Cha" was also on the brain today. Then I'm going grocery shopping, where I will undoubtedly be subjected to Flaccid Rock's Greatest Hits. I should wear an ipod at the sore to drown it out.

Last night was all about the radio. I was driving allll the way to Jax and I was boppin about to their local stations. One was all 80's, with a bit of late 70's and early 90's... and they were playing a long set of early 90's R&B and hip hop. Man, I was having such a high school flashback! So I've been DLing all that stuff all day.
Then I tuned into Electro Lounge on another station in that area. GREAT stuff. Really out there and awesome. I feel in love with one particular song, so I'm listening to that now... Thievery Corporation - Un Simple Historie. It's slow, jazzy with a lil bit of an R&B beat... every now and then it breaks into a kinda middle easterny beat... with soft, femme vocals in French.
