Since we're up to 5 pages and over 100 posts, maybe somebody should start this again as a new thread.

If so maybe Cassienyc would like to since we so rudely wrenched control away and changed her original premise.

Somebody go for it.

Only three words in English are spelled starting with "dw". What are they ?
PUT that dictionary AWAY ! No cheating ! We're all on the "honor system".

dwell

dwarf

Assuming that you can't use variations on one of the above (dwelling, dwelled, dwarfed, ...) I'm a little stuck on the last one.

Maybe since dwarf can be both a noun and a verb it counts twice!

.......

Oh, I know....dwuh?

One last one. John went to a party. He had a glass of punch. He left, went home and woke up the next day feeling fine. Everyone else at the party drank the punch and died of POISON ! Why didn't John die ?

No, he wasn't immune. No, he wasn't the poisoner. He drank the same punch as everyone else.

DWINDLE !

DWINDLE !

This one was easy, The poison in the punch came from the ice cubes. When the man drank the punch, the ice was fully frozen. Gradually it melted, hence poisoning the punch that the latecomer partiers drank. The moral of the story is don't show up late for a party unless you want to risk possibly dying from bad Jesus Juice

Okay. Everyone else has been eliminated. It's PLM and Layka in the FINAL.

Tom ran for President of the U.S.. His opponent got more popular votes than he did. Tom did not get more electoral votes than his opponent. Tom was elected President. How ? Btw, this has really happened.

Thomas Jefferson (and I forget who) had a tie in electoral votes. Jefferson's opponent had a slight edge in the popular vote. I don't remember much about my APS stuff from high school, but I assume the decision then goes to congress?

Tom was ELECTED President. You're close. It's happened at least twice in U.S. History
I'm using a hypothetical "Tom".

Looks like Layka 's taking a dive. A tied Electoral College throws the election to

The House of Representatives- each state has one vote= most votes wins.Jefferson beat Burr when Hamilton threw N.Y.'s support to him in 1800- one reason Burr killed him in a duel 4 years later. John Quincy Adams beat Jackson in 1824 and the election of 1876 almost went to the House but Hayes "bought" 1 more Electoral vote than Tilden.

I'm suffering from "brain drain". Until tomorrow.

O.K. here we go-

1. A man's body was found lying in an open field. He had multiple fractures and severe blunt force trauma. There were no footprints or any other indications of recent human activity around the body. His body was not dragged or moved in any way. It was mid-June , yet the autopsy was delayed for a full day to allow his body to adequately thaw out. CAUSE OF DEATH- Severe Hypothermia.
How did he die ? How did his body get where it was found ?

2. A loud argument in a rooming house in mid-January caused the manager to call the Police to room 205. A man was lying dead on the floor bleeding from his ear.The room and his roomate were thoroughly searched but no weapon was ever recovered. The roomate was charged and convicted of Murder. How did he do it ?

This is the ULTIMATE. If someone gets this within an hour of posting- I'm declaring them the Undisputed Stripper-Web Brainbuster Champion

3. A man goes to a restaurant and is told the chef has made a special soup de jour- Albatross Bisque. The man orders the soup. Takes a sip and sits back with a puzzled look on his face. He takes another sip and his look of puzzlement turns to one of horror; then disgust and then anger. He races home; takes out a loaded pistol and waits for his father to return from a golf date. As his father walks through the front door his son shoots him fatally and then opens his mouth and blows out his own brains. WHY ?

The man was parasailing (or hang-gliding take your pick) and while looking for an updraft managed to find one at the base of a storm cell that was more than he could handle. He ended up at 30,000 ft + and froze to death.

^^There are confirmed reports of that part happening. Now, why aren't there pieces of a hang glider of parasail lying around?!?!?

After he froze to death he fell out of the harness.

or

He bailed out of the harness in hopes of freefalling then opening a parachute but he got too cold in the freefall and couldn't open his chute.

One more try at this one.

He attampted to stow-away on an airliner by hiding in a landing gear nacelle. Since where he was hiding is neither pressurized or heated, he froze to death in transit (temperatures at 35,000 ft are around -40). He fell out when the plane put its gear down on approach.

ok, this might be a reach, but it smacks of an oedipus sort of thing.

The chef was a woman. The man had been sleeping with her. When he tasted the soup (and let's face it, how many recipies can there be for albatross bisque), it tasted just like the albatross bisque that his father makes for him at home, which happens to be from an old family recipe handed down by his father's ex-wife's (the man's mother) family.

At this point the man realized that he's been sleeping with his mother, he goes crazy, shoots his father, then himself.

Since an albatross is a seabird, was he a sailor?

They used No. 1 in the movie Con-Air when one guy didn't want to get left behind so he jumped on the landing gear as the plane was taxiing.

Eric Stoner
02-13-2007, 09:48 AM
PLM- didn't see "Con-Air"- the frozen stowaway is from an actual case in Long Island back in the 60's. A stowaway from Europe climbed into the wheel-well and froze to death over the Atlantic. As the plane approached JFK and the gear went down the body fell out. It took weeks for the coroner & police to figure out what happened.

Eric Stoner

Golf is not relevant.

I'm going to take a stab at the answer before someone beats me to the punch...

The man and his father were at sea, maybe they were with friends, or his fathers wife. The shipwrecked and the sons mom was missing. His pops told him that she commited suicide, but insisted that he eat inorder to survive. His father fed him albatross soup for awhile so the taste stuck with him. I would say that time went by, his father started to date again.... No biggie. The son went to a restaurant and ordered albatross soup...he realized it tasted NOTHING like what his father fed him, and realized his dad cooked his mom. That's the only reason why he would kill his dad, and he killed hisself out of grief, and the fact that he ate his mommie.

LAYKA WINS ! She was closest- got almost 100 % with very few Q's & guesses. The man, his father and little brother were shipwrecked with nothing to eat. As the father watched his sons slowly starve to death he killed his youngest to save his oldest (and himself) telling the boy they were eating "Albatross Soup". After they were rescued the man never ate people again nor albatross until that fateful day in the restaurant. One or two tastes and he realized that he was not served albatross and what had really happened to his little brother which is why he killed his father and then himself.
