But you said you didn't have any choice in the matter. It wasn't a matter of what you *want* to do.
I think Cameron's point was that you claimed you somehow didn't have any choice in what to eat--that you were required to eat meat for some reason. And she didn't think that made sense, considering all the many non-meat sources of protein.
Had you said, "I like meat and I want to eat it, so there" it would have been a bit different.
I was a vegetarian at the time. I didn't want to eat meat then. Basically, I wasn't getting enough nourishment out of the foods I was eating no matter how much protein I tried to eat it wasn't enough. I was malnourished. I -did- have to eat meat, doctor's orders.
Why the hell am I having a vegetarianism debate? I ate meat because I was anaemic, which is why some people eat meat.. chripes.
Edit: OP deleted. -.-

Yeah, I deleted it because I decided it was too derail-y and beside the point. I'm not gonna tell you what to do with your own body. For real. I just know that doctors receive an average of 8 hours of nutritional education during their training and most are just too old-fashioned to consider that vegetarianism just might be good for you. Afterall, there are plenty of pharmaceuticals for cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, etc. that result from eating meat.

Unless I ate a jar of peanut butter a day, I needed it really bad a few years ago... I had such severe anemia, they were injecting stuff into my IV in the hospital... no vegetarian substitutes worked for me.
And chripes, I'd like to see something other than meat on a menu that has protein.
Uh... a block of cheese? ;/
ya, veggie didn't work for me either. but i eat dairy like mad, meat 4x a week or so.

I worked in a few clubs that had a lower prices entertainer menu option but it was never advertised. We could order soup and salad, or grilled veggies and rice, for pretty cheap.
Until I had too much to drink one night at work and needed to eat, I wasn't aware of that menu. I would have totally taken advantage of it, considering I always got fast food crap at the end of the night anyway. I presume those heavier girls are going to be doing the same thing.
BUT...as another poster mentioned, when I danced, I pretty much ate anything I wanted and was tiny. A restricted menu is just a waste of time and energy.

I'm not sure if this was serious or toungue in cheek...you do know that there a million other places to get protein other then meat right?
I hated the food at every club I've been at and rarely ate at work. There was never anything for me....I'd have a piece of pizza once in a blue moon if I was hungry and they had plain cheese...but yeah..almost everything had meat in it so I was SOL.
She had anaemia, so she's talking about iron rather than protein. It's difficult to get readily absorbable (haem) iron from non-animal foods.

I have a cpl of friends like that...if they dont get meat they get sick. For some reason, protein from other sources doesnt process for them as well.
I even feel like that sometimes. Most of the time I'm fine(and I actually cant eat red meat or pork because of a pancreatic condition...I double over in extreme pain if I do) but at times I get weak and have to eat a piece of chicken or fish. No amount of beans, nuts, etc will help. Odd...there's so much protein in other places...but it must have something to do with how it is processed in the body..
It's probably to do with iron and B12 rather than protein, since these are the elements it is difficult to obtain from a diet that does not include animal products.

Aiieee.. that's what I meant... argh... I even thought that but with everyone saying 'protein', I got confused.

Without controlling alcohol intake too food restriction is a waste of time.
