I'm stuck between Chelsea and Robyn! I want something really easy for people to pronounce/remember that doesn't sound too stuck up (I don't want to come across like that). I'm leaning towards Robyn . . .

Natasha. It's European, and so am I.
That's the only name I have ever danced by.
My mother was going to name me Natasha, but it was too common at the time.
It is exotic.
People can't understand my real name anyway because of my accent.
Zinaida
03-19-2008, 11:47 AM
I've been a Chloe, a Zinaida and a Claudia.
I picked Chloe because it was short and cute and I've liked it since I was a kid. Although while using it in the SC, I grew to hate it. Zinaida is my favorite name in the world but no one could understand me when I said it. As for Claudia; I just always liked that too. I think I look like what I picture the name "Claudia" looks like, if that makes any sense.

For one of my stage names...different people have metioned I strut when I walk or they ask why do I feel like I am on a runway, so I chose Naomi. Not to mention I love her to death.

I use "trouble" ...when pressed for my real name, i say its "faith"..."and without faith you're in trouble." It gets a laugh from MOST of the guys. ..

I chose Nyko because it relfects myself and my lifesytle. Brooks is my last name.

I've done two shifts so far under "Holly" and both days the DJ accidentally announced me under my old name...lolocaust. I picked it cause it is easy to pronounce and it's for Holly Valentine of Hyper Crush.
When asked for my real name I usually turn it into a guessing game and end with "Emily."

Mine is Angelica. I went into my first club to ask about cocktail waitress jobs... A dancer took me under her wing and had me naked on stage in an hour. The DJ asked for my stage name, I didn't have a clue, she dubbed me Angelica! lol
Havana
07-08-2008, 10:22 PM
Havana... because it's sexy, unique, nostalgic & well... answers the question about at least half of my heritage.
Although, when I get back to dancing after recovering from surgery, I'm contemplating changing my stage name to Rio, Marina or Viviana.

My manager when i first started told me i look great in red and should have most of my costumes red theamed. while picking out costumes from the club shop asked if i thought of a stage name yet. and i happened i blurted out Scarlet, it stuck, i just changed the spelling when i applied for my abn
Leona_Anne
07-09-2008, 11:43 PM
Leona, cause I think it is the most beautiful name in the world. It means a female lion or queen of the jungle, if you will. I think it's a strong, powerful name and if I were to ever have a daughter, I would name her Leona Renee <my last name>.
shasta
07-10-2008, 03:37 AM
So, when I first started it was Shasta at a bikini bar. I worked with a beautiful girl named Shasta once at a different job and named myself after her. I went up to Vancouver and eventually used my real name. I moved to Seattle and called myself "Sapphire." Why? I have really blue eyes and that is what customers seem to remember most about my appearance. I hated Sapphire because it is so fake sounding.
This past may I danced in Texas for a month and called myself... er...um... Emily. Why? I named myself after SW's Emily. We are both hardworking and down to earth people. I wanted a new name, and hay, it's working for her, so I thought I would give it a try.
I have since come back to my home club in Tucson and have changed my name to Emily. Many people are sticking to Sapphire, but I like change.

For those who are thinking of a new stage name, here's a list of women warriors in literature and pop culture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_women_warriors_in_folklore%2C_literature%2 C_and_popular_culture) for inspiration.
Been thinking new names for myself, so far I've got Charlie, Ruby(Tuesday), Bonnie(&Clyde), Goldi... and Scully!
I think Charlie used to be common stripper name in the past but has become rare nowadays(?). If I'll get an asshole customer I can tell him that I was born the same day as Charlie Manson.}:D
The funniest stripper name story(here in SW) was about a girl who took her name from Silence of the Lambs, Sterling. But the DJ's pronunciation and the noise made it sound like Stalin. It still makes me laugh just imagening guys sitting there and "GENTLEMEN...OUR NEXT SEXY PERFORMER...STA-LINg"
That would be totally badass name, I'd be expecting something like AngelinaJolie/DarthVader cyborg to walk on the stage ;D

Kamryn :) Pronounced the same as Cameron. It was my first day and I still hadn't picked a name out. I had to leave in a few hours, and was coming up empty.
I asked my husband for help. A few hours later, as he's peeing - he yells, "How about Cameron???" "That sounds like a hot California-type blonde name". LOL! Classic.
Anyhow, I was sold. Loved it. Sounded unique but not overly "stripper-ish" or silly. And it COULD very well be my real name. Then I played with the spelling a bit, and got Kamryn.
That's my story (and yes, I did a search on Stage Names to find a thread! Haha)

When I started, my boyfriend made an awesome list of stripper names too! He came up with some really great ones - Electra, Athena and Cameron was one of them! I didn't go with any of his, but they were good, he didn't even know that there are already, like a million Athena's already out there, but he just thought it was stripper-y.

Kisa7513
10-29-2008, 03:50 PM
When I first started dancing I had a veteran dancer help me pick my name. Where I started in SoCal, she was kind of the one everyone looked up to and she named me Savannah. When I came out and started dancing in Vegas, my club had a lot of Savannah's so I had to come up with a different name and after going through every name I could think of, most of which were girls I danced with back in California, the only name that was not taken was Kisa. It means Kiss in Russian and is Finnish for Cat. It was only going to be temporary until I could think of a better name, but just ended up sticking and so eight and a half years later, I am still Kisa and no one can imagine me as anything else.

When I started dancing, I had a hard time choosing between Molly and Andy so I just let one of my friends decide. She picked Andy because she said she'd never met a stripper named Andy at any club she had worked at. (Yay! A unique but easy name! Hehe.)
I don't know why I liked Molly, it's just a cute name and I could see myself answering to it. Andy is my first boyfriend in high school's name. I thought it would be cute for a girl and I never get tired of hearing it. And it's a name that everyone has heard before so nobody has a hard time with it. That's definitely a good thing when you're in the club!

I go by *gasp* Tempest because I love Shakespeare and in this crappy battered anthology I used to have when I was a kid The Tempest was the first play in there, so it kinda stuck. I tried to break away from "Tempest" in El Paso. I was "Harley Quinn" at Pure Platinum, "Kittin" at Nero's (ugh don't ever go there)By the way it was a typho and the spelling just stuck. When I got back to Albuquerque I just accepted the fact that everyone knows me as Tempest and I'll always be that name. Its hard as hell to translate the meaning for my spanish speaking customers. "kittin" was wayyyy easier to translate. LOL Anyways I am a huge nerd. :)

i hate when girls have names like peaches. it just seems like every "peaches" i know is a complete bitch!
if you go by peaches and you're not a bitch, sorry in advance.
Dude I got in a fistfight with this fat ho named peaches in Springfield, Mo. I laughed when I saw your post. Dirty girl too. she used to move her thong aside on stage. It worked, though. She was completely methed out and sucker punched me when I was on the phone. To be fair, not all peaches are bitches.

I know I´m a bit delayed here but...
I´m VERONICA because I used to love the Archie comics as a kid.
Betty was kind of a pathetic idiot and Veronica got all the boys to bring her sweets and mow the lawn and whatever. And she never put out. So that is my stripper persona. Give me shit and you´re getting very very little in return.
HA.

I'm currently going by Anya. Just a simple Russian name ... another girl actually suggested it to me. I had been going by Yelena, but it was getting tough for the custies to hear it over the music. I'd get asked 4 or 5 times what my name was. So annoying.
I've also gone by Velvet, which was fun. I'm a seamstress in my spare time, so it was either that or Satin or Satine, but I didn't want the Moulin Rouge vibe. lol
Victoria was another favorite. When I switch clubs, I think I'm going back to that one. Even though I'm Russian and pretty much LOOK like I am, I don't have a real thick accent anymore and I get accused of not really being what I say I am, etc. Fucking irritating. lol
cadencetyme
12-22-2008, 11:58 AM
Cadence. Because im an army bratt. That is a part of my persona at work. (its also true).
My name is totally my opener when talking to men. The military family thing also makes me more relatable/down to earth to the men as im extremely exotic looking for the area that i work in.
Worse names ive ever danced under were Gemini and Iriquios. I dunno what i was thinking.

my stage name is my real first name. i see no reason to hav a fake name.
however, i hav thought about changing my name to RYAN cos its unusual and memorable.
I wish I could use my real name too but most of the time the clubs require you to use a fake name. It helps me separate myself from my work. I am Parris at work and Brandi at home with my husband.;D

Postmodern Cinderella
02-18-2009, 02:22 PM
I go by Cinderella because
1. I look like Cinderella, and I wear theme costumes
2. its a hot, unforgettable name
3. No one will ask me if it is my real name, because obviously it is not
4. I am the one and only Cinderella

Lilith, because I love the story behind her, regarded traditionally as "evil," rebellious, feminist, domineering. And I love the sound of it; it's a more exotic sounding form of "Lily."

I went by "Lucy" at Hustler last year, which was half a Beatles reference (it was awesome when I would climb the pole and the dj would announce "Lucy's in the sky...!") and I have red hair like Lucille Ball....that name worked out really well! It was memorable.
I just won an amateur night this past Sunday lol.....and I went by "Penny Lane" which again, another Beatles reference, plus this other girl at Hustler had it and I LOVED it. I didn't think it suited her very well either! Penny Lane was a BIG hit at the amateur contest though, I think I'm gonna use that from now on if I dance somewhere again!
Deini
02-20-2009, 01:27 AM
i usually went for deini short for my complicated first name-but everyone keeps calling me demi didn't mind until i realised there was another demi and people started mixing me up fpr her.
Now that i went ash blond, bob I want to go for Mila. I actually intend to change my real name to that. Also i (when younger and obviously mad.) I tattooed a small heart with M in it on top of my left breast, now im tired of guys asking what it's for.
I tend to just say the truth-First Love. What can i say, I’m a romantic.
Now as Mila, and later officially. I can say it’s my name-For the girl that i am at heart. It’s a very cool story to tell too.

I wanted to be Reina or Leila at first, which both ended up being taken. I was at a loss for what my name should be and I didn't have time to think because they had me work the first night of my audition, so the house mom asked me what my best friend's name was and I said "Rachel," which sadly WAS available, so now I'm Rachel. It's easy to remember even if it is plain, and people rarely ask me what my real name is. I think next time I'll name myself Moxie after my boyfriend's sister's cat, lol. It's supposed to mean " Spirited" or "Energy" which is nice and the DJ could announce me as Foxie Moxie, or some such silliness. :-)

[quote=Korina;990776]I knew a dancer named "Jo". I really liked that. It suited her. She had a unique beauty. Tallish, quite thin, short, tousled strawberry redish hair and cat like green eyes. I guess I did kind of have a crush on her.

Maggie Mae. Both because I look like an Irish milkmaid, and because of not one, but 2 fabulous songs.
I'm thinking of dancing under Gadget when I switch clubs. It seems to suit me.
AmbrosiaSpice
06-15-2009, 10:50 AM
My stage name is Ambrosia, and I absolutely love it. My real name contains the exact same first TWO letters (not just one, but two), so correcting myself upon an introduction - should that ever be a problem - will be easier.
I thought about dancing with the names Jasmine or Amethyst for a few months. I'd ask people which they liked better, and neither was met with much enthusiasm (I asked friends who really knew me, and neither seemed to fit perfectly, although Jasmine got better responses). But Jasmine is a common stage name, and I wanted something special.
I am not even sure how I first came across the word "ambrosia." I believe it might have been some Wikipedia word of the day or something; I feel like it found me. But as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted it to be mine - and when I looked up the meaning (nectar of the Gods, food/drink of the Gods), I was completely convinced. I was insanely sure of it; when I asked people's opinions (even though at that point I didn't even care what they thought), all unanimously agreed that it suited me.
And now, when I hear my stage name in the club, I respond to it with threads of that same knee-jerk response I hear when I hear my own name. It's wonderful.
From Wikipedia: "Ambrosia is often depicted as conferring ageless immortality upon whoever consumes it. It was brought to the gods in Olympus by doves, so may have been thought of in the Homeric tradition as a kind of divine exhalation of the Earth."
Divine exhalation of the Earth. Yes, I'll take that.
