This is a fun thread! I'd say the "tampon" rule is the winner!

Here are some dumb rules I've encountered:

1. Dancers MUST be on stage at exactly the time they've been scheduled, 2:00pm, 2:10pm, 4:00pm, 4:10pm, 4:20pm etc. And all of their subsequent stage sets are scheduled exactly to the minute through the rest of the shift. (This is a throw back to when this club was stage dancing only, so that each dancer gets the exact same amount of time on stage no matter what shift she is working. Now they have a VIP area, so I'm not sure how it works anymore).

2. Dancers must wear garter belts and stockings at 6pm, 9pm and midnight for that entire hour. (I'm not sure why)

3. Dancers may not hold a full spread, nude move for longer than 30 seconds. (Do you know how long 30 seconds is?? That is really quite a long time to just lay there with your legs open)

4. Dancers may not touch their own breasts or buttocks, either clothed or nude, at any time while in the public portions of the bar. (This was a law. It has been overturned.)

5. Dancers were limited to dancing to only a certain play list. The bar would not provide CDs though. The dancers had to go buy CDs according to the club's play list. Sometimes the girls would dance to the radio:D instead!

6. Dancers were only allowed to sit with customers at the bar. Joining customers at their tables was a firing offense. (Shotgun Willies)

7. Dancers were not allowed to ask customers for dances. (Shotgun Willies)

8. Dancers were required to sell at least 6 private dances a shift. (Shotgun Willies, as well. Now please tell me how this is supposed to work? The rules have since changed;))

9. A manager took it upon herself to require all dancers to have at least one shot or alcoholic beverage before the dancer could go to work. She told me she didn't trust anyone who didn't drink in this business::). (I told her that I was diabetic and could die if I drank alcohol, but if it made her feel better, I did smoke a joint just before coming to work...She said that was okay then. UGH!)

10. "Don't shove your pussy while on stage" was a rule at one club I worked at. When I asked what that meant, the manager said it was exactly what it sounds like. When I gave him a confused look he just said "Just don't do it!" I asked him if he could demonstrate because I really wasn't sure what that meant. He told me to "Stop being difficult":-\.

8. no food in the dressing room, no drink in the dressing room, including water. if caught, $150 fine

That's just wrong-what are you supposed to do when you get thirsty? Hopefully you don't have too long of a shift. Are you allowed to eat at all, or just not in the dressing room? Shit, most managers I know of prefer the girls to eat in the dressing room so they're not stuffing their faces in front of customers. LOL

haha katrine. my club has a no booty short rule. i have been wearing a small boy short type bottom for months. i made the mistake of running out of vip without my dress. manager saw it. i kept wearing them. last week he told me to turn my bottoms in to him!!!!! wtf. i was like i will change but i wear these at other clubs i'm not giving them to you.
nevermind that those bottoms are actaully legal....
also we can only wear gowns on the weekends. i have several beatutiful robes. nope thats not a gown. however the dresses that are held togather with a small ring (basically a two peice) are. bleh

At one of the clubs I worked at there only 5 girls allowed in the locker room at one time. If there were 5 girls in the locker room already you would have to stand outside the door and wait for someone to come out

A club I worked at in PA

1. $100.00 if you called off or didn't show up. Didn't matter if you had a doctors note.
2. All cell phones had to be checked in with the manager and you were only allowed to talk for 10 minutes a shift (makes it hard when customers call you to see if your working) Not to mention if someone actually has to reach you in an emergency
3. (old club in Florida) you had to pay $1 everytime you swore in the dressing room (but don't worry you can swear on the floor all you want)
4. Pasties

Makes me appreciate my current club although I think some of those rules were overturned

I worked at a club where you weren't allowed to shave you pubes all of the way off. That was like wearing 2 g-strings

I love it when club managers make up rules and say its the law. My favorite they tell the girls is don't give or take phone numbers, thats solicitation of prostitution, you could get arrested, they could lose their license, etc. That's a load of bull. You can't tell me some city/county passed a law making it illegal to give phone numbers. I know why club management doesn't want you to do it, but to say it's the law...Puhleeze!

A lot of rules get created because at some point in time, the girls at your club got out of hand.

Gum - you'd find it on the stage
limit on the dressing room - there were probably nights where the dressing room was packed and no girls on the floor
no shots - pretty obvious, too many drunk dancers
no eating at all - well, that sounds pretty dumb
tampons - do the managers check? I don't want that job.

As far as rules where the clubs make money, sometimes that sucks for staff too. When you girls have to pay 10% on funny money at clubs, so do the DJ's. So i hate it when you girls give them to me at tipout time.

I hope clubs don't start making the staff follow any more of those dancer rules. I don't think I could talk on the mic if I have to wear a tampon!! :O

Well, in my five years in this industry, here's some of the weird rules I've had to deal with:
* Had to cover up my thong backed anything while on the floor (really went with some of my outfits! *not*)
* Could not crook my finger in a "come here" motion from the stage (mgmt said it was quote- tacky :O )
* Could not go over $25 a dance or we'd be fined (but they took $5 from us each dance, which is why we were charging $30 in the first place)
* Required to wear gowns on night shift, since mgmt wanted to promote what an "upscale" club we were (note: get classy girls THEN the classy outfits- the gowns didn't last long)
* No chewing gum out on the floor- but you could smoke ALL you wanted. :boggled:
Will post more when I can think of them.

We hate getting paid that way, too. No one wants to pay a surcharge just to collect his/her earnings.::)

I worked in a club where you weren't allowed to bring food or drink into the club.. but you were allowed to order it (the club didn't have food - you ordered it from outside places).

One had a rule to not put hair in the toilets.

Another MADE you give them their tips all face-up with the bills in order and all facing the right direction or they'd fine you.

$300 fine for being late OR not show up on a holiday.

HOLY SHIT!

Everytime I think I have it bad, I'm gonna come back and read this thread! You poor babies! Come visit me when you get sick of the stupid rules! ;)

I am super fortunate to work at a club where the rules are pretty much as follows:

you cant approach a customer before the waitress sells him a drink (this applies to dayshift only)

thats pretty much it!

dresscode? dont have one! some days--like easter sunday for example--i walked around in really cute low jeans, a band tshirt and my lucky socks...lol...and walked w almost 700 bucks...that was only working from 2pm till 7pm....

we dont have any sort of dress code...we wear what we want

tip out? dayshift...30 bucks no matter how much you make
nightshift....42 same thing

no DJ to harass you and take 10%!!

(this sounds like such a shameless plug, doesnt it?! haha)

we have no schedules, no funny money, no selling requirements....

Granted, we have SLOWWWW days, and good days...but i'll live with the few slow days for the absence of the rediculous rules!!

Hope you guys had a good easter!

Lol, its illegal for dancers and customers to exchange phone numbers in Queensland - not sure if it still is but when the law 1st came in I heard it was a $10,000 fine!

There was also another stupid law at one point that dancers wernt allowed to take their g-strings off on stage without covering with one hand. But the hand had to be 10cm away from your pussy otherwise it was considered masturbation. Stupid or what?!

I also hate dress codes for dancers though clubs that have uniforms are the worst!

I have to say that I was thinking about all these tip outs and what not... but if you think about how you have to pay to work there a lot of people don't understand that... but you pay to work other jobs too (not all but some as well) like truck driving or pay for college or what not.. It all is the same.

In Orlando there are a lot of weird rules. I will agree with what a lot of girls said on here about gowns, clapping, not touching your buttocks, dancing two feet away, pasties, changing outfits, no tattoos, must have your finger nails manicured, etc.

That's why I left. New club to find with better rules is great even if I have to drive further, it's worth it to be treated better.

Had to wear a 'cover-up' over all bottoms when on the floor... like the skirts you may wear to the beach... even if you were wearing booty shorts that completely covered your butt. Looked completely stupid and usually if you did have some sort of skirt, it never matched the outfit you were already wearing.

we recently got that rule.

Shotguns... My best friend came to us at Diamond (from shotguns) about 2 1/2 months ago... says she knows you. (wendy) we also have Elise... Jordan... and a few other girls....

I was going to bitch.... but really can't that much... We are told not to chew gum. If we're eating, without sitting with a customer, we have to eat in the back. Only if a certain manager is there though. No licking your nipples... When you dance on the same stage as another girl you're not suppose to face eachother if you're topless. "no phones on the floor" but it's not ever enforced...... I can't really bitch though.... day shift if you're there before 11am you don't pay house fees.... we don't have to pay anything if we're on time.... $5 valet parking but i usually give the morning valet $10 and then night valet $20. %10 of what you make goes to the DJ. We tip out the bartender only if he/she "hooks us up". We can't have any outside drinks on the floor (not enforced). The club gets 10% of what we 'cash in' with our "diamond dollars" (looks like poker chips guys can buy with their credit cards). If you get bought off the list (you don't have to dance) it's $100 an hour.... the club gets $25 of that per hour.... most managers don't do it though.... only one of them. Girls aren't suppose to hang out outside of the club.... not enforced... yeah i pretty much love my club though.

Oh, don't know why I forgot this. Anyone in Indiana knows this ridiculous law: dancers are required to wear "pasties" only on their nipples (law doesn't say areola). So, in practive this means that every club office in Indiana is stocked with boxes of band-aids and scissors. You cut off the tiniest little bit you can (i'm talking, like, smaller than a pencil eraser) and put that right on the tip of your nipple. The justification for this is that women can lactate and breast milk carries HIV, therefore a tiny piece of band-aid is all it takes to protect the denizens of Indiana from this infectious disease.

No, we are not very bright here.

Last week I worked at a club that had the dumbest rule. First off this club is so small that my it would fit in the smallest vip room in my home club.
Anyway this is the rule, when it's a managers birthday, all of the girls have to stop what they're doing and get on stage and dance. All of the money thrown goes to the manager. The dumb part other than having to stop what you're doing or you'll get fined, is that this goes on for a full hour. The last hour of the club being open. There is a alot of money to be made right before a club closes, and they take it away with this dumb ass hour long birtday dance, and then they want tip out on top of that.
Got ya up there with your feet hurting and you lose an hour of hustle time.
Boooooooo!

At Big Louies in MO, if the managers thought you weren't busy or you did something wrong, they would make you walk around selling hershey kisses for a dollar. We'd give em the chocolate, then peck em on the cheek or ear.
I eventually quit because management drove me insance:p

LOL that is amazingly ridiculous.

Our only bathroom is a long way away from the dressing room, so many of our very respected girls "pop a squat" in the dressing room trash can.
It is very disgusting and the entire dressing room smells of piss and pads after 7pm. *gag*

yeah.... not bright at all..... breastmilk is the only 'bodily liquid' NOT consitered a biohazard by the CDC.

from the CDC website: (http://www.cdc.gov/breastfeeding/disease/hiv.htm)

Are special precautions needed for handling breast milk?
No special precautions exist for handling expressed human milk, nor does the milk require special labeling. It is not considered a biohazard. The Universal Precautions (http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00000039.htm) to prevent the transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), Hepatitis B virus, and other bloodborne pathogens do not apply to human milk.

okay these club rules make me very grateful to be in a small town hillbilly club we get there about 6 - 630 club opens at 6ish we dont start sdancing till were dressed no fines (well i think i was fined for being late once in a year there and i was new) 10% tip out. other than normal tip out we keep all of what we make on dances and they get $5 out of a $10 picture for film cost.

our dumb rules
no taking dollars with your mouth
you have to keep one foot on the floor at all times in lapdance area
no leaning over the tip rail and when guys lay on your stage you dance from top not from bottom.

oh and im anti no outside caemras rules too (the first club i worked at allowed them and i got some great shots from some of our regulars and some prettty funny video tape from my first couple of weeks out there:)

my biggest complaint about my club management is that we need more law and order and maybe to take the bottles out of some of our dancers hands!

YOu guys sound like you have it much worse though girls who pee in the ddressing room? makes me glad we have our own dressing rooms (max 3 girls to a room) here

1. paying a 10% surcharge for all funny money you redeem at the end of the night. It's not enough that the customer has already paid a 10% surcharge on that SAME amount of money.

2. $1 fine for saying "fuck", though any other word you can come up with is perfectly respectable.

3. No walking around with lit cigarettes or glasses/bottles of alcohol. If you want to move from one table to the next, you need to get a cocktail waitress to put it on her little fucking tray and move it for you.

Only dumb rule I can think of: If you leave early for any reason, including family emergency, you get fined $20, plus your house fee is doubled.

Funny Money is usually Poker Chips, Plastic Cards or Fake Dollar Bills with the club's logo on, which customers can buy with a credit card at an inflated price to exchange for dances or use as tips when they have run out of cash.
Dancers are sometimes charged a fee to cash them in for real money, and sometimes there is a waiting time to do so.

Kaylinn
04-21-2007, 07:52 AM
^^ and sometimes theres a time limit!
At one club, if you dont cash them in before 6am every day, they expire, and you can't cash them in, ever. I don't know how that's legal. A dancer is entitled to her money.

I know it's been mentioned on here that it's stupid but I think there are good reasons behind the dont move your own drink and don't walk around smoking .rules.

First off walking around with a drink makes you look like a party girl/ drunk. Even if you aren't. Plus it helps you in a few ways

One it helps you not drink as much sometimes, two it guides you on who is and isn't going to spend money. If a customer won't budge on even a water...you know to move your ass.

They make the dont move your own drink around rule so that they can increase their bar sales..that's the first thing. But second because they dont want to give off the appearane that girls are only there to party.

Now on with smoking. If you are walking around with a lit cigerette you look fucking trashy. Point blank. there is nothing alluring or sexy about the shit. If you smoke, sit and have one ..there is no need to walk around with a cigerette ..hoping from table to table. Plus not all customers want a girl that smokes. Most don't care but a lot that plan on spending time in champagne and vip rooms do care. Since they'll be with you for an extended period of time.

I mean its' all about an apperance truly. And nothing more

I still think the nipple tape in Indiana serves no purpose and the no chewing of gum on the floor is pretty fucking ghey too

Darkshard
04-22-2007, 07:03 PM
While I certainly understand the 'no walking around with a cigarette' rule.

In this day in age, what girl, in any bar, regular or SC leaves their drink at the table? I'd be freakin terrified some asshat would put something in it :(

Lysondra

^ I don't understand that either! I go one step further and cover up my drink with my hand at all times.

i think the point of that is leave your drink if you're leaving the guy. that way each new guy needs to buy you a new drink.

High_Maintenance
04-22-2007, 08:27 PM
wow i actually have a couple of them from several of the places that I have worked:

1. you cannot bring energy drinks into the club; they must be purchased at the bar...if you got caught you got fined $50.

2. your not allowed to wear your har in an updo.

3. You cannot sit after 12am on the main floor.

4. THIS ONE IS EXTREMELY BOGUS, IT IS NOT A RULE BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD ADD IT..... OK SO YOU DID A LAP DANCE FOR 6 MINUTES FOR ONLY $30 & THE CATCH IS THAT YOU DIDNT GET PAID YOUR LAPDANCE MONEY FOR THE WHOLE WEEK UNTIL THE END OF THAT WEEK....:O (THAT IS WHERE THEY STOLE ALOT OF THE DANCERS MONEY)

5. from 8-830 pm you are not allowed into the dressing room bcus the day girls are changing...even if you had to pee badly you cant go in until 8:30 (mind you our dressing room is the girls public bathroom)

6. no show for a shift= $200, come in at 7:45-8:20 $25 fine, 8:20-8:45 $50 fine, 8:45- 9:30 $75 and 9:30 -10:00 = $100 fine...(and you ave to pay the house fee of $180)

7. no "boy shorts"

8. I worked in a pastie bar and we had to wear all the same matching uniforms very tacky ones...WITH SOCKSS ON & SANDALS...if you didnt wear the socks you got fined $50 ::)
