If you call in sick it's a $300 fine, no matter what. Whether you have a dr.'s excuse or not. You don't even get a receipt for the fine either. And the way things have been going $300 is almost impossible to make in one night. No floorwork is allowed, no stage names, $100 fine if you don't take off your underwear (it's a nude club, but $100?!) Dancers aren't allowed to eat after 7pm, but waitresses, floorstaff and everyone else can, and they do. They all just mow down in front of us while we're drooling and chewing on a celery stick, cuz that's what we get to eat if anything.

The eating rule sounds awful, like a supercontroling abusing boyfriend or something. I'm not a legal expert but even as an independent contractor my guess is it's illegal as hell for them to not accept a doctor's note for a sick absence.

i think the point of that is leave your drink if you're leaving the guy. that way each new guy needs to buy you a new drink.

Yep. I agree

9. this one is ridiculous i auditioned for this very popular club...scores ny..ok so i got the job...under 1 circumstance...I HAD TO GET A GYM MEMBERSHIP BCUS I WAS " BIG"...mean while I am 5'4 & 100 lbs...WTTFF???....and I am very attractive (im not being conceited) so i couldnt understand why they said that to me...i guess they want all their dancers to be anorexic skinny ::)

Going less than 100lbs at 5'4" is definitely anorexic skinny. That's almost like "hospitalize me" skinny. Are you sure they just didn't want you to tone your muscles or maybe it was for another reason? Either way, that is so f'd up.

Remeber that thread a while back where we all listed the horrible stripper names? Well I thought it'd be fun to start one for some of the dumb ass rules that some of our clubs have. We all know that rules are important, but we all know some are just dumb, like these:

Worked at a club were you couldn't say Bitch in the dressing room. We could say hoe, slut, cunt pretty much anything else we wanted, but not Bitch. It was a 10 dollar fine if you were caught saying it. And get this, The dJ said Bitch all the time in the mic.

Another club if you don't sell five drinks, you owe the club 30 bucks, one time I sold 4, and they were like you owe us 30 bucks. I ended up buying the last one myself, and I don't even drink.

Same club you have to dance bare foot on stage 2 because it cost 1000 bucks, and they didn't want anybody's shoes to scratch it.

In Western Mo. Both of the clubs down there don't allow you talk on your cell phone, not even in the dressing room. In fact they would like for you not to even bring your cell phone to the club.

Well those are just a few. I can't wait to hear some of yours ;D

Dancing barefoot on the stage?! That's IGNORANT and a perfect way to get atheletes foot, ewww!

No cell phone @ work, no me there! I have to be avaliable if hubby calls, no if's and's or but's! Hey I haven't seen him in a LONG TIME, phone calls are better than nothing, lol! ;)

O M G. Why? I'm fairly smart, but I can't imagine one reason. Clue me in.

Damn, I know Deja Vu clubs are the kings of lame rules (I worked in one) but wtf is up with that?:O

No shit right?!

There is NO WAY anyone but me or my hubby is sticking their grubby paws on my hooter, especially IN it, fuck that noise, lol!

Oh, don't know why I forgot this. Anyone in Indiana knows this ridiculous law: dancers are required to wear "pasties" only on their nipples (law doesn't say areola). So, in practive this means that every club office in Indiana is stocked with boxes of band-aids and scissors. You cut off the tiniest little bit you can (i'm talking, like, smaller than a pencil eraser) and put that right on the tip of your nipple. The justification for this is that women can lactate and breast milk carries HIV, therefore a tiny piece of band-aid is all it takes to protect the denizens of Indiana from this infectious disease.

No, we are not very bright here.

Actually state law is the full areola. Excise just made a run through this area 2 weeks ago and told us all that for future reference, lol.

At my club dancers are not allowed to eat on the floor, although anyone else that works there can. I don't get it. Why does it only look bad for a dancer to be seen eating but not the bartenders, or the bouncers, or the DJ, or the managers... Apparently it only looks bad when we do it. Besides, we can't eat on the floor because it'll make us look bad, but girls can hop up on the bar counter and spreadeagle in front of a guy's face or fake hump themselves on stage and that looks perfectly ladylike? /:O

this isn't a rule...but it IS dumb.
Our closed at 11pm the Sunday before Christmas for their annual party. The annual "employee" Christmas party. Meaning the dancers aren't allowed.

The club I work in now is great, but there is one thing I don't understand, and am not used to. You have to still do your stages, even if you have a customer in the Champagne room. Is this common practice at alot of clubs? Every other place I have worked, if you sold a CR the host would tell the DJ that you were back there so he would skip you in the stage rotation.
It just seems weird to me, because the customer not only pays a cover to get back there, but is also paying triple the cost of a floor dance......and I have to get up and leave him sitting there every time I am called on stage? It just seems a little unfair to the customer.

I worked in a club for about two weeks, where dancers weren't allowed to talk to the DJ, and vice versa--except very briefly to request music. I didn't find out until after I quit (it was the worst money ever), but I wondered why they didn't seem very friendly, lol.

Whoever was the initiator would get fined, apparently. Thank god they never did try to fine me on those occasions where I did initiate a conversation, because I would have walked out immediately--breaking one of the cardinal rules of DJ employment. Never walk out in the middle of a shift, if you want to preserve any kind of reputation, or ever have a chance to work at that club again.

Apparently they had had trouble with DJs and dancers fucking, even though it was grounds for getting fired. Nonetheless one dancer did proposition me, lol.

Yeah, unfair to you, too! After you go through all the bullshit, approaching the guy, breaking down resistance, talking him into it--then you get yanked out?? That's bullshit...

I did work in several clubs where any dancers doing any dances whatsoever, CR or not, got skipped. This was great for the dancers, of course, but pretty tough on the DJ, lol!

I worked in a club where you had to do a mandatory stage set even if you were booked in VIP. Your customer was expected to wait for you to finish and then return to the dances. I imagine the mood got ruined a lot.
You were also expected to go on stage even if you weren't ready. For instance, there could be three girls on shift and you just walked in the door, still in your pajamas and yesterday's makeup. If those girls finish their stage sets, you are next in line. And guess what? Get your ass on stage. You could have on no makeup and half of your track weave coming out and they still expect you to get on stage. It was so stupid. I hated that club.

Everybody can order take out except dancers. And we have to work 7-9 hours shifts. So if you forget to bring food you're screwed. I guess its because "we'll all leave the floor and go eat". You'd think they could just say only x amount of girls out back eating at a time.

That would make sense.

I have seen dancers expect to get skipped on rotation so they could eat, or because they just ate--which is very unprofessional, unless there are 80 dancers there and they all like going onstage. Maybe that's why they have that rule, but too bad it's so draconian.

I definitely believe you were told that, but that is not the law. Apparently those agents *want* that to be the law, but, as of now, the Indiana Code states that entertainmers are "not permitted to appear in a state of full nudity" which is defined, in part as "showing of the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering of any part of the nipple". I imagine it was written by lawmakers that don't fully understand the anatomy of a breast, calling that whole thing on top a "nipple". :D

http://www.in.gov/legislative/bills/1999/IN/IN0258.1.html

The only reason I know the code so intimately is that I was involved in a group in college that sought to reform the sexist nudity laws of the state of Indiana (i.e. women's breasts are criminial but men's are not).

Re-reading the code just now I have to say, woah! There is a cataclysmic rift between law and accepted practice!

I once worked in a club where the changing room was always filthy, granted the dancers made it that way but the cleaner was meant to clean it every night and she just didn't. She would do a surface clean but if you ever walked i your bare feet they would be black in like 2 minutes. We complained about it so much that they told us they would pay a specialist cleaner to come clean it but we all had to pay an extra £1 a night. Numer one, the amount of girls working there meant that this extra £1 a night really added up, meaning that they club ere easily getting aout £300 a week in. Number 2 nospecialist cleaner was ever hired, they justmade the bar staff do it for no extra pay and the changing room was still always pretty filthy. So we still have a dirty changing room plus we're getting screwed collectively for another £300 a week.

I worked in another club that all made us wear these ugly Budwiser one piece costumes for 2 hours every Friday night. They suited about 1 or 2 girls in the whole club and were washed infrequently once I'm sure the one I was given has some sort of thrush residue in the crotch, it took me about an hour to wash it and dry it under the tiny hand dryer. Not only that but they charged us £10 to hire them eventhough it was mandatory!

Serects in London is very strict, they do a thourgh check of every girl every night. They check you nails, hair, make-up, jewllery. shoes ect. You had to have 3 pieces of jewllery, ie. bracelet, necklace, ring, you couldn't wear clear shoes, only coloured and they had to be the same colour as your outfit, one piece long dresses only before midnight, after midnight was themes so one night was mandatory lingerie. Lingerie outfit had to consist of 3 pieces ie. basque, stockings, thong, fantasy outfits had to have accessories like if you were a nurse you had to wear the nurse dree with the hat and stockings.

Also worked in another club were no bare butts were allowed so thongs had to be covered with a wrap of some sort.

At my old club:

- No going into the dressing room at all for any reason during the last hour of the shift, or you would be fined.

- $300 fine for calling off for any reason, but they would let you make it up by working an additional 2 shifts the following week. $400 fine for no call no show no makeups allowed.

- No sitting with a customer at all. The only times you were allowed to sit were in CR or DR. Also, no staying with the same customer for more than 2 songs.

- No drinking on the floor, you had to go to a special table to the side of the bar where customers were not allowed. And there was a 2 drink max. There was really no point in drinking there. You could also drink in CR, drink max still applied but was never enforced.

- Any outside beverages had to be sealed when it was brought in, and would be checked by management and they would mark with permanent marker on the bottom. This one wasn't enforced for long.

Glad I don't work there anymore!

mines not too bad must go out on floor during specials, but you dont have to sell them or even try to, dances are 20, 7 goes to the house, and depending on what time you get there they get your first 1,2,or 3 dances. but you have to tip the dj, 2-4 floorwalkers, security guy, and 1-2 door guys. you walk with about 50 percent of your money

i don't work at the club that did this....but awhile ago i did:

1. champagne room i made about $75 or $80 for half an hour and had to tip out some dude with it about 10% ....wtf...that's equivalent to 2 lapdances for half an hour

2. i wasn't allowed to keep a little purse with me while i got my tips (i'm not talking big, tacky, thing). i was told that i should leave it on stage, b/c the bouncer would look out for it and make sure nobody stole it

3. Dancers may not hold a full spread, nude move for longer than 30 seconds. (Do you know how long 30 seconds is?? That is really quite a long time to just lay there with your legs open)

Two clubs here on the Gold Coast have a 3 second rule similar to the above. It isn't just full spread nude moves.. anything where your legs are apart.. only 3 seconds.

Lol, its illegal for dancers and customers to exchange phone numbers in Queensland - not sure if it still is but when the law 1st came in I heard it was a $10,000 fine!

There was also another stupid law at one point that dancers wernt allowed to take their g-strings off on stage without covering with one hand. But the hand had to be 10cm away from your pussy otherwise it was considered masturbation. Stupid or what?!

I also hate dress codes for dancers though clubs that have uniforms are the worst!

What I bolded is enforced within two clubs at least on the Gold Coast. Plus the palm of the hand has to be facing away... and if you use clothing or anything else to cover.. same rule applies. It has to be obvious that the hand is not touching your vagina.

Also add to the above that your asshole has to be covered by you as well.

At two Gold Coast clubs (that I'm aware) you cannot miss your 15 minute stage set no matter what or else you are fined. So even if you only had 5-10 min left in a lap dance, you had to get dressed, go do the stage, and resume the lap dance after your stage set.. so the poor customer who's dance is "on pause" has to wait up to 20-30 minutes to resume the lap dance (5 minutes to get dressed and ready at the side of the stage for your stage set, 15 min stage set and another 5-10 min to fix yourself up after the stage set and/or find your customer to resume the dance).

Only one club on the Coast allows the dancers to not have to do stage if they are in a lap dance.. it is also the only club that takes a cut/percentage of each dance. Plus it really sucks when you are having an 'off' night thus are stuck doing the stage several times that night. It pays to be a popular dancer at that club.

There is another 'rule' at this before-mentioned club that really is stupid: you must sit with patrons ! Yes, even if they have JUST walked in and have not ordered a drink.. yes, even if you know they have no money and are there for the perve... so guess what a lot of the girls will do? yes.. they will sit on the seat or stand at the table even if they are not speaking with the patron.

I did get into an argument with a hostess one night at this club TRYING to explain how this doesn't work in the club's favour ultimately (as I'm (and every other dancer) giving away my (their) time for free so why should they get a dance?) yet she couldn't get it thru her head. Seriously!

Yet ultimately the numero uno idiot rule from a current X club is: not allowed to hustle for tips from the stage and you MUST (compulsory or else you are fined) get full nude with pants completely off within the last song. So yes, you had to be full nude (granted, no open leg work was allowed unless you covered) for the last 3-4 minutes of your stage set... guarantee-ing any guy could sit in the club and have a good ol' perve for the cost of entry + drinks.

....and a LOT of patrons did just that too! oh.. oops.. there were even plenty of patrons (and usually they were female!) that would sit front row or close to the stage WITHOUT drinks... the females that did this infuriated me more as all females (solo or group or part of a couple) get into the club for free ...

so please add the whole "ladies get free entry" to another club rule that i detested!

Huh? Don't your legs have to be apart to *walk*? That makes absolutely no sense. Like from another planet level of nonsense.

A lot of Portland clubs have 'nude by the last song', but they don't fine. And stage is the biggie in Portland. I have known dancers to get nude with the good stuff deftly hidden behind the pole / their arms / the clothes which they are still holding when they knew tips weren't coming. ;D Like that Austin Powers scene.

GoldCoastGirl
02-28-2008, 07:42 AM
The 3 second rule applies for dancing nude in a lap dance only.

As for being nude by the last song, I wouldn't mind so much if I was allowed to hustle for tips at one point during my 15 min stage sets. Yet you go up there, dance, get nude, leave. Hustling for tips, or hustling at all during that 15 minutes was a big no no (or so it seems now). Plus pretty much the majority of the girls when naked would gladly be naked (as such) thus allowing everyone a good perve. I found a way to dance in a manner (yes I strictly stuck to the pole) that would cover me up yet make me look good etc however it was still 'prudish' compared to most of the other girls.

thechaosfairy
02-28-2008, 08:32 AM
Oh, that makes more sense. *facepalm*

Yeah. No-hustle rules bite. Can you hustle with your eyes? Like, look a customer in the eye, sort of drift your hand over your clothing, stare at the tip rail meaningfully?

Edit: Oh, never mind, I just saw you're writing in the past tense.

Gah, tension headache, can't think straight.

At my club, we:

Wear pasties (state law)
Are not allowed to "hover" (???) or lift a foot off the ground while doing table dances
Are not allowed to use grab the backs of the chairs/couches while doing table/private dances
Can't chew gum
Are fined for being late (up to $40)
Are fined $50 for calling off, unless we have a Dr's note (This one fucking infuriates me!!!)

- having to make a schedule a full month in advance, and being fined $200 for calling out for any reason
- having to work 4pm-2am nearly no matter what. Some girls got to come in at 7pm, but nobody ever got to leave early.
- no switching shifts once you've made your schedule (a month in advance)

In one club in south Houston, if you didn't have your eyebrows manicured it was a $50 fine

You will be fined for playing with straws in your mouth and playing with customers' ties

And the club I am at now we have to work two mandatory days a week or no Fridays or $100 fine to work a Friday

my club is pretty good (my fave i've worked at) we have county laws like nipple tape, keeping one foot on the floor, etc. ... but i don't mind those.

the only "unusual" rules we have are

-no boots unless it's costume day. not even heeled boots.

-no swearing. we have an "f bomb" bank in the office. you have to pay 5 bucks for swearing. one of our bartenders was recently in the hospital and out of work for two weeks. we all agreed to give her the "f bomb bank".. it was a LOT of money. lol

-no chewing cum

-no carrying a purse of any kind on the floor

-you are not allowed to move your own drink from one place to another, even if staying with the same customer. if you and a customer move to a couch or vip, you have to ask him or a waitress to bring your drink. (this irritates the living bejesus out of me btw).

-you have to be sitting when smoking (doesn't bother me any cause i don't smoke at work). you can not stand or walk with a cig.

bringing up this old thread cuz im pissed... lol soo. the club i'm at now.. 1.after every stage set, u work the entire floor. if a girl is sitting with a custie, doesn't matter. ask him for a table dance anyhow. 2. no dresses, skirts/ booty shorts on the floor or during vips
3. if your late its a 40 dollar fine. 4. you have to work 2 days a week+ a weekend. one girl was pregnant, told the manager/dj she couldn't work for the next 7 months, and he kept fining her for missing work! now her fines are like,... $3,000.. and 5. if a guy touches u in vip, like on ur tits, ur supposed to stop him. if not, YOU get fined. 50 an hour for every hour you are late
25 $ fine if you give your house fee any later than midnight

Hey, this is like my thread! :D

- Had to work 2 weekdays to work Thu-Sat
- 7 hour shift minimum (the nail in the coffin for my time there)
- Fining girls for being too close on the floor... they were trying to drive guys to buy the VIP wristbands to go upstairs
- Rules arbitrarily decided by house moms as to what kind of fabric was acceptable for your dress... of course none of your clothes were allowed if they didn't like you

*If you are 3mins+ late for a table-you owe the girl left up on stage $50 (I understand being "fined" after 5mins, but 3 happens sometimes if you are rushing to finish a dance, the roster has been changed or you have a slow watch etc).
*$150 no show fee.
*On the weekend EVERYONE must be on stage for a song long half naked "parade", at a certain time, whether they are in a dance/getting a dance or not.
*No "lazy" stage sets!
*Gowns until midnight-then short dresses or two pieces that cover your bum.

simone87

^ what are "lazy" stage sets? i can see how managers might get annoyed by dancers circling around the pole or sitting down and ignoring customers who are tipping..but if the guys aren't tipping, i know im not going to put on a show and bust my butt..some of the guys even prefer you to just on stage and talk to them ( one girl got bitched out for that at my club, but if that's what the customer wants i don't see why that's a problem)

Keep shoes on at ALL times or risk potential fine for 'prostitution'. Really?!?!?

No smoking (we have to go outside with permission, only two girls go at time) the first or last hour of your shift. I don't know why this is.

Full nudity on stage, but can't pick money up while naked (so we get dressed on stage after our set during a "break song", then collect tips)

Wearing booty shorts. It really ruins some outfits. Plus, I don't get why they're called booty shorts. They look more like cheekies to me.
