View Full Version : how many of u have health insurance
I just tried that link to einsurance. They quoted me 399.86 a month. That would be a car payment for me. How sad is it to be a stripper and not be able to afford things. And no it's not my clubs. I'm just not willing to go to the city and pay 200 house fees plus housemom ect and hope to make some $.
I am pretty bitter about the healthcare bs in this country.

I live in a country with socialised medicine. *Basks*.
Why can't our country do this? A poor boy died in Maryland last month because he couldn't get a tooth pulled... a good friend I work with had the same problem last month, had to call 15 dentists before finding one that would even see her with no insurance... and then it cost her several hundred dollars, her whole face was swollen by this time and she could not even talk.

If you haven't purchased health insurance you should. I didn't have health insurance when I got sick & my life has been turned upside down...If not for my best friend's family rescuing me, I'd be dead in a ditch. The welfare medical system could not help me.
I just got health insurance recently through the government. When I am no longer eligible (after pregnancy), I'll be on my fiance's insurance. He gets it through work and I am able to have it too if I'm living in the same household. There is a fee but it's much cheaper than doing an independent plan for ICs.

Not everyone CAN get a policy.

I didn't have any after college (I was on my real dad's insurance until I was 21) until I started working for Blockbuster. Most of the part time jobs I've had wouldn't offer any.... I am so thankful for it now (it's one of the only good things about the *$^&*^#*&%@*&^@*@ job, heh)..... I pay about $30 every two weeks and that covers health, dental, and life insurance.

Paige, how many hours do you have to work at Blockbuster to get health insurance? I've thought about getting a part time job for insurance but I just don't know if it would be worth it.
I was turned down by three insurance companies in FL for having PCOS. I finally got a high-deductible policy with a fourth company when I just didn't tell them. Now that I'm back in Louisiana I went to transfer the policy. After four months of trying to get them to do it. I finally get the paperwork and they want $520 for ONE MONTH'S PREMIUM! Not just no but FUCKING HELL NO! I was paying $122 per month in Florida.
The healthcare system in the U.S. is sooooo fucked up beyond reason. Unless you can get on a big group plan you are royally screwed.

As long as your paycheck has enough in it per period to deduct insurance payments, you get coverage. I'm usually scheduled for 10 - 15 hours, so I'm groovy.

Check to see what is available through your state's high risk pool HI. Although in Louisiana it might not be any good at all.
Yup, healthcare is a fucking mess. At least the Democrats TRIED to do something about it in the 1990's. Not to get Poo-ish, but have you noticed how much the conservative Repubs love to brag about Hillary's failure with universal healthcare, yet have never offered a realistic alternative?

I am covered through a program the state of Tennessee has for people with mental health problems. I have tried to get coverage on my own but I got turned down flat by 8+ companies, I am too much of a risk. If I didn't have coverage in some form, I'd be homeless and roaming the streets because my medical care is about $18000-20000 a month. It sucks.

I have insurance, but that's only because I live at home and I'm a full-time student.
Me too

holy shit! I might have to work at Blockbuster. I just don't know if I could stand it. I hate customer service type jobs and I already have a job that sometimes takes a lot out of me.
I was refused by 3 ins. companies in Florida and the 4th one only insured me because I sort of omitted things from the application. Yeah, I know, bad me, whatever. fuck 'em. But now to transfer the same ins. to LA they want $520 a month for me, ONE PERSON, and I'm not doing it.
