View Full Version : It's March Madness time...(who's up for a little contest)

As a rule if I take a defensive dog, I almost always play the under. But the nature of UCLA's D ( steals and filling passing lanes) led me to believe there would be a lot of easy points off turnovers and with a chance at the 'foul in return for posession' end game pushing the score into the high 60s. Neither team handled the ball well and KU missed fairly easy baskets throughout the contest. I just didn't see them being held in the 50s.
As for Doc, I noticed the love for NU football in another thread. In fact, when you disappeared for a few days, I feared you had been outed as a husker fan in Kansas and were being held against your will. I don't mind rooting for Creighton til NU starts paying hoop players as much as the
football players.

That A&M game was quite the heartbreaker the other day. The Alamodome (and San Antonio quite frankly) was bleeding maroon on Thursday. It really was amusing how quiet the second game was (Ohio St.-Tennessee). There were plenty of empty seats on Saturday as well.
I'm going to the Memphis game this afternoon bitches! Second row. I'll be there with one guy and two other girls, a tall blonde and a young brunette with big titties.
Look out for me!!! :)
LOL! I had an aisle seat on the second row mid-court, but I was on the "short-side" (with the curtains). The primary TV camera looking down on the basketball court was behind me so there really wasn't any way for me to be seen on TV. Lots of attractive women in the crowd, though...as usual.
Next stop is Atlanta via Houston. }:D

How could KU die like that? It's like they said no mas in the locker room at halftime.
At halftime, I knew they were done. Cold shooting and they couldn't get the ball in the paint w/o someone jarring it loose.

One of two "Mylanta" games yesterday was the Rutgers-Duke women's regional semifinal. Rutgers goes ahead by 1 on a jumper with about 12 secs left. Duke comes back the other way, misses, Rutgers' player rebounds and she gets fouled with 5 seconds left.
All Rutgers has to do is inbound and the game is more or less over. They go for the home run and the ball gets stolen. Duke player drives the basket, chucks a hail mary and misses but gets fouled with 0.1 secs.
The gal, a 75% FT shooter goes to the line to shoot two, and bricks them both.
The other was the Division II championship between Barton and Winona St. Barton was down 7 with 45 seconds left, tied it with 11 seconds left. Stole the ball at midcourt and put in the winning layup at the buzzer. The player who hit the game winner scored 10 points in the last 39 seconds.
And since Sporty and DE took a little spill yesterday...

Defending champions, 57 game winning streak, Winona St seemingly in control throughout the game, 7 point lead with 45 seconds to play only to blow it. Wow!

We were on that side as well, but in the first row. I wore a blue tank top. The game was decent until Ohio St. started wiping their asses with Memphis. Overall OS is definately a stronger team from a technical perspective, but then again, I don't follow college ball........

24 seconds left in the GT-UNC game and its tied at 81. A lot riding on this considering 3 people have GT picked to win it all. Get your antacid ready.
See you in 24 seconds. :)
24 seconds later
Criminey, we have OT. Genwar is back in this thing if UNC pulls this out, esspecially if they win by 3 or more.
After OT

God, just think of how much was riding on that last UNC 3 point attempt. Had they hit it, this contest is wide open. And I'm sure those who had some actual money on the game were sweating bullets as well.
I'm still crunching numbers but it looks as though RH has soared into the lead and just past the millenium mark. I just got off a 12 hour shift at work, and need some sleepy time, so I'll put up the official scores later.

Ironically, in the office pool, I put in one entry that was just all the favorites. I decided EVERY contest, up until the final four, based on seeds (with a couple of notable exceptions like Michigan over Marquette.). And it appears that that entry may win. I don't know if that is a statement about this years tournament or the poor picks of my office mates.

RH goes an amazing 6 for 6 on bets (red text) and zooms into the lead. I don't do so bad myself (blue text) and inch ahead of GenWar for fourth.
It's still theoretically possible that anyone can win this thing (even Punk), although he's going to need some major parlay action.
Betting Lines for national semifinals:
2 Georgetown vs. 1 Ohio State - Even (129½)
1 Florida vs. 2 UCLA - 3 (130)
Semifinal betting limits: Maximum: 200 points (any increment)
Since we are at the point where someone in the lead would have a significant advantage by "covering" the person below them, if anyone wants to PM their bets to me instead of posting them on the board, go ahead. They will remain "sealed" until that round is over. As your contest director, my bets must remain public.
Okay, now I have a small favor to ask of the participants here... :-\
I am going out of town this coming weekend. I'm competing in a disc golf tournament this coming Saturday (the day of the semifinals) and will then be heading into the big city afterwards with a hopeful rendezvous with "Miss 21 Consecutive Lap Dances" (or an acceptably athletic enough substitute).
:D
Since I will be out of town and will not have access to a computer until late Sunday night, I need somebody here to get the lines for the championship game. I'll be there in time to post them (assuming Dad's five year old PC still works), but I'd like you to have the lines earlier as some of you probably will be busy with work related stuff come Monday.
So the first person who can find them, please post them. They can be found here...
http://www.vegas.com/gaming/index.html
...or here, where the above site gets them from.
http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-basketball/odds/las-vegas/
If you see a disparity in numbers (and you most always will), use the number that appears most often, or an average to the nearest half-point.
Once somebody does that, a second person needs to check the numbers to confirm they are legit. If they've moved a little bit, no biggie. If they're off 10+ points, then something is a matter.
If they are legit, simply quote the person who posted the lines and say "confirmed", or use the thumbs up smiley. At that point, the lines will be official.
Sorry about the inconvenience, but this was all planned before I thought of the contest.

3-Richard_Head (805), ouch!
4-GenWar (680), bet the house GW!

6-Punk (0), yes 0 as in zero

Hey guys, thanks for posting the spread. The official standings are on a spreadsheet on my home computer, and I'm not going to see that again until Friday, but if you're not sure of your total, you can either percentage your points as long as its under the 500 max bet, so you can bet like this:
Florida (500)
Florida (500 or 50% of points, whichever is less)
OSU (500 or All-in, whichever is less)
Florida (half my points up to 500)
Fla vs. OSU - OVER (half my points up to 500)
OSU (500)
Fla vs. OSU - UNDER (remaining point balance up to 500)
I hardly had time to watch either of the games. Caught a little Sportscenter action at about 3 AM this morning but between the frisbee chucking and the lap dancing I was too damned tired.
:faint:
Well, if I'm gonna win this, I gotta bet the farm, (or as much of it as I can bet), and I think that I'm gonna have to go opposite DE to do it.
My bet:
Two Parlay (500)
1. Ohio State
2. Florida vs. OSU - UNDER
And if only I could make a bet with weather channel babe Stephanie Abrams (http://www.palmbeachpost.com/storm/content/accent/epaper/2006/09/02/a1d_stephanie_abrams_0902_nn.html), a UF alumnus to do a forecast in a bikini should OSU wins.

Of course, none of them has anything on the uber Weather Channel Hottie Nicole Mitchell (http://www.weather.com/aboutus/television/ocms/mitchell.html). *swoon* (http://www.cameroncole.com/cgi-bin/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=News_Babes/Weather_Channel/Nicole_Mitchell&image=200609030021.jpg&img=&tt=) *drool* (http://www.cameroncole.com/cgi-bin/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=News_Babes/Weather_Channel/Nicole_Mitchell&image=200609030023.jpg&img=&tt=) *sigh* (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/bloodylamer/bastardly-photos/0505/2005-image-uploads/nicolemitchell.jpg)

Hey Gen, have you made it out to PacBell/SBC/ATT/ the phone booth, yet? OT, I know, but I think I am the champion of this thread, so y'all will just have to tolerate it.
Funny thing is I needed UCLA to beat FLA to win $300 in a tourney draft thing I do every year. But I was rooting for FLA cuz I see those guys once a year and I was posting here more often so this is the one that meant more to me. What a f*in idiot. As a side note, the host of our draftin '06 brought out a photo album of pics of a stripper he met in Vancouver, BC (we live in No. Cal). "Eh" I said, "everyone's got a stripper somewhere."
When I started thumbin through the pics he tells me she's Ukranian and her father is in the russian Mob. There are pics from a vacation in Mexico and even pics from Kiev when he went to meet her parents. ???
This was getting serious. Last page; a pic of her left hand with a good sized rock adorning the appropiate finger. I told him good luck with all that and that he'd likely end up dead. Fast forward 1 year. His house is for sale, he married her in June and she's already back in Canada. HAHA Who didn't know that. I need to run him down before he moves cuz I know there's some good shit to be shared.
