I'll come right out and tell you that you are making yourself out to look like a vendictive British snot who can't handle competition. That's probably why you stopped dancing...too competitive for you. Face it...you suck. Deal with it.

 I bet you had many $50 nights because you couldn't be personable or sexy in dancing. That's why you hate us.

Did you not change my signature under my profile on your forum to state "British Gals Cant Pole Dance"? Nice way to have my current students and future ones think of me. See....

PWNED.

KT, you've just made yourself look really bad. But I'm sure it wasn't all that difficult to do so.

i rest my case!

nasty that all you people know how to be.

You people?! What the FUCK is that supposed to mean?!>:(

I find it really funny that you didn't respond to Alena or anything, yet you're calling 'us people' nasty? Where did anyone write anything nasty?

That's funny that someone would look down upon strippers in a pole dacning class. I mean, where do women get the idea to pole dance? What makes it intriguing? They look at some fit, tight and toned woman on a pole and think "I want to do that!"

Plus, I have a general dislike for anyone who thinks they are are better than another person. I don't know the whole story here, but I do know from any and every post that I have ever read by Alena that she is a professional, smart and sincere woman. Who rarely (if ever) types what she doesn't mean.

This message was addressed to Alena Downs and "you people". ;D

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but how is Aradia at all For Fitness? I mean, let's take a look, for a moment, at their main page's blurb...

"Aradia Fitness is a women's fitness studio offering pole dance, lap dance, sexy exercise and striptease classes. We specialize in bachelorette / stagette parties and ladies night out parties based on sensual movement and erotic dance. "

Ok am I the only one who sees this as "learn to be a stripper!" and not so much "get fit!"?

So... what? Learn to be Our Kind without ever having to become Our Kind?

Nice...

Nice...

Exactly what i was thinking....yea there can be fitness benefits from what this studio offers.....but they are the most important aspects of stripper subculture..not ways to get in tip top shape....so to ban strippers from the studio, if thats what they do, pisses me off tremendously. Give credit to where it is due....

If pole dance isn't sexy, then what is it? Even Cirque du Soleil incorporates sexy moves into their aerial acrobatics?

Why are you afraid of sexuality? Isn't the purpose of "housewife" poledance to help these women tap into their sexiness?

Now, as a pro-bellydancer of many years, I do understand the purpose of wanting to keep the majority from creating stereotypes of your art. However, I don't see where poledance was EVER anything but a dance of titillation?

Did the ancient egyptian women poledance for one another as a fertility ritual? NO! Its a dance form that has stemmed from many sources, and shunning sexuality from it is downright stupid. Hell, even as a middle eastern dancer, I was so frustrated by the "earth goddess" bellydancer who would attack at any mention of my art form as having a sexual, or sensual component.

AlenaDowns: on this site, professional, informative, witty, articulate. There is no argument as to what happened. Sorry about this drama, I've seen it go down in the bellydance community many times. :(

Katrine, I think it may be a British trend at the moment. Most have that stuff upper lip over here, and shy away from glamour and sexiness. Fine in some things, but to turn Pole Dancing into a strictly fitness form, where trainers and boxer boots are used, and high heels discouraged I think is awful. Its strips it of femininity.
The is one of the things that women can show off awesome body strength and STILL be feminine. We can even revel in it and still be strong!
This should be celebrated and encouraged, not sterilized out of Pole Dancing.

What I did was take what I was good at an put it into fitness terms and design a program for the everyday person, male, female, transgender, drag, stripper or non stripper , people come to my classes to learn to dance, get fit and have fun, its not sexy because I am not sexy, if they want sexy I recommend they go to another school, but people take one look at my site and see what they will get, so that doesn’t happen often.

I believe Cally and others are upset that you may have discriminated against them for being strippers. Pole dancing was born through stripping, and it seems as if you are denying strippers the benefit of your experience and training. It's not like we wear t-shirts that say "BIG NASTY HO". Outside of work, many of us are just like everyday women who want to learn the art of pole dancing.

Sadly, a lot of these pole dance studios are very anti-stripper. I don't get it :-\

^^No definitely not you! I wish the others would take cues from you. Flirty Girl Fitness in Toronto is NOT stripper friendly.

I agree! Flirty Girl is very anti-stripper. They actually had an instructor who used to be a dancer and I think they fired her. Now they're screwed. They refuse to hire any dancers to teach and they only have a couple girls, only one of whom is any good. They don't want to upset all the suburban "daddy's girls". It sucks because they have a really cool studio. I just wish they'd re-coat their poles . . .

You people?!

What the fuck does that mean?

I was impressed by you the 1st time I watched your video, but now, I see you are just another bitter jaded cunt that can't hack it in the Adult World.

Go back to your sterile non sexual pole dancing kiddo, leave the real work to us women.
