Ok-just got more info. I called the club and talked to one of the doorgirls. She told me that everything was okay, and the news blew it way out of proportion. Only five people were arrested, and they have a list of the ones with warrants (which I'm not on, whew!) so I'm guessing they can't come back. She told me they even arrested people with traffic warrants! Geez, what a fiasco. She also said only 25 girls showed up tonight when there's normally 100 and over 200 guys came in. I coulda banked! But hell, it's better to be safe than sorry! I'm still gonna try out the Mansion tomorrow cause even though I feel better about the whole sitation, I don't feel good enough to go back right away.

Virgo,
I think I'm going to take a chance at going to work tonight. I'll check in with you and Paige via text to let you know I'm alive, if I do end up going.

What did the girls at the Mansion look like? Do you think I'd get hired there?

It is a nice building, secluded but hard to get to and reallly hard to leave, if you want to go south.

How can i find out which clubs will and if/when this will happen?

Honestly, I would say it's virtually impossible unless you either have inside connections with local LE or are in good with the management at your club. But even then (being in w/managment) doesn't guarantee that you can avoid it completely.

At SJ, this raid was the result of a 3-6 month vice investigation, so mgmt. knew what was up-but out of the blue raids? Impossible to know.

How would they be on a warrant list? If they danced for undercovers? This may all be possible, I'm not agreeing or disagreeing.

Yes, exactly. Like virgo said, this raid was the result of a long-term undercover investigation. It sounds very similar to what happened when my old club got raided. (I was there that night, but I wasn't arrested.) They had everyone in the dressing room, searched all our bags for drugs, etc. Also checked our ID's and had us say our names on video. And yes, the owners knew that it was going to go down, though I'm not sure how much advance notice they got about the actual raid...

FTR, I don't believe that all the girls who were on the warrant list were actually doing anything wrong. In fact, I think the undercovers targeted the Latina girls in particular. And I think they straight-up lied about who did what.

But I'm glad virgo and Pooka are safe & sound! Have you both found new places to work?

I'm still workin at St.James but I'm looking into that DB Coopers place, too. So far things seem okay at St.James...hopefully they stay that way. *cringe*

Yeah, they just aren't letting the girls that were on the warrant list work anymore.

I worked at St. James for about a year several years ago and random raids are common. You've got to remember that Texas is a good ole' boys red state, and the law enforcement there is just as corrupt as the Bush Administration. It is very unlike most states you will ever work in. Austin is a "little" better as it is a liberal city.

Bribes are common between the sheriff's dept and the club owners, and I have heard the constables tell the managers that they have to make some random raids and have to take some girls to jail to cover their asses.

Cops in Houston regularly for some strange reason cruise strip club parking lots checking car tags for warrants, and periodically approach the managers looking for girls who own the cars for warrants unrelated to stripping.

If you're not working on a day the vice comes in, you are not going to be cited. If vice sets up or observes girls violating the rules, they will leave and come back within the hour to make a bust.

Being in good with mgmt is very helpful as many times they are aware of pending raids.

I always wondered if they had any say in who ended up on the warrant list. What do you think, Tina? Can they keep "favorites" off the list?

They can't really keep you off the list, as the list is based on what vice sees. But they can forewarn you that vice will be coming in within a few days, and to be careful, or work at your own risk.

Just a little better? I disagree. Austin clubs don't get raided (knock on wood).

I've heard of girls getting ticketed, but the cops here are not after the clubs, they have more important things to do, like save our salamanders.:P I've never been concerned about getting arrested here, and extras aren't that prevalant.

No way, they don't shut the clubs down after raids. They just get their publicity, and back to business as usual. Meanwhile, sucky-sucky resumes.::)
