Darcy, sometimes it take a while to find good help. Have you looked at any woman's support groups in your area? Also, I would recommend speaking to a female therapist, she doesn't have to be a prescribing psychiatrist, just someone to talk to that will give you honest feedback.....
I swear, except for my dentist, I refuse to go to male doctors anymore, no matter what area. They just can't seem to empathize. Good luck!

Hey Darcy....
Your Dr. is retarded. My primary physician insisted that an Eating Disorder that I was eventually hospitalized 6 times for was "just a phase". You sound like you've got some hefty BDD and probably qualify as EDNOS. I urge you to get some sort of help, sometimes support groups are your best bet....it worked better than all of the treatment from supposed experts worked for me. Just being able to talk to people that know what it's like for you can be helpful. You come here asking for advice; and you're not stupid, I'm sure you knew you'd be crucified for doing something that you know is inherently dangerous. So you're reaching out, which is wonderful. But I understand that you're not looking for people to tell you what you already know either. I would suggest talking to people on the "something fishy website on eating disorders" they've got chat rooms that can be tremendously helpful. They won't chide you, they'll just talk.
If you ever need someone to chat with, feel free to PM me as well. I'm not encouraging what you're doing, but I can't judge it either. I think that I do know how you feel though. I hope you're doing well.

I agree..your Dr is a moron. I've had drs tell me(in high school when I was rotating starving myself and purging) that since i wasnt ematiated I "obviously" didnt have an ED. I dont think many dr's know what body dysmorphic disorder even IS.

...and for the record, the Sibutramine I bought online doesn't really help anyway. And it IS an amphetamine. Although it didn't kill my appetite nearly as much as dexedrine did, it didn't keep me up at night/ make me feel jacked either. So for me, I think the effects were mostly neutral. When I do overeat I do it out of something psychological that is not real hunger/ appetite anyway.
But maybe all the doctors are right, and this stuff doesn't work so hot on someone who is not morbidly obese (and who's body perhaps, just maybe, was not destined to be a size two no matter what).
But honestly, it's a waste of money...Diet and excercise, diet and excercise, ad infinitum.
