Britt...i just wanted to thank you for your interest in autism. And for helping out with fundraisers, that really shows how caring you are. My 2 brothers are both autistic(they have Asperger's Syndrome). And until recently it was so hard for other people to understand what it is. In recent years though, public knowledge has grown so much.
k...back to recovery mode. gonna go watch tv for a bit and try to not whine about my head and tummy. Seriously...it's almost 8pm. how can i STILL be hungover???? Eff you wine.>:(

eeee, really? ok this sounds funny, but i LOVE autistic people. is it strange that i think it's a blessing, in a way, to the families who have autistic (or other disabled) people in them? i think it makes you such a compassionate person, and while i wouldnt wish it on anyone, its a blessing in disguise, imo. my mom's best friend's son is hands down my favorite person on the planet. i LOVE spending time with him. i wrote about him for my college admissions essays.
oh man. :( i just had such a sad thought. that makes it even worse about your mom... times a million.
and hey, in case i never offered before.. any time you need to talk, pm me. i might talk a lot but im a good listener too!

Boy's little cousin is autistic, and the sweetest little boy EVAR. When I first met him 5 years ago, he couldn't really speak "real" words and couldn't for a long time. In the last two years, he has totally blossomed! He communicates well even compared to other 7 year olds, he is an amazing sports analyst and statistician, and he has so much love for everyone around him. Every year, we participate in a charity walk through Autism Speaks (http://www.autismspeaks.org/). The first year we did it, there were a couple hundred people. This year, there were THOUSANDS. So many that even on a huge boardwalk on the Jersey Shore, all you could do was shuffle your feet forward to move ahead.

its amazing the changes that can come with the right type of therapy or school or whatever the change may be.

Absolutely! He was diagnosed very early so they were able to do a comprehensive intervention at a school especially for autistic children. He's progressed so well that they actual put him into a regular mainstream public school this year. He's thriving! He's got great friends and is just learning sooooo much. It really makes me thankful that there is so much support for autism because he just wouldn't be able to thrive like he has without it.

^ it's so important for an early diagnosis. so many parents are in denial. the earlier, the better. im glad he has friends. that sounds silly, maybe, but its hard for autistic kids to have friends depending on how they are with social interaction. its so sad. :(

I know! We were worried because he's an only child and there were no other kids near his age in the family (boy's sister is the closest and she's like 15 years older!). Since his diagnosis he has two younger cousins and he's about to be a big brother. We were all worried at first about how he'd react to the babies, but he is so awesome and nurturing. I'm constantly in amazement of what this little boy is capable of. We were sitting on the couch listening to my iPod last night and he just snuggled up against me and told me he loved me. I never would have even imagined this would happen when I met him.

He used to be the same way, but ever since the next little cousin was born, he's been totally affectionate! He lets her rough-house on him a bit (she's only 4) and any time she cries, he's the first one there to ask her what's wrong and how he can make it better.
The entire family has made an effort to treat him like any other child his age, and I think that does help. No one belittles him or puts him down when he can't do or doesn't know something, so he's learned that from all of us.

its so lucky when they're born into families that do everything for them. i know my mom's best friend would do ANYTHING for her son, and my family would too. i dont like thinking about what happens when the parents arent like that...

Hey Hannah, what are your brothers like? I've sometimes suspected my father of having Asperger's, but he was never diagnosed with it. Maybe he's just weird but the little I know of Asperger's sounds a lot like him.

My fucking rash is spreading. It's all over the lower half of my face and now it's on my arms, and my butt is starting to itch. It's not contagious, it's just a stress reaction, but I REALLY don't want to go to work with this! I have to though. Argh.

Too goof yto decribe a flat tire!
K, Mental note....when I drink I think I can type all fast and stuff, and I can't really. so I have to remind myself to type slowerr. But reminding your self of anything while drinking is a very hard thing to do. So. I'm sorry., I didn't remind myself.
Flat tire. Look at all of your other tires, if it looks different it might be fat. flat!

Buy a tire gauge. They are like, $1.50.
Read you car manual for the suggested pressure, but msot cars are supposed to be at 35.
All you do is stick the gauge thingy in the tire air hole and the stick pops out and you look at the number. If it's under 35, go put air in it and check the gauge again to see if it's at 35.

I met a guy at work yesterday who created an engine that makes cars run on water.
Saturday was great and made up for suck-ass Friday.
I ate too much.
I made my bed this morning.
I need a sexy tiger outfit.

Bad yoga class this afternoon. My attention kept drifting--was either fretting about work or thinking about someone I haven't seen in a year. The first distraction I can deal with, the second is beyond annoying.

^I agree. Best of luck, sweets.
I hate it when I have to pee really bad but I continue to post away on SW. Go figure.
My treat to myself if I do really, really good this week at work is a new dress and possibly a new pair of shoes for my next shoot. Also, I want to buy a couple of Bollywood films. I haven't bought any in such a long time. :( Off to bed I go...

so.. some classes have been cancelled, ive talked to 4 of my friends this morning and only 1 of them is going to school.. i have to go because i need to turn in my paper in my 2nd class. i emailed my teacher and told her that i'm assuming missing class today would be an excused absence, as safety should always be the number 1 concern. this is more than a little ridiculous.

I so need to catch up on SW but i just don't have the time right now. gotta go call my dad and see how my mom is doing today and then get ready for work. boo. :(

This sucks.
Most of the girls I want (in a real relationship) want some guy AT LEAST twice as old as them. It's like having a house and trying to make ends meet is not their idea of a financially stable man. Apparently, he has to have his house paid off, been married and divorced, and just wants to fuck.
Anyway, it's been my luck with several women recently. I just hope it changes. Thank you for letting me vent. I considered going to a club to vent about this, but, I don't have any money, so, this is the second best thing... :-\

Hurray Rose!
OK so I am putting off....
1 - packing for our trip to St Louis
2 - calling and trying to get Jake in for his vet checkup today or tomorrow
3 - working out
4 - writing on my Nano (but on the plus, I'm at 30k! That's amazing for me! I'm 60% done with my first novel!)
Damn you SW and damn my lack of energy! I'd have posted this in the "To do Today" thread but that means I'd be conceding that I'm actually going to accomplish all those things. LOL.
