I've picked my degree 100% now! Bachelors in Business and Finance! Wooooo. :D

I'm going to work my way up that damn corporate ladder until I'm the phucking CEO and have millions by the time I'm 30.

Yup.

My only goal in life is now just to make money. Legally, of course. ;)

I'm awake because we have a plumber coming. Also, the vile sickness everyone else has seems to have finally caught up with me. My snot is a lovely lemon-lime Gatorade color and I generally feel like ass. My throat hurts and my voice is pretty shot, too. I'm supposed to do the new radio ads for the club at WYSP on Wednesday afternoon before work. I hope I have a voice by then. Urgh I need to go back to bed.

Speaking of baked goods... I spent all day making (frozen pre-packaged BLECH) Oatmeal cookies and (homemade, love-filled) chocolate chip cookies.

For the record they were awesome. You and LJ totally need to hang out!

I stayed at my sister's place in LA this weekend and my little nephew came down with pink eye. I slept in his bed one night (no, sickos, he wasn't there with me), and now I'm waiting nervously for my eyes to start itching and getting gunky.

Last night we lit some candles, stretched out on the bed, and K gave me a full-body deep tissue massage with the Therapy massage bar from Lush. Afterward I massaged his back with it (he didn't want the rest of his body done). It was glorious and now my skin feels all buttery-soft. Lush is the greatest thing in the world for silky skin!

Oh yeah, and how awesome is this? When I went home for my grandmother's funeral last month, I took one of her hummingbird feeders. She was obsessed with hummingbirds and had several dozen feeders, all in the garage because it was winter. This past week, I put a little sugar water in it and hung it up off our balcony even though it's early January and there's no way any hummingbirds are out... I just wanted it there because I didn't know exactly when they come back in Oregon.

Well, every day since I hung it up, I've gotten multiple visits from the prettiest little hummingbird. What s/he is doing in Portland in January, I'm sure I don't know. But it makes me so damn happy to see the feeder in use. I must remember to keep the nectar fresh and replenished twice a week!

Awww I love hummingbirds! They always make me feel so happy and innocent.

And good luck to all you returning students! Kick ass and take notes---I mean, names! Well, probably notes too.

I know! I'm sitting by the window right now and that hummingbird has spent the whole morning at the feeder. It comes up, eats, disappears, then comes back a few minutes later, etc. I guess it hasn't got anything else to eat; there's no flowers and I doubt there are many other hummingbird feeders up. What a lucky little bird that I jumped the gun.

I know it's weird but it's sort of like a hug from my grandmother every time that hummingbird comes back. Her whole house was decorated with hummingbird stuff and I talked my grandfather into putting a hummingbird feeder up over her grave. She really loved them, so seeing this one drinking from her hummingbird feeder makes me feel really happy.

I just googled 'Oregon Hummingbird January' and apprently there's only one type of hummingbird that stays around that time of year and it's still pretty rare to see one. They're non-migratory unlike most hummingbirds and are called Anna's Hummingbirds. Even then, they hardly appear ever in January, prefering to come out more February-April. It's really good you put that feeder out! Otherwise there wouldn't be hummingbirds at all!

Why do I keep seeing cute children everywhere? For some reason, I'm not dealing with it as well as I usually do--I feel like the universe is taunting me. "You can't procreate-nyah nyah nyah..."

Now imagine the universe doing a little dance.

On the more positive side of things, I'm about to head out to my Peace Studies class, which I am very much looking forward to.

Ahhhhhh I've had the sniffles for two days. It's the most pathetic type of sick. I don't hurt anywhere, I'm still obligated to be a productive member of society--but every couple of seconds it's SNIFF. SNIFF. Pathetic.

First class = Success. Although I will admit, when I walked in and picked up the 42 page syllabus, I thought, "FUCK." Looks like it'll be fascinating though. And knowing others in the class is always a plus.

Next up: The gypsy class. Here's to hoping IT doesn't have 42 page syllabus as well.

OK, I'll admit to watching the Tyra Banks show for this. She had a Doctor on from Celebrity Fit Club and they determined it is only bad to eat food and then go directly to sleep because it doesn't give your body time to digest food and if your body tries to digest food while you're lying down it causes problems. If you eat food an hour and a half before bed or longer, you're good.

Personal note, I deserve to feel as icky as I do today. I had tons to drink and danced around my friend's party in my underwear on Saturday even though I had a call and didn't go to work on Friday. Now I'm getting geared up to go in tonight, even though I doubt I'll even make 40 bucks. New club rules = you work two icky days a month and you can work whatever weekend days you want. It's a fair trade - if the weekend money is good. I haven't been on a weekend yet.

Yay for stolen DayQuil! Now I'm going to steal kitten cuddles before I leave for work in an hour! :)

How do I have so much homework??? It's 1 freaking week into class, and I am already feeling overwhelmed. Usually it takes til at least the middle of the semester for me to feel overwhelmed....ARRRGGGGHHHH

And on top of that, I'm on call for jury duty. Sure, missing a bunch of class to sit in a courtroom for hours on end is going to REALLY help my grades and stress! :banghead:

Have you ever been exempt? You're allowed to postpone Jury Duty once if you're a full time college student. I did it last year, but then I got called again during the summer. They ended up not needing me though.

Stupid Giants. Grrr.

Yeah, while I was sick the guys in the office did up an NFL playoffs pool...I ended up with the Cowboys, but someone wanted to trade and give me the Giants (this was before the playoffs started). I declined. Shows what I know. :O

Today was my first day back at work, and it ended up only being a half-day because my car wouldn't start >:( Flat battery, cuz I'd only driven it once in the past two weeks. Had to wait til almost 11am for the BMW service guy to show up to jump start it. Then had to run an emergency errand to get a payment to one of our vendors out for delivery tomorrow.

I'm really hoping I can get back in rhythm...between my vacation, and being out sick, I basically haven't worked for a month.

the later you eat, the less time your body has to burn those calories. if you eat a big breakfast, and then are walking around campus (if youre in school), go to the gym, do WHATEVER, you're burning that off. if you eat a big meal late at night, and then arent doing anything but maybe showering, watching tv, going to bed, you arent burning those calories.

I tried, they refused my request. Apparently Utah doesn't allow you to postpone? I personally think that failing class is an undue 'hardship', but they apparently don't. I hope I don't have to go in, I hope they just don't need me.

No, I'm not in Honolulu. I'm in Texas. *grumble* I left about 3 years ago and miss Hawaii terribly, though. Trying to get the HELL outta here, but I'm sick all the time, and I can't work as much as I would like to. I'm starting to get used to the climate here, though... and I'm learning how to take better care of myself. The allergies probably won't go away until I leave, though. :(
