No, I'm not in Honolulu. I'm in Texas. *grumble* I left about 3 years ago and miss Hawaii terribly, though. Trying to get the HELL outta here, but I'm sick all the time, and I can't work as much as I would like to. I'm starting to get used to the climate here, though... and I'm learning how to take better care of myself. The allergies probably won't go away until I leave, though. :(
When my mom moved to St. Louis, she got terrible allergies! I really think the tradewinds keep a lot of that stuff away. Hang in there.

im very upset right now. i didnt need a stupid new mattress. especially not a $2500 one. what if i dont like it? i always want things and then i get them and i dont want them anymore. i wanted my stupid car for so long and then i got it and i wish i had my jetta back. what if my bed is the same? theres a 90 day guarantee, but then i wont have a mattress to sleep on if i send it back. they take your old one for you, and i have nowhere to store it so i cant keep it. i seriously think im going to cry over it. my mattress is only 2 1/2 years old. what did i want a dumb old tempurpedic one for?

So I felt uninspired and just threw some boneless chicken thighs in a pan, seasoned with herb de Provence, tossed in some portobellies (heehee) and poured in some chicken stock. Put it in the oven at 350. Online recipes for roasting chicken say to cook it for like an hour and a half--I have NEVER roasted chicken parts that long. Does this sound like a recipe....for disaster? (Couldn't resist being cheesy, sorry!)

I got my nails done today and am very dissappinted. I go to this place because they do a good job and the lady did them and they're thick and weirdly shaped. I am very picky about the shape...I like them to look....kinda like nails...not like straight lumpishy acrylic boards on my hand. Is that so much to ask?

i just cried because i didnt have any clean forks and i wanted a waffle. talk about misplaced emotion.. i'm fighting with my ex (again.) and for some reason i'm feeling super guilty about my dad buying me my new mattress. so instead of focusing one what's really upsetting me, i cried over a fork.

Woo hoooooo Stella!
I'm watching Waitress. It is seriously one of my favorite movies. That's one part Nathan Fillion (ohhhhhhhh) and one part "every bit of cooking shows genuine love." It's what inspired my 2nd-most-recent life passion, which was opening a combination cafe/bookstore where I could make and serve quiche and muffins and other nummy treats.

We FINALLY have phone and internet at our house! Woohoo!
We have cable TV too. I'm not sure how to feel about that. I've lived television-free for the past three and a half years and dunno that I want to rejoin the TV-watching world. I do think it's hilarious that we have the full package for a few hours, so we could be watching HBO or something, and instead I'm online and K is reading. I suppose there is hope for us.
Might just go do my nails and see what's on Animal Planet nowadays... *sigh*

I take the test in May to go back to school! I'm all signed up to take the test! I'm gonna go back to school next year! Gonna go back to SCHOOL! I've finally fully decided on Business Management and Finance. I love Australia. My WHOLE Bachelors is going to cost me 8 grand - AFTER I get a job! They take your university payments after you get a job from your paycheques from going to school!! And only if you make over a certain amount so you can still live. OMG OMGOMGOMGOMG... going to SCHOOL! Such a cheap degree. It'll make me so rich. BWAHAHAHAHA!

Oh I'm not complaining... I'm berating myself for being so incompetant this week for forgetting to put my roster in and now I have to pay for it. LOL.
I'm also hoping there will be room to work friday this week as I totally forgot about the Big Day Out! I'm not going, yet I distinctly remember it being good money in the club the Friday night (the night before) this music event.
The night of it (Saturday 20th Jan) and the night after.. no good. I remember working the night of it one year at Hollywood.. huge mistake! HUGE!
So yeah. Off I go now. Time to eat, then get more much needed sleep so I can perform my best tonight.
Instead of being exhausted like I was last week.

The hummingbird has been by so often this week (and especially today) that we have declared him a semi-pet and named him Apu. We figure what the hell, everything else in Portland shares a name with a Simpsons character, and there was that episode that Apu had too much coffee and thought he was a hummingbird... so our hummingbird is Apu.
I finally got a good look at him in the light this afternoon and he is definitely a male. He's beautiful, looks grey in some light but in the right light at the right angle he's brilliant green with a scarlet head. I love our pretty Apu!

Dinner was a total success! I don't know how long the chicken was in, probably 45 minutes or so, but it was tender and juicy, the portobellies were a great complement, and the stock soothed my sniffles. The Hubby proclaimed it "possibly the best chicken [I've] made." Hear ye, hear ye--throw shit together and it's good.
OH but lunch today: I took a half of a leftover steak, chopped it up, and made a quick quesadilla on the stove with swiss cheese and some of the Yumm sauce. It tasted like a reuben, I shit you not. That combination of sour/tangy/sweet. Best damn non-conventional quesadilla ever.

 Thank you, now I just have to stop referring to my grandmother's hummingbird feeder as the Qwik-E-Mart. After all, it's where Apu spends most of his time, and it's full of sugar water...
And your university should offer mental health services through the clinic, most do. I had an excellent therapist when I was an undergrad and she was free. I saw her every week for a year and learned to manage panic disorder reasonably well without drugs.
