Oh, but see, in South America, they DO eat guinea pigs. Peru in particular, if I recall correctly. I've sen an entire book devoted to the nutritional and even medicinal properties of "cuys", as they're called down there. I kid you not.
Lemme find a link for you & Lunar Obverse . . .
They don't use "cuys" to make "pisco" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pisco), do they? Me loves a pisco sour.

Guinea pig: It's what's for dinner in Peru - and the US (http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/1101/p04s01-woam.html) "The flavor, indeed, is something like chicken."
From the Wikipedia entry. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea_pig#As_food) "Peruvians consume an estimated 65 million guinea pigs each year, and the animal is so entrenched in the culture that one famous painting of the Last Supper in the main cathedral in Cusco shows Christ and the twelve disciples dining on guinea pig." (I need to see that painting.)
And it just wouldn't be me if I didn't post a recipe (http://www.shelfordfeast.co.uk/guineapig.html). WARNING: Explicit photo of fried piggie.
P.S. Just in case you think I'm a sick and callous person for posting such things, I had literally dozens of guinea pigs wen I was growing up, and hope my little babe eventually gets some too! Loved them.

I'll bet that's an excellent pairing! Perhaps Peruvian sommeliers suggest it with a delicately braised guinea chop.

I'm such a bad student. I desperately need to start paying attention in my classes.
There's a Maymester study abroad program on European Legal Systems that I'm simply dying to go on...I just can't bear to take out any more student loans--and it'll run me about $5000 for the 4 week trip. I dunno...maybe I'll go to the informational meeting anyway. A girl can dream, right?

I'm planning to dye my hair red today. I love my shade of blonde, but I'm bored and I want to try life as a redhead. I wish I could afford to let a professional do it, but I'm going to go pick up a box of something. I've been reading online reviews of different drugstore hair dye brands all morning and now I'm freaked out, because this could either be awesome or a catastrophe and I have no way of knowing. I'm terrified! I'm really terrified! Maybe I shouldn't do this. *sigh*

^^Mmmkay, sweetie, let me share my experiences with you. Red often turns out beautifully if you choose the right shade...The problem is, it'll fade like crazy...And then you'll be left with grayish-pink ends. There is good shampoo you can get to counteract this, but it's honestly best to let a professional do it. However, if you really want to do it yourself and are okay with dying your hair a more auburn color or a chocolate brown after you've let it fade out, you might be okay.
However, getting it back to blonde after this will be a BITCH.
If you decide to do it...post pics please!
ETA: That was directed towards Yek. Obviously.

DOOOOO IT! :drum: Do it! Do it! Do it!
You'll look so hot with red hair. Spicy hot, I daresay!
Edit: I'm with Stella on the auburn, actually. I think the contrast to your skin would be gorgeous.

Auburn is what I want to do. I definitely don't want to go brown, ever - I am so extremely not a brunette - so yeah, I have to either stay blonde or stick with red for a very long time.
This is just so damn much commitment!
But I had it auburn for a brief spell when I was 14 and loved it. I'm just so scared I'm going to fuck it up. I used a Clairol Nice & Easy shade of auburn back then... maybe I should try it again... I just get so obsessive about my hair. "It's just hair" isn't in my vocabulary.

^^And it DOES still have the spicy red effect. I've had the most luck with switching my hair over to auburn from blonde myself.
You should be okay...How long is your hair? If it's more than shoulder length, you'll probably want to buy two boxes to make sure you saturate your hair evenly and thoroughly.

It's fairly long (not nearly long enough), hits my bra strap in the back. I'll get two boxes. K's going to help me to make sure I get all the roots in the back, LOL! I'm terrified but this might be fun if it all works out. I'm so nervous.

Awww I wanted to smooch little seal nose and give it a hug!
Yek - yes, auburn, lovely! Good luck!
Okay so a little bit more squeeeing about last night. I didn't know why so few girls showed up, even after the game was over. Silly me also didn't know that while the game was on, they would not be playing any music or having any stage dances. So there was good, bad, hawt, and funny.
The good: I went in hoping to make around $300. I left with $750, an all time best for me! I only did dances for three people (well four but two of those were a couple so they kind of counted as one person) and I got a guy to pay me for time which is NOT common in my club at all. He was perfectly willing and such a wonderful gentleman. I sold 45 minutes of dances to one guy when there wasn't even any music going! (Damn Superbowl.) And my reg totally splurged on me. And I got rained on during one of my stage sets by this group of like 15 thuggish Mexicans. It was so shocking and unexpected. I loved it.
The bad: I'm up with the "pay for time"er, who was like I said a very wonderful guy. Absolutely sincere and great conversation, and very much a gentleman. But we're on the couches and when I started dancing for him, I was straddling him. There really isn't any room for air dances and it's very awkward to maneuver. He was touching my back and sides only. I was doing the GFE stuff, hands on shoulders, in hair. Nothing obscene or off-limits. But the manager (not one of the ones I've ever worked with before) pulls me out and chews me out, says I could get arrested for what I'm doing. I was polite, said I appreciated him letting me know and it wouldn't happen again, and it didn't. Just felt so embarrassed, like a chided child. As long as it doesn't come back to bite me. But I confirmed with the house mom that I really was not breaking any rules so I don't know what his deal was. Le sigh, I am now Extras Dancer.
The hawt: My reg has a new girlfriend and he brought her in. She immediately fell in infatuation with me and wants the four of us to get together and have fun (girls only, guys watching optional) times. She's pretty adorable and I think they could actually become good friends with us--just hope it doesn't affect the money dynamic! But they were spurring each other on to pay me more. She wanted to watch me dance for him, he wanted to watch me dance for her, and they were both in a frenzy by the end of the night.
The funny: First guy of the night was 45 minutes of no-music, just dancing to whatever guy. At one point I coyly said that he was making me work up a sweat and could he blow on my back? That fucker did not stop blowing for the rest of the time I was dancing for him! I am amazed he didn't pass out. I tried dropping subtle hints but subtle was apparently not his primary language.
Anyway, sorry for the lengthy post but it was my best night ever and good GRIEF was it fun! So glad I went in.

my hairdresser told me nice and easy is the WORST to get out, if you want to go back to blond someday. Very expensive and costly, b/c it's a metalic dye.
try natural instincts, b/c on light to dark- you'll get results very close to permanant anyways.

I love flash mobs! ;D
Frozen in Grand Central (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMj3PJDxuo), brought to you by Improv Everywhere. From Boing Boing's description:
"In this video clip, the Improv Everywhere group brings 207 apparently normal people into Grand Central Station, whereupon they all freeze, at exactly the same instant, for five minutes, standing stock still, as though they were caught in some kind of time-loop. Around them, the Grand Central crowd looks on in wonderment, trying to figure out what's going on -- a little scared, but delighted too. When the frozen hundreds all begin to move again at the same instant, the crowd gives them a standing ovation."
SO wish I could have participated in that!!!

DAMN IT!!! 5 freaking days I've been trying to get in touch with the new Dr. to make an appt. Either they leave early so I get the service, or their computers are down so they cant take appts...every day its something. Finally get in touch today and ...they arent taking on any new patients at this time. Great. Now I have to jump through hoops to get in touch with my old Dr to get yet another recommendation as to who takes my new HORRIBLE insurance AND is experienced in treating my condition.
Never mind...I'll just die. It's easier.

If you need to create so much drama over something so completely stupid, please feel free to come see me so I can transfer some of my negative energy to you--since you so clearly love the excitement and I'm so very ready to be drama free.
Seriously, enough bad things happen in this world without people creating shit. Give it a rest.

I agree. I think everyone needs a hug. Or an orgasm. Y'know, whichever one will help you start feeling better.
Like, if people are gonna create thread after thread on the same topic, maybe if we ignore them they'll get the message? I think even arguing with people like that gives 'em the attention they're looking for.
And there's several folk doing that today, so I'm not even singling people out.
