I'm trying to finish this novel revision and I'm so stuck!! I'm almost done, I just need to fill it up with a couple more days while my characters are stranded in the middle of the desert with a totalled car. They hate each other by this point so they're not going to be kicking back to play charades. What is there for them to do while they're just stuck there?!
They could wait for Godot:D

^^ Hmm, pass the time by alleviating sexual tension?
Oh no, they've been through it already. They started out barely knowing each other, fell into a rather intense sexual relationship, and then it all went sour and now they hate each other (well, one is irritated with the other, who really HATES her). I can't see anymore sex happening.

Don't worry Rose, I haven't done my taxes yet either. I still have to request a copy of my police report (woo-hoo for deducting theft!)

Paint the car pink and lip sync songs by Abba?

Bah, that wouldnt quote. How about writing huge messages in the sand incase a plane flies over, or messages for aliens or something? I think thats what I would resort to doing. That or teaching myself how to weave a tent ot of dessert grass...

Yek, can they start walking and hilarity ensues? Or maybe one gets heatstroke and the other has to get past her hatred or watch someone she once loved die(and live with not helping her)? Maybe buzzards eat their toenails?
I'm just brainstorming...

One of them is going to die eventually (not in the way you think). I just need to kill a few days.
Messages and heatstroke are great ideas. I like that. Thanks!

I have this overwhelming urge to go for a walk in the drenching rain. Maybe I will. Maybe I'll go for a walk and buy a bottle of nice red wine, and sip it when I get home. I have a lot to think about at the moment.

Hmm. Circumstantial basic Q: Have they sent for help? And do they have any way to communicate with the outside world?
The writing-messages-in-the-sand-thing got me thinking - how would one send out a "message in a bottle" in a desert?
Yekhefah
03-10-2008, 08:27 PM
They have no way to get word to anyone. They're down a dirt track in the Outback (they were trying to get lost in the first place, at least the driver was) and they hit a kangaroo and totalled the car. Neither of them knows how to fix it so they're stuck there. Eventually one will start walking and the other will die while she's gone.

Right. But just write the good stuff. Don't feel the need to fill up the space or time, just because. Don't write the bridge. Just write the ending.

When I write, I always have the most trouble getting the beginning and the ending...everything else in the middle just seems to flow out for me. It started with my essays when I was in high school...everyone knew it was mine by the time they were done reading the first two sentences.
...So I don't think I'd be of much help Yek. Sorry :(

"Cruel Intentions" annoys me, and only because it's the silly teen version of "Dangerous Liaisons", which itself is a remake etc. Still.
I'm busting out a bottle of wine. All this marvelous music news has me giddy.

Thanks for the tips, y'all.
Cruel Intentions was terrible. Wild Things was cheesy B-movie awesomeness.
I has a malbec. Is nice.
Think I'm gonna put my old screenplay back on the shelf and come up with something original and low-budget to shoot in Memphis or Portland on a shoestring budget. Have a character, need a plot.

Good to know. Car gets me from A to B. Obviously some look nicer than others, but I can't find it in me to get worked up about a car that cost more than a college education. Most of the expensive ones are ugly to me anyway.
Now, I will confess to getting very excited about the Volkswagen Cabrio, and I looked forward to the day I could afford to have one. But alas they are no more, so I'm back to not giving a shit about cars.

I dont get excited about cares period. (a) I dont drive. (b) I have prosopagnosia / face blindness.
That may sound funny but people who cant recognize faces often tend to have great difficulty recognizing different type of cars. I am in that group so no, no car excitement for me.

I've gotten excited at the prospect of getting a Smart Car someday, but that's for its very specific benefits. It's the Lamborghinis and such that I just don't relate to.

Oh, I did the Altoid trick once! It was cool.
There is a restaurant in L.A. that serves sushi on a naked woman. I forget what it's called, but it's insanely expensive. You get up to ten of your best friends together and get a private room in the restaurant, all Japanese elegant, and instead of a table the sushi is served on a naked Japanese girl. Sounds like something you'd like.
I was almost the model for that once, but I got nervous. I didn't know anything about sushi though. Now I know and I'm going to do it next time my sushi chef regular is in town. Pretty good money in it, 300 up front for an hour plus tips. It scared me a little because you have to take a cold shower to lower your body temp first.
I can't wait now!

^Nor I. If a car doesn't look like a total shitbox and effectively gets me from point A to B, I really don't care. I also dislike beer and football. Does that make me less manly? I had a '66 Plymouth Fury as my first car, in amazing condition. Maybe that cured me of caring. I only really get a bit swoony over old 50's-70's muscle cars.
Wine wine wineywinewine.
I feel like watching a movie I haven't seen yet On Demand, but I really don't want it to suck. That's a tall order these days.
Old Man Cat desperately needs a bath before he goes to the vet in the morning. Fortunately, he has never minded being bathed so it won't be a crazy arduous task for my drunken ass in a couple of hours.
I have a pile of money saved for my tat sleeves upstairs. I should really finish the ideas I have thought out. Once I start, I know it's not going to stop.
The guy from Double Dare hosts a show on Food Network. Nice.

I hadn't considered movies! Can you get into movies at all if the characters have different hair color or race? Or does everyone look the same to you?
Sensory disorders are so neat. I have mild synesthesia, which might be why my mom and I don't get along that well; her voice tastes like bell peppers and I hate them. Whenever she's talking I just want to spit and spit.
