Lady Jade, how do you package your cookies? I want to ship some of my stuff, but I've never fedexed food before.
I put the cookies into those throw-away tupperwear things. I think Glad makes them. I make sure to "burp" the container so I get out as much air as possible. I usually ship USPS (it's cheaper, they do flat-rate shipping... but delivery-time can get screwy), but I'm sure FedEx/UPS/DHL are the same in that you should fill the boxes you're shipping in with newspaper or packing peanuts to make sure that whatever is inside doesn't get too jostled in transit.

Of course my mom freaked me out by reminding me that I hit my head pretty hard a week or two ago and I might have a lingering concussion. Great. I've prob got a blood clot in my head and will die in my sleep.
Nice knowing you all....bleh....
I dunno, I had a concussion from my first motorcycle accident and never had a headache, nor did I die when I slept (no one stopped me, not even at the hospital--I didn't find out until later you aren't supposed to sleep, lol). I was very sleepy all the next day though, so I slept.
But then I've never been prone to headache. Take care of yourself, good luck with it!
I wonder if my sister-in-law's dad will sell me his old Porsche...I mean, it needs work and all, gotta put a new engine in it, but he's using it as a shelf in his garage. A PORSCHE IS NOT A SHELF!
Wow, that would be cool! Post pictures if you get it--you know, before and after. And no a Porsche is not a shelf!
Mily, what's up with your vet?

Last night K and I were out walking, and he was venting because he's burnt out at work and doesn't like his job anymore. He said, "And you know, it occurred to me the other day... I'm a stripper's boyfriend!! Why the hell am I even working?" ::)
I told him it was because he's not a musician. He says he's going to learn to play the bass.

That's awesome. Sorry to use the trite adjective, but I mean it. I have only worked with 3-4 women out of god knows how many who have done this, but I love it when I have.
Keep it up, I bet it gets easier with time...

So way back in the day at my old club, we had this Drunk Angry Chick. She's older, but not in a hot way. Not even remotely. She has nice cans, but that's it... And when she gets drunk, she calls EVERYONE a racist. You don't tip her? Yer racist. You don't clap insanely after every song she dances to? Yer racist. Don't want a dance from her? Racist. Don't buy her a drink (customer or dancer)? Yer racist. I could go on and on and....
Flash forward to present day. One of the DJs who worked with me and this nutbag now owns a club with a family member. Said family member hired this chick and now we're all back to being racists. Even me, which would mean that I hate myself but... she insists that I am 100% anyways, and that I'm a lying racist.
Fun.

I haven't had any trouble with the cookies, but I've had trouble with homemade chocolates - just ask Cameron about her duckies (d'oh)! I ship USPS Priority Mail, which is 2-3 day delivery. The cookies I sent to Lysondra were gingersnaps, so there was no chocolate to melt, so I'm not sure. I'm guessing that shipping overnight or next day would reduce the chance of melting.
BTW, it's so adorable of you to cookie-gift!
It's the least I can do since I refuse to post my pic! lol

It depends on what you're offering! Really, the only thing I'm hoping to get out of future cookie-mailings is the postage (it adds up reaaaaaaaaaaaally quick). However, worthwhile barters will be considered.

I primarily like cranberries in Craisin form, even though the word is horrible and reminds me of an even more horrible word, "cremains" (which I still cannot believe is actually used in seriousness, but it is).
I also like cranberries in the form of an intact can-shaped cylinder of cranberry jelly on Turkey Day. No no, please don't add nuts and citrus zest and other shit to make a fancy "relish" of some kind. Just sliiiide it on out of the can, please, and cut me off a circle of it.

I hate that jelly shit. Cranberry sauce is evil.
But oh, do I love fresh cranberries. So tart they make your whole face pucker inward - yes please! I like to keep a bag of them in the freezer and have one or two as an occasional treat, or put them in a drink and eat them once they've thawed into soury deliciousness. I love sour things.

Hee hee, it IS nasty, I know. But, guilty pleasures are what they are.
Why do I wait until I have a UTI to drink cranberry juice again? Silly me.

Stuffing is my favorite too! But we Southerners serve it on the side and call it dressing.
Here you go then... Rummy Sweet Taters.
3 large sweet potatoes
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 milk
1 Tbsp vanilla
1/2 cup melted butter
1/8 cup dark rum
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Bake sweet potatoes until cooked and softened. Let cool, and peel. Put the baked skinless sweet potatoes into a very large mixing bowl, and preheat the oven to 350 F.
Mash potatoes well. Mix in white sugar and eggs. (This works best with an electric hand mixer.) Add milk, vanilla, and 1/2 cup melted butter. Stir well and add rum, then stir again. Pour into an 8x8 casserole dish (or a 9x13, but you'll need more streusel topping).
In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, remaining melted butter, and pecans if you're using them. Spread over the potato mixture, covering the surface. Bake uncovered 30 minutes and let stand at least 20 minutes before serving.
This travels well and tastes great at room temperature, so it's good to take for Thanksgiving. I've made it vegan with margarine and vanilla soymilk and it's delicious that way too.

I'm totally going for the vegan option. Clients want healthy-ISH decadence, so that is perrrfect.
Yeah. I'd better start practicing that recipe. Soon. Like tomorrow.

You know, I'm thinking if you cut out the white sugar entirely it'll still be just as good. I've been meaning to test that out myself. On a completely random note, my cat finally used the litterbox and ran around chasing his bell-ball for a minute. This makes me incredibly happy, because he hasn't peed or moved all day. It's been so hot, and we don't have air conditioning, and his thick fur... poor guy. He's too old for this heat. He's scarcely moved in days, and I was worried about him. But it's starting to cool off a bit and he's perked up, thank G-d. What a trooper.

When all else fails, cook with garlic sauce (I buy mine pre-made since I'm the only one who eats it here), black bean sauce (again, I get store-bought), or hoisin sauce. Tastes good with any kind of meat or veggies... and of course, tofu!
