Sorry, but fur is kind of a hot button issue for me.Pest or not...

Uh, yeah, me too. I'll just go mum on this, it could get ugly if I start:-X ...

(not that I have any problem with LM as a person)

Eh, I don't like it personally, but I can see it looking really good on you. When do we get to see a pic of it on you?

What do you think?

I'm a blunt person. You asked. If you want to only hear nice things, add in no negitivitity or something.

ya. This is totally the nice way to say it. imo, It's not updated old fashioned that looks great, it's ugly and has been hiding in grandma's closet for 60 years, and it needs to go back.

You'd look better in almost ANYTHING else.

Again, I'm blunt. I find straight up honest opinions are the best way to convey what I truely feel, espically b/c on the internet we only have emoticons to convey things like tone, body language and expression.

And that's the mean way of saying it. /:O

mean, or honest? very subjective...

Eh, I don't like it personally, but I can see it looking really good on you. When do we get to see a pic of it on you?

I agree. It MIGHT look better on.

LR, don't get offensive hon. No reason to apologize for your personality; I'm sure LM wasn't personally attacking you.

Lysondra
04-21-2007, 05:57 PM
I wasn't attacking anyone.

Did I get mad when people straight out said they didn't like it?

NO, I got mad when people were DOWNRIGHT RUDE about the way they said it.

You said my dress was a reject that belonged back in grandmas closet... that was RUDE.

I don't care if you don't LIKE it.. SAY that... don't be a complete ass and insult me or my tastes. Just say you effing don't like it.

Okay?

Christ.

See, this is an example of the nice way to say you don't like something.

A bit better...I just have issues with animals being killed soley for vanity. It actually is more justified to me if the meat off the rabbit was eaten. And if it was wild and hunted...not farmed and cruely raised to be a coat. But personally I could never wear any fur....it just bothers me too much.

But it's YOUR wedding..YOUR dress....so the only opinion that matters is YOURS....and you obviously love it. I'm honestly not sure why you even asked for opinions....why not just say "this is my wedding dress and I love it"? You had to know you would get some negative feedback on this...why open yourself up to it by asking for opinions?

And the wedding location sounds beautiful...when is it?

AGAIN...

Negative feedback - One thing.

Negative INSULTING feedback - whole other story.

I don't care if people don't like it. It IS a weird dress... but to insult me and say it belongs back in the 60s where I should've left it along with dead pieces of thumper is the RUDE way to say you don't like something.

At least I try to let people down nicely when I don't like something.

I'm sorry you didnt like what I said, but like I mentioned...it is a hot button issue for me. As it is to many people...it isnt just about taste to me ..it's about my feeling that it is wrong. And it IS dead pieces of thumper(well...rabbit...I dont know that particular one's name). With an issue that is as emotional to some as fur..you have to expect a bit of heat.

Many people here dont hold back and sugar coat when they post..especially when specifically asked for an opinion.

But like I've also said TWICE...it doesnt matter who likes or dislikes it or why...all that matters is what YOU think of it. Which I'm honestly not sure of...otherwise I see a thread like "hey guys..heres my fabulous wedding dress..I cant wait to wear it"...not "what do you think...". Just an observation(dont want to be mistaken for being rude)

I agree. The model is 3 sizes bigger than me, too... so it's being trimmed down...but I'll totally upload a pic once it comes from Sydney.

Oh oh oh! And it comes with a MUFF! It looks so hot with the fluffy white muff. :D

The rabbits in Aus DID have it coming.. man those bitches kill our crops.

Plus the rabbit stew was tasty.

As an aussie, yes they and the toads and the foxes and all the other introduced animals that the europeans who 'settled' here thought would be a great idea to bring over (home away from home) including cats .. feral ones especially... now remember i absolutely love and adore animals yet I love and adore 'nature' even more and am not stupid... they impact the environment in a way (and have continued to impact the environment) that I do not feel 'sad' for their loss when someone uses them for fashion or anything.

It must be an aussie thing. We all realise how much of a pest these animals are!! They are not cute, fluffy, pets... they are PESTS!

... and I mean they are pests to the NATURAL FLORA AND FAUNA not to us humans.

anyway, lovely dress... can't wait to see it when the wedding goes ahead ;D

I'm all for the protection of animals and their habitats if they are 'natural' to the environment. Oh.. by the way.. it is known fact that the aboriginals who live off the land kill feral cats and all these introduced species for food. so what's the difference really? just that someone is actually wearing this rabbit not just eating it and letting the rest go to waste.

I agree with most of the other posters about not liking the jacket. I actually thought you would go with something involving a classic corset. But I think with your complexion and hair you will look stunning in any white gown.

LatinaRose

I like fur, don't personally like the jacket, but if you feel beautiful in it, you will look ten times better than that silly model. Pics asap please!!

I think the gown is beautiful and will look even better on you. I'm not too crazy about the jacket but it will serve it's purpose and I'm positive it looks better on than in the pic provided.

It's hard to tell what it looks like in that picture really. But you know the saying, "You make the outfit, don't let the outfit make you." 8) I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in it. ;)

When I first saw it I was like "HUH?", but now that I look at it more and more and listening to what you say about it....

I think it'll look really storybook fantasy wedding. :heartbeat

And kill me if you must but I think the rabbit fur would probably look really gorgeous in person. :)

Lysondra

^ That was actually my reaction to it, as well. I didn't like it much but when I put it on... ooooh it was all storybook with the muff and cuuuute. ^-^

And yeah, the model was a size 12(australian) and I'm a size 6/8 Australian.

I know what you mean LM.

The wedding dress I picked( when I was renewing my vows, had to put that off for a while) Didn't look great on the model in the magazine. I also wasn't too over the moon for it either on the rack, but decided what the hell and tried it on. OMG I fell in love with it!

Be sure to take plenty of pics of you in it, I wanna see!

Not to mention LM probably looks brilliant in white!

Holy crap with red lipstick! You HAVE TO WEAR RED LIPSTICK with the dress!

Kitsune83

Love it! Super-cute, and I personally love the jacket too!!! It's got a Grace Kelly sorta style to it (and I do love Grace Kelly's style). I don't like the idea of wearing fur, but if I could get it in a faux, I'd probably give it a try myself (though I haven't a reason....no foreseeable marriage propoals, but a girl can dream, heheh)

I'd be more in favor of a "winter fairy" makeup style with pastel blues or lavender, like my avatar. I can almost imagine big, beautiful fairy wings with that dress, or a full-length white rabbit coat with a matching fuzzy hat and muff like Russian girls used to wear.

Huh huh huh huh Dammit Lillith I wanna see your muff! Huh huh.

Damn, how did i miss this thread??

well, I for one DO like it. I think you'll be an Audrey Hepburn bride. ;D It's vintage/retro, but also fairytale and classy. You'd rock it, what with your sultry mouth, your gorgeous hair, your china skin- it'll be great. And not many have the poise/looks to do so. Awesome pick.

So, what's the something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?

Besides rodent fur, what fabric is the dress? How did you find this dress?

Lysondra
04-23-2007, 08:16 PM
Old is technically the dress since it was hanging in the closet before I bought it.

New is the jewellery I got for it from Swarovski.

Borrowed is the... um.... oops.

And the designer always sews a blue ribbon in her dresses.

Don't lend her one. The garter gets tossed to the men, remember?

Lysondra

^ I should SO get a stripper garter and toss it to the ladies. XD

Then they can USE it.

Hey Lilith- How is your wedding planning going? Are you still doing the Phantom theme?

You're dres is very different and vintage-y... I'm sure you'll look fabulous!

Happy planning!

Lysondra
04-24-2007, 04:37 PM
^ Yup, still doing it... but it's probably postponed as I have found it too be to expensive for short-term tastes. I refuse to go into debt for a wedding, so I'm just making it later to pay sooner.

I'm making Michael's suit since I can't find one nice enough,

You must be one helluva seamstress, Lillith! That's frikken' awesome.......I'm trying to learn to sew, but so far nothing complicated for me :o)

You're doing a Phantom theme? very cool.....hey, don't worry about postponing it, the longer you wait, the better your titanium boobs will look, right? Plus, you're so right, going into debt for a wedding is a mistake that a LOT of people make, so kudos to you for refusing to become one of them! I know a girl that blew the down payment on her house to get individual little wedding cakes for everyone....cool idea, but not worth losing the house over.....by the time she made the money back, the house had been sold for months....talk about suckin'

Word of advice: Don't let the bakery or the florist know that it's a wedding or a similar big occasion. Unless you're set on a huge, white, multitiered wedding cake, get a variety of cakes. It'll save you hundreds. White cake tastes like styrofoam anyway.

^ One...there's only two real flowers at my wedding and two: I already planned on getting a small cake and serving everyone sheet cake

I refuse to go into debt for a wedding, so I'm just making it later to pay sooner.

I hear you! I think the average wedding in Colorado is about $20,000... ummmm, that was most of the down payment on my condo! I simply can't justify spending that on a wedding. Plus, I don't buy into the whole idea that it's "the biggest day of my life," I mean... that would be so sad if it were true.

We're very lucky. We've got a lot of friends pulling a lot of strings for us so we're maintaining our budget. A few DIY projects arne't hurting either. I'm doing all the flower arrangements- bouquets, bouttineres, corsages, and centerpeices myself. I made my own veil and two fascinators to match different outfits (I'm wearing three dresses througout he course of the evening... yay ebay!) and we're doing cupcakes ($.050 per serving) instead of a traditional wedding cake ($3-$7 per serving).

Making the grooms suit... You've won the award for best DIYer! Good luck with all your planning, I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful!

Lysondra
04-25-2007, 06:46 AM
I'm not a cool DIYer, I'm just too lazy to find tails that fit my skinny boy! Making it seemed easier! :P

The cupcakes sound good. I was thinking of baking sheet cake and just putting jam and half a strawberry on each serve so it looks more Victorian.

There's no bouttineres or corsages thanks to the theme... and the only two flowers are mine AND Michael's... we're both holding a single rose with the rings tied onto them in black ribbon (someone get the reference...).....

I love getting people to help in a way that's not a financial burden. My friend gave me a photography discount... etc. And I'm having mum make the tea sandwiches for the brunch.

I have heard this from a lot of people, I guess wedding dresses you can't really tell until you see it on you.

I agree with others this dress has a very classic look and I think it'll be great for your wedding.
