....it's just a bag!
GASP!!!
:faint:
Just kidding!
To a lot of people it is just a bag... and to me, a Ferrari is just a car. We all have something we splurge on, covet, or take pride in just like we all have something we could care less about.
Flaunting a knock off is like trying to pass Boons Farm as Dom... why bother if you obviously don't have an appreciation for it?

And I dont think the real thing would print "This is a Coach bag" inside it...they would just have their label.
no, they do.

Speaking of this, some stupid cunts came up to me today and we all, "OMG IS that bag real?! NO WAY!"
Y'know what pissed me off? The fact they assumed it was fake!! It certainly was not. Then they started going off on how much it must've cost me yaddayadda.
Grrrr... Might as well buy fakes for that reaction. :/

i honestly do not understand the obsession with name-brand bags/purses. dare i say this....it's just a bag!
what do i know? i buy most of my clothes off of ebay!
I don't know why I have this obsession, it's just that I really like quality. I HATE to shop, so when I buy something well made, I don't have to shop as much for replacements.
I buy classic, well made items and each season, I only have to buy a few trendy pieces to pull together my wardrobe.
And there is nothing wrong with buying clothes on Ebay. You can get some wonderful designer things on there at a fraction of the cost. The reason those people can sell them is because they've lasted. Again, a quality issue, not just a label.
I watch my mother buy things at Walmart and they don't last so she has to replace often. Well, if she added up the amount of money she spent compared to my one quality purchase, it would be the same.

^^^ there's nothing wrong with wanting quality merchandise. yet i don't think that people are shelling out hundreds of dollars for a gucci bag just because of the quality. it appears that they buy it for the name.
what's in the name for people? is the name a status symbol, such as "look! i'm able to afford high-priced stuff!"?
as for quality, my leather cherokee bag/backpack from target with the cell phone holder has lasted for 3 years so far and keeps on going! i paid $26 for it! :)

Pretty much. I want an Aston Martin for the same reasons. :P
And along the same lines, fancy cars are just better made and have more features than cheap cars... just like purses.
Wow, I'm sad.

well thats definately true the status comes into it. But for instance I buy designer shoes for the quality and I am fully aware that only a select few will realise it is a high-end designer item. There are no logos for the ignorant to easily identify this piece as designer.

Just going to add: you do not have to spend 250+ on a purse to get good quality.

Yeah. I wouldn't be able to justify $300 for a purse... :P

Very well put! To me a Ferrari is a work of art though, but the point is that everyone has certain things that are important to them. I personally could care less about TVs, Play Stations, etc., but my brother buys all kinds of that stuff. I felt like I was over spending by buying a $400 TV! And I'll probably keep it until it literally dies.

for me, i think it has to do with more of the quality of a designer bag than the name. if you buy a cheap bag, you cant expect much. but when you buy a high quality bag, they last forever. and ussualy if something happens to it, (ex; thread starts to come loose, the leather rips) the company repairs it. (not alot of people know that companies like coach will fix your handbag for you)

I love quality and beautiful designs. I love bags and shoes that are rare and unique and not worn by the masses. Yes they are a status symbol, but that is not the only reason I purchase. I just absolutely love fashion and I love wearing the best I can afford. That is why I spend $$$ on designer items.
