The fact that your jealous of a girl who got screwed - she must be hot.
Yeah, I'm really jealous! I just wish I was Paris Hilton right now because she's being sent to jail. And, oh yeah, she's hot.
::)
Logicmuch?

...I'm happy she got sentenced and I don't care if its "over the normal sentence", I'm actually happy she got more, because she deserves it...
idk, I think we're focusing on celebrity and missing the point. She's an attention whore, yes. She's hella interesting to watch, yes. She broke the law, yes. And she's a citizen of the U.S., yes. The first couple of facts have nothing to do with the last few. If she is doing illegal things, and got caught, then she deserves the same punishment Joe Blow from the middle of Ohio would get for the same crime. If he gets off with a hefty fine and AA meetings, so should she. If he gets jail time, so should she. As interesting as all celebs lives are to me, I don't think they deserve immunity from the law, but I also don't think they should get harsher sentencing, unless it's deserved for the specific crime. JUSTICE, JUSTICE!!!

See, and I think she should get it because she's acted like an immature twit. Just a difference of opinion there. Though I find her more abrasive and annoying than "interesting to watch" as well.

I hope this serves as a wake-up call to all the celebrities and smartass rich people who think that they can buy their way out of justice.

Who knows the hell knows if it's appropriate or not.
Pro
-She was driving 70 in a 35 with no headlights on.
-She probably drives with a few drinks all the time.
Cons
-The article I read listed her being late for the court hearing as a factor in getting the sentence.
-She got a .08 percent, which is the lowest possible score to be in trouble.
-California is far harsher about first DUI than most other states. -> Suspended license, she got 36 months probation, automatic alcoholism therapy.
-A generation or two ago this was not considered a crime.
Her biggest sin in all of this is leading a very disorganized life, not knowing the terms of her sentence or following them. 45 days does seem a little harsh though.

I have to say I cannot believe they are being so harsh.
I've lived in the ghetto and everyone goes to jail. Funny thing is that what she did would never get more than two weeks in jail if she were one of us.
I've known people to repeatedly violate probation and still get more time and more court dates to fix it. This is even for violent crime.
To those who believe this is just. You have a very warped sense of what our justice system actually does and is for. Even VIOLENT offenders barely serve any time. Driving drunk, bad yes, but so many people don't get caught and when they do it's not as harsh.
Dare I say I bet most of you would still be serving time for your goings on if we enforced the law to the letter.....In some states pot smoking gets you tiime - so stick up for your justice.
I'm coming to terms with the power of haters in my own life. Haters are jealous, pure and simple.
The fact that your jealous of a girl who got screwed - she must be hot.
Power to her, she'll end up even stronger and more powerful after jail time. Haters wait and see.
How many times must it be reiterated that she is being judged for several things she's done to break the law, not just one?
And we believe it's just because whether or not we agree with the justice system, we want her to receive the same punishment us common folks would get.
I really hope you people who keep saying we're haters when we have continuously disproved that logic of yours would wake up and realize how ignorant saying that sounds.
Continuously getting disproved, and still repeating the same phrase ad nauseam is IGNORANT.

No I don't think the law should really be that much stricter.
I too am Catholic and sorry but I believe the most effective way to deal with whacknuts is forgiveness and guidance.
Our jails are full, the government is a self serving entity, and jail time creates bigger monsters.
I've been raped several times and still don't think much jail time would have changed any of my rapists for the better.
Some guidance and empathy, yes, jail time, not really.
People commit crimes beacuse they have deep seated problems. My guess is Paris is an alcoholic and needs some help not bulldykes panting down her neck.
Fear changes people for a short time, love changes people for the better.
Driving with a suspended license. I've done that to get to work. Eat me.
LOL. Let me know how your fantasy world works out for ya ::)

I find it very sad that you actually think this way. if someone raped me..hell yeah I'd want them in jail. It isnt just about rehabilitaion..its about punishment.
And if you actually believe forgiveness will stop offenders...you havent dealt with as many as you claim to.
OK! The last time I checked, forgiveness doesn't magically make things all better. I forgave the person that did some really f--ked up things to me, and ya know what, they're still messed up and doing some really horrible things. This is the real world, not some fantasy land.

Just to lighten the mood a little :) I came across this and thought it was weird that he had a cocktail glass in one hand and a cell phone in the other lol.

Looks like she had a change of heart about appealing her sentence:

So I'm listening to my local radio station this morning and some lady actually wrote to the governers office asking that Paris Hilton go to jail... and she got a response, which she sent to the station. Basically, in so many fancy words, they said that the issue wasn't even on the radar and they had no intention of interferring.

Please. She "absolutely realizes how serious driving under the influence is"? That just means that she'll get a driver to take her to her parties now.
I heard on a local radio station that this guy (if I was sober, I'd remember his name. kidding, but I really don't remember his name) was organizing (quite poorly) a "Jail Paris" party in the bar of the Beverly Hills Hilton. Now, as much as I think we're blowing this out of proportion as the media has blown Paris out of proportion to begin with, it sounds like fun.
I, for one, think it fitting to raise a toast to Paris Hilton in the bar of some local HIlton hotel on June 5.

Personally, even though it IS somewhat unfair that she gets more than another person might, look what else is unfair. She has TONS of money she doesn't have to work for, is world-famous for doing practically nothing, and people in Africa are straving- hell, people in AMERICA are starving- and she doesn't donate to charity, not even for a photo op.
