I just wanna say...I almost always look like hell when I get to work. That's all. :)

Wow, I have NEVER heard of a club where there is a dresscode for just showing up to work..

well, this clearly doesnt apply to you then.
however, i have to ask. do you you really put so much makeup on ect. that one would define you as a stripper on your looks alone?
i personally have never had anyone say... to much makeup? nice clothes? you must be a stripper.

I don't purposely try to do my make-up like a stripper but I do wear a lot of make-up including usually smokey eyes and eyeliner etc. I dont even do my make-up like this in my personal life - it's usually very low key.
The street where I work has 6 strip clubs on it (King St Melbourne) and dancers are kind of obvious down there. A lot of guys hang around King Street and make it a sport to try to pick up dancers leaving work so many of the girls completely take off all their make-up and try to be inconspicous while leaving work.

^^^ I always spot other dancerswhen Im walking down King Street even if Ive never seen them before and theyre not obvious dancers. Often its the size / shape of the bag theyre carrying that gives them away. I can spot that stripper shoe shape a bag makes a mile away, lol!

I just go in with jeans and a t-shirt on most of the time. I'll have on some concealer, mascara, and lip gloss. Just the stuff I've worn all day. I go straight to the dressing room, and don't make any eye contact with customers first. I don't want them knowing what car I came from. I look so different with my makeup anyways, you can't tell it's me.

I guess it depended on the club for me, and also how much time to get ready I had before my shift started. If I had to walk in front a bunch of customers sitting around, then I would at least do my hair and not wear ripped up jeans. Some clubs let me go in the back, or there would be little to no customers there before a certain time. If I was having a slow and relaxing afternoon, then I would be made up completely upon arrival to work. If I was running a million errands and didn't have much time, then I'd be wearing some sweatpants and no makeup. Like Paige, I'd also wear sunglasses if I wasn't wearing makeup.
I worked at one club where there was a shower in case you couldn't be bothered to take one at home. I like to think I can be a little bit more prepared than that. I have to shave at least every day I work!

I know exactly what u mean, AlexxaHex...we have a shower in my dressing room, too, and some girls actually use it! I do not get that! I am way too OCD to be showering in the club!

I always have my makeup on, but I normally wear jeans or a track suit when I go in. I have to travel so much that I like to at least be slightly comfortable most of the time.

When I worked in Seattle I would walk right from my internship to the club. I was really glad they had a shower. The girls would be like, "OMG, you are actually going to shower here?" Hell yeah! The club even had white fluffy towels that they kept in the cleaning closet but did not use for cleaning.

I guess if the showers were presentable like yours sounded with the towels and everything, it would be okay...but the girls at my club are a little slobbish.

Another reason I try to walk into the club with a bag not a luggage bag UNLESS I really really need to do so (as in doing a show at the club etc).

I can usually stick everything I need to take with me to the club within my AVON shoulder bag or two of those SUPRE bags (sometimes even one).

This even furthers me in re safety and making sure I'm not looking like a stripper only a lowly waitress from the club.

Usually wear sweats/tights here with a hoodie, the only thing I do before work is my hair. Comfy coming in like a complete bum.

HAHAHA OK I admit, I look like a wreck when I go in (hair damp from shower, no makeup) BUT I do wear cute track suits a lot. This way I can wear a hood on my head so that nobody sees my messy hair, and I wear my big ole aviator sunglasses so nobody can see that I have no makeup on. As incognito as possible.
I know I should have my hair/makeup done when I go in, but at least I try to dress cute...I just like the ritual of doing my hair and makeup at work.

We have a back door and separate parking lot for the dancers, (although it is within sight of cutomer parking lot) I usually wear jeans and a t or tracksuit, easy off clothes and I already have my makeup done. My hair is simple and done by brushing and flat iron so i do it at home too. I never uderstood the girls that come in fully decked out clothes though, as if they are going out or did before they got to work and they aren't. It's not like that so much at this club though, everybody seems more focused on work rather than impressing the other girls.

I used to walk into work looking like a bum: no make-up, basic tee, sweatpants and hoodie. I didn't care what I looked like and wanted to be comfy.

But now, I try to look at least presentable when I walk in and out of work because as someone else has said it sets a good impression. And when I say presentable, I mean not like a slob but not like a slut either. So no more trackies for me (unless they're Juicy Couture ones).

^^^ Lol, that was actually the sort of bag I was talking about.
Alot of dancers use them so as not to be ovbious when theyre walking to work. Ive just seen so many I can often tell when someones got a pair of stripper shoes in the bag.

I look nice, but that's because even my casual clothes are dressed up to people. Like, I wear black slacks and a fitted suit/velvet jacket usually as my everyday clothes, I don't wear sweats or sports type stuff...

And I do the majority of my makeup at home, so...I look nice. Not super sexy or dressed up, but put together.

Theres no dress code in mine, but even if we DID look amazing, they dont let us walk into the bar (say, to the DJ booth to hand him a CD) unless you are decked out in stripper gear. Hey, the few times I did run to the DJ in jeans, a hot top and high heels, I got more guys staring than when I was naked. Hmmm, maybe that says something? lol jk

I wear my big ole aviator sunglasses so nobody can see that I have no makeup on.

Oh my goodness.. I have a hard enough time as it is not eating shit down the stairs while my eyes are adjusting to the club lighting! ;D

As for how I look when I go in... it depends on my mood. Generally, I'm wearing about half of my make up (the important parts) and my hair is at least decent-looking if not completely done. I usually wear sweats in the winter... but I wear skirts and dresses in during the summer.

There's no entry/exit dresscode for my club either and thankfully there's a back entrance and separate parking lot for employees. There's no customers to run into, the back door leads straight to the dressing rooms. The most you'd run into are other girls and/or the staff.

I don't feel pressured to dress up nor do I. I generally wear comfort clothes like sweats or jeans and a t-shirt, nothing fancy at all, but it's mall walker presentable.

I always try to have my makeup and hair done before I go to work unless I'm running late.

If you saw me going to and from the club you wouldn't know that I danced by looking at me, but the large duffle bag that I carry has sparked a few conversations.

I pull the whole "Clark Kent -Thing" off myself. My club has a back entrance for the dancers to go into that goes straight to the dressing rooms....Once inside the phone booth....POOF!!!!....Out comes SUPERMAN!!!:seesaw:

Haha! i call it my superman too!

I'm with GoldCoastGirl and others on the safety aspect - i used to wllak to work at one of my clubs and so would go in saggy skater jeans, hooded top, my hair tucked under a baseball cap and a scarf around my face (full face of make-up underneath though cuz the light int he club was terrible so i always prefer to make up at home) - i'd have my kit in a backpack and sometimes i'd skateboard to work.

It was my safety kit - i could be the (albeit short) DJ or barman or whatever going in through the door - custies wouldnt pay me any attention cuz they wouldnt know - all they know is wheni emerge like a butterfly on the floor. I'd usually take a nice dress and heels too for when i had to go out and hand out flyers.

At other clubs where they were not near my home i arrived differently - in some nice jeans and high heels because yes, you do represent the club and yourself as a dancer, but that should NEVER be at the cost of your own safety.

If I'll wear it in public, I'll wear it into the club.

Personally, I put strict limits, for my own personal sense of sanity, on what can be demanded of me by the job. One of the things I don't think can be demanded is that I'm a billboard before I'm actually working. I mean, I live in the city I work in. I might run into customers or potential customers on any street corner (no, not THOSE corners, ladies), any store, any restaurant, any bar, any grocery store. So, yes they may see me and realize that a) I'm not a pinup and b) I don't dress in high heels and stripper gear all day and night. So, I'm not going to get dressed up to get undressed and dressed up again. I'm not a Barbie. Then again - I obviously don't feel that it is having a serious impact on my income. I mean, for every guy who thinks "Ew, sneakers - that's not sexy, she's out" there are three who don't care. If it were the other way around - I might reconsider.

However, for those ladies that really feel it helps their income - power to you. Like, if you feel it is personally helpful or to do otherwise is personally hurtful - you could be right for your specific circumstances. I think though, the reason some girls might be getting their backs up is because it is being couched as a moral imperative - something we owe the club, or something that stupid or immoral (somehow) or wrong not to do. It may not have been what you meant, but honestly when I read things like "we should never be seen looking tacky" or "this should be standard stripper procedure" my personal reaction is "Screw you, don't tell me how to dress." A lot of you ladies are (inadvertantly, I'm sure) really coming across as saying that a girl like me (who doesn't dress up to go in to work) is inferior somehow to you.

I go in dressed either in jeans, a jean skirt, or those cotton comfy suits. I really, really don't think it makes a difference. I can't dress up to save my life in everyday situations, but I think I do a decent enough job on the strip club floor when I'm actually working. I've worn a variation of the same outfit every day since eleventh grade, and I'm not stopping now.

I do have all my make-up done before getting there, but that's just because it's comfier to do it at home than in the change room.

Nope I dont dress up to go to work. Sometimes I dont even match. Since both are small I dont run into many customers and if I do I just smile big underneath my dark big glasses and sweatshirt with jeans.

I wear either jeans and a shirt or a track suit, but I don't specifically get dressed up to go into work, unless I'm going to leave work early and go out.

Although I will say that I did one time have a guy see me walk into work (I was just wearing jeans and a tee shirt) and asked the manager if he could get me. The dude took me to VIP as soon as I got out of the dressing room.

So maybe looking cute does help lol! I always wear comfy shoes though. Always. At the end of the night when my ass is sitting at Denny's, I don't want my footsies to still hurt!

When i went to work, usually sweat pants and a nice form-fittin shirt or tank top, comfy but not too raggedy either. Hair/make-up and jewelry done too. And I always am smiling. Personally, I think a good smile will go a lot farther that what clothes you are wearing. The guys dont care about the clothes you wear in really, its once you are on the floor that you have to think about you are gonna wear.

I almost always go into work with my hair and makeup already done, even if I get there before the club opens. I like to do my makeup in peace and not have to talk to the other girls while doing my makeup. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a stuck-up bitch and I enjoy socializing with the other girls, just not while I'm trying to get ready. The only time I do my hair and makeup at work is if I'm running late.

If you work at a club where you're walking in when the club's already open, I definitely think it's to your advantage to come in already done up. A customer who is getting ready to leave might change his mind and stick around and spend money on you if you catch his attention. :)

i walk in in a huge hoodie (with it pulled over my head) and dark glasses) I dont want anyone to see me walk in, whether I am done up or not.

its no one's business what i look like in civilian clothing, lol.

THIS IS SHOW BUSINESS
i walk in makeup done and dressed cute, like i would be to go out. you never ever know who is watching you when you walk in. this should be standard stripper procedure
no rules like that in my club just common sense

And you're all set if you decide to go out!! I hate when I wear a tracksuit and everyone wants to go out. My club doesn't have a dress code for entry but we are encouraged to not look like crap.

I am seriously for the whole dressing for safety thing and that it's nobody's business that I'm going to work at a SC. I've been followed before...and it is not a fun feeling! Especially when I have to drive in rush hour traffic to get to work around countless drivers the whole way...I don't need any extra attention, gawking, whooping, weird looks, yada, yada, yada when I'm on my way to work (this is w/ makeup and hair done)....I like to save that for when I emerge out of the dressing room and I'm out onto the floor. There are a lot of sick weirdos out there who not only stalk girls coming out of the club, but can just as easily stalk a girl on the way to the club, or anywhere else for that matter. Once I am in the club and behind closed doors, I feel safe enough to put on my whole "Stripperella Masquerade Costume"...that's just the way I see it. I'm just extremely cautious of my surroundings whether I'm getting to the club or leaving it.

Centerfolds in SF was the only club I worked at that actually really tried to enforce the dresscode rule for comming into work. But that was years ago, I don't think they do anymore.

I just like the ritual of doing my hair and makeup at work.

Me, too. I like sitting in the back and transforming myself into a stripper. I also love watching the other girls come in and metamorphize. Sometimes I see girls I've worked with for months and don't even recognize them until they put their eye make-up on.

When I started dancing I took the bus to work, so I got in the habit of dressing down and getting dolled up in the dressing room. Now that I drive to work, I still wear whatever I was wearing that day -- usually jeans and a T-shirt, pony-tail, no make-up. This thread might make me reconsider, though.

I usually come in in jeans/cute shirt and my makeup partially done, eyeliner, foundation, blush, the kind I wear to school, shopping etc. I like to do my "stripper" hair and makeup at work.

Whatever I felt like wearing is what I wore. I know I felt better walking in more put together with a cute outfit on, than I did in super-unfeminine sweats, though. However, if I was hungover though, there was no talking me into getting myself together before the last possible second.;D

our club doesn't have a dress cofe for "walking in". that's likely because we have a back door that's open for an hour when we're all coming in. the only time you have to walk through the club is if you're really late. if i'm coming from school, my clothes are just casual "me" clothes. if i'm coming from home i'm usualy -super- comphy. tank top, work-out type pants (yoga pants), really thin cotton shirt, etc. oh and i wear flip flops to work 75% of the time. the biggest reason is because i -hate- having to put on shocks and shoes after dancing all day/night. i'd rather just slip on some flip flops and leave. the only exception is if i know i'm going somewhere after work.

as far as make-up goes, on slower days (mon-wed) i show up with no make-up on. on busier days i tend to do all my make-up at home. this is because i hate having to get ready with a ton of other girls around. it's too crowded. on slower days i know fewer girls will be there, and i typicaly know them all, so it feels comphy to sit there and do my make-up.

I almost always have my hair and make-up done when I get to work. What I wear varies: sometimes a t-shirt and shorts, sometimes jeans and a cute top. I'm not going to be wearing it for long, so it doesn't really matter. I put more effort into what I look like and wear out on the floor.

And if I'm going out after work, it's probably to IHOP:P

No dress code where I work. I usually wear jeans and a fitted T shirt or sweats and go into work without make up. I also work durning the day and arrive before the customers do.
