I just booked a stay at a cute B & B in the French Quarter Feb. 18th-25th and I need some general, current info on working in NOLA clubs as well. Whatever you ladies could tell me would be awesome, thanks! ;)

If you don't mind do you think you could PM which B & B. Im going from Feb 16-19th which clubs are good on bourbon street for a more sensual, rather than booty shaking dancer:-*

^Mostly that last week when it's craziest. Mardi Gras is really about a month long, ending on Mardi Gras day (Fat Tuesday), which is Feb 5 this year. The week or so leading up to Mardi Gras day is the really crazy (non-money) time. Most of the shitheads arrive for the last weekend (which is this coming weekend) and stay through Tuesday. Everyone leaves Wednesday and the city will be dead for a week or two after. You won't see much during that week or two except a whole lot of trash, and beads hanging from EVERYTHING in town. LOL

Awesome, thanks Bridgette. Guess I'll just have to forgo working and parteeeeeee!:D}:D

;D Get ready to fight through a LOT of people!!! It's fun if you like crowds - Mardi Gras is crazy ridiculous crowds. If you do Bourbon street Thu-Tue nights you'll literally be stuck in wall to wall people packed in like sardines. Literally. Best way to move through that is to get next to one wall and slide along the wall, and hang on to whoever you're with! No businesses will let you use the bathroom unless you're buying something, and some of them flatout charge a fee for the bathrooms.

For me it was always more fun to avoid the Quarter unless I was in a closed party on a Bourbon street balcony ;) The parades don't go into the Quarter anyway, so if you head uptown to party there's more room to breathe, and you can catch the parades from there.

Go to NOLA.com to get parade routes and schedules.
has links to most the parade krewes' websites.

I recommend you especially look for these parades: Bacchus, Endymion, Rex and Zulu. If you like dogs there's Barkus ;D but I don't remember when that one runs so maybe you'll miss it...

^^^Wow thanks for all the info!:-* I've got cousins in New Orleans, so I'm hoping I'll hook up with them. Endymion is one I'm dying to see. My cousin went a few years ago and took lots of pictures. The only Mardi Gras I've been to was in Pass Christian, Mississippi, and I know it's going to be nothing like Nawlins!

I was thinking about working this Tuesday(not fat tuesday), but I might just say fugit:D

penthouse is less than a block off bourbon on iberville which is between the 100 and 200 blocks. Ricks is in the 300 block of bourbon. 315 if im not mistaken. ps. it's been bad. money sux. should be non-stop tipping and dances with this many people in the club.

I'm in New Orleans right now. it's been pretty dead since after New Year's. Should be picking up soon, the closer we get to Mardi Gras.

I will be heading down on the sixth. Been thinking about temptations and little darlings. As this is my first time travelling i'm scared as shit. But it has to be better money than stupid memphis.

I danced in new orleans for like 10 years, and last year I worked mardi gras for the first time. The money was great, but getting to work was a HUGE pain in the ass. Here's all my advice.

As far as clubs go, penthouse is definitely the best. It's the cleanest and has the lowest fees. It's really expensive for dudes and it's right off bourbon which cuts down on the college kids and cheapos. They don't run any dance specials or make you do a cattle call, and management is super cool.

There are some sketchy cab drivers in new orleans who will try to fuck you over if they know that you are a dancer. Make sure they turn the meter on. If they pull over in some isolated area and threaten to throw you out if you don't pay them an extra $40, don't pay them, and don't get out of the cab. Tell him that you are not getting out of the cab until you've reached your destination, call the cab company on your cell and tell them what is going on. If he threatens to call the police, tell him that you would love to talk to the police and you will wait. This has happened to me several times, and they always back down when they realize that I know how much trouble they will be in if they get caught pulling that shit.

There are some local regular douchebag customers, who have been around since I started dancing, and will waste your time promising you vip rooms and never deliver. Michael Hingle, and a dude named Sanjay are both personal injury lawyers who you should avoid. There is one other guy too whose name I can't remember, but you will know if you meet him because he will grab your hands and play with your fingers for an hour if you let him. Every time you try to leave them, they will give you the "don't go. have a drink and then we'll go upstairs". Don't believe them.

Bring your id AND your social security card on your first night. If you want a free drink, just ask the manager. If you are at penthouse, tell the VIP host not to mention the 20 minute rooms to your customers, and they will be totally cool about it. You only get $80 for those rooms, so they are a last resort reserved for only the cheapest customers and the slowest nights.
