Just checked a few prices and rooms at the Orleans are just $35, $35, and $45 for the 4-7 of Sept. On the opposite side of the freeway near Tropicana. Decent restaurants and a free shuttle to the strip, and Seamless is across the street. Also bowling and a multi-plex theater. The 3 days after Labor Day has the cheapest rates, by $20, than any other night thru Oct. Also I think the Rio, with the VooDoo Lounge is within walking distance.
ETA: http://www.thegunstorelasvegas.com/rental.htm
If any of you want to shoot a machine gun, you can print a coupon for $5 off the rental price.

Are the dates for sure going to be Sept 4-7?

Couple more options: The Palms at $89 per night and the Flamingo at $250 total for the 3 nights. Both have really good pools.
Imperial Palace-$217
Bill's Gamblin Hall (formerly Barbary Coast)-$240
Both of these are now owned by Harrahs, both on the strip. I'd take Bill's over IP.
Excalibur- $223 OK place to sleep, good location, not much else to reccomend it. I think rooms are shower only. Stay out of the pool.
You can try calling and asking for a host, but discretionary comps upfront with no history at the property are extremely rare. But it's a slow week coming off a holiday and it doesn't hurt to ask.
Still tough to beat the Orleans price.
Also TicketMaster has limited seats to Cirque de Soleil shows for $50 + $8 fee. Doesn't include "O", but all others are available.

One question, I've never taken a trip by myself before...can someone give me an idea of the amount of money I should be saving for a trip like this?

The Rio is not within walking distance from the Orleans. Orleans is off strip pretty far. Nothign in walking distance from there becides Seamless, and there is no monorail. It would be constant cab rides. I would not recommend the Orleans unless you have a car rental. If you were going that route, there are much better local type casinos off strip to stay at. Silverton, South Coast, Any Station Casino.......
Gold Coast is within walkign distance from Rio and Palms, and probably pretty cheap. It's nto a bad place, but gambling there sucks ass, and it's a casino for cheap asses. I don't like it there.
And as far as getting rooms comped at Excaliber, like I said, it is very well known that they are giving with free rooms, just for asking.
The first time we got a room there for free, we had no players card, and no history of play. We called and asked, and recieved.
No..it's not a great place, but if it's free and on the strip, it's a good deal. And I did take a bath there, not shower only. So at least some of the rooms have tubs. Plus from there you can take the monorail, or walk to several of the nicer casinos.
Barbary Coast is pretty crappy, good location, but I wouldn't stay there.

I only stayed at Excalibur twice like 10 years ago and there were no tubs then, and they had to shut the pool down both times because some diaper wearin kid shat in the pool. That place is full of ankle-biters and I wouldn't stay there even for free.
I forgot the one thing the EX has going for it: You can get Krispy Kreme donuts at lots of the strip hotels, but the EX KK actually makes them there, so you can get a straight from the grease, hot glazed donut.
Here's an entertaining site with lots of info:http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php

That was 10 years ago. Much has changed since then, LOl. You really can't give current revews and info when your last stay was 10 years ago. I mean..so much has changed since then.
Vegas does tend to keep their stuff in good shape and well cared for.
Excaliber has been remodeledd since then, actualyl it was last year or the year before they remolded their rooms.
I did not see to many kids there, as we HATE children. That's why we never, ever go into Circus Circus.
Trust me, I have stayed there a few times in the past 2 years, and it isn't bad. No..it's not MGM grand, but it's not bad either.

I think the Palms sounds good at $89 a night. Will probably go up to $200-ish for Friday night tho, but I really don't want to be there for the weekend unless I was planning to work. I was hoping to stay somewhere different since I've stayed there a few times, but at least I know the beds are good. The food from room service blows balls tho. Anyone find any of the other nicer hotels around that price for the 4-7?? I'm being lazy...
Kaylinn
07-05-2007, 09:25 AM
4th-7th hotel prices are:
Flamingo &86 per night
Harrahas $73 per night
Palms $116
Planet Hollywood( alladin) $100 per night
MGM $126
NYNY $110
Luxor $90
Sahara $40
Bally's $93
MOnte Carlo $ 99
Hooters $60
Trop $67
T.I $105
* Taken from Expedia.
I'd go with Harrahs or Flamingo, Bally's thoes are all good locations onthe strip. Hooters ispretty chap to, right by MGM.
Off strip:
Palace Station $40
Soth Point $56
Orleans $42

I thought Orleans is a decent place, no? I've eaten at some of the restaurants there, but never stayed at the hotel. It looks nice enough downstairs....
I have stayed in a couple Fremont street places, and I don't recommend it! Stinky, smoky and rundown is how I would describe them. The carpet was in bad need of replacement, or at least cleaning and re-stretching to fit. The walls must be paper thin, or something, because even in our non-smoking room we felt like our entire bodies were just being permeated with smoke. Yes, it was that bad. Soooo not easy to sleep like that. We just did it for the experience, and we agreed we wouldn't do it again.
I have stayed at Luxor and it was nice, and the Rio too. In fact, for $100 a night Rio makes a great place for people to share rooms because ALL their rooms are large 2 bed suites with a couch. Depending on how friendly you are, 4 people could easily sleep in one of those rooms.
I'm interested in cheap for this one though, since I'll be working too.

It is a decent place, I've stayed there a couple of times, the rooms are not bad at all, it's just as mentioned already a bit off the strip (although I do believe that they run a free shuttle to the strip throughout the day).
Based upon my experiences, other good cheap options: the Sahara and the Stratosphere.

Orleans is just too damn far. Anyone ever stay at Treasure Island?? I like staying somewhere nice when I'm not working. Esp since I've had so many working trips where I've stayed in weekly places!! And I can get a good deal at one of the better hotels if I'm there during the week.
LatinaRose
07-05-2007, 11:08 AM
B - or anyone looking for a weekly place - I've stayed here a few times for about $300 a week. Nice and clean, free wireless internet (a must for a working trip, right?), kitchenette, 24 hour Mcdonalds right across the street, close to a grocery store and the outlet mall with restaurants, etc. You MUST have a car tho, unless you fancy spending more on cab rides. It's about a mile and a half south on the strip from Mandalay Bay, about 5 minutes or so.
^^Scroll down to the weekly rate and it'll be $300ish. You just really need your own ride to stay here, it's not far from everything, but that extra $8 on your cab ride will add up after a few weeks.
There's another a weekly place right next door to the Crestwood, a bit cheaper, but it's a little ghetto. No wireless internet and rather drab inside. The Crestwood is worth the extra money. But here's a link if anyone is interested.

I always want to go to these get togethers but it always fails last minute due to my crappily insane schedule.... bah! :( But I need to go to Vegas again soon because I want to check out the bigger nicer clubs out there for work. It would be nice to browse around some w/other dancers that know them.

AHH! How did I almost miss this thread! I can drive ot Vegas easy! AND my hubby builds friggen dune buggies! If you girls don't mind the man tagging along in the desert, he'l bring his 4 seater too!
If not, then he can stay home. I'm in for sure, just need to know the dates!
Doooooood!!! Bring the man and the buggy!!! I think I can safely say that all of us who'd like to ride some buggies would be more than happy to hop in with yall and skip the $500 rental ;D Yeeehhhaaawww!!!!!
Well dammit. I already booked at Palace Station for Sep 4-9. Wish I'd seen that post about crestwood suites before. Oh well, it's only $48 more for the week, so that's ok. I'm gonna be driving in from North Dakota so I'll have my own ride.
As for the rest of yall, I don't recommend trying to walk ANYwhere in LV, especially that time of year. That shit always looks way closer than it is, and before you know it you've walked a friggin mile. Fuck walking in Vegas!!! I always either drive or rent a car in that town so I have transport. If you're flying in, rent a car or bunk with someone who will have a car and split costs.
So anyway, point is: I'm gonna be in Vegas September 4-9! (gonna work the weekend) Yall get your asses in gear and get your travel booked!

+1 on the Orleans.
I stayed at TI a year ago. I don't recommend it really. For weekdays after Labor Day weekend, you can find better choices; although, the location is great.
South Coast is too far. You need a rental car too.
I haven't stayed at Red Rock, but it looks pretty nice. Once again too freakin far though.

#1 mistake for tourists.
"Oh, that casino is only across the street, we can walk"
Its alwyas like, 5 miles futher than it looks.
( ok, I exaggerated a little, bt for real..get a cab, take the monorail, rent a car, get on the bus, don't walk. You'll walk all night and never get there.

B, can't you cancel your reservation within a certain time frame?
And no, I won't walk anywhere in Vegas, even if it is just next door. Next door in heels is a cab ride away in Vegas!
StevieStar7
07-06-2007, 12:23 AM
So, is it up to us to find our own place to stay or do you guys do this as a group thing? If reservations are made as a group, don't hotels usually give discounts at group rates?
^I would book my own hotel room if I were you. Or ask one of the other girls if they want to bunk. Have you read the thread? There's a lot of places that have been mentioned.
Some girls are only stopping by for a couple of days...some are staying longer than others, and some are extending their stays and are going to work as well, me being one of them. It just depends on what you want to do, too. It's not really a "Group SW Tour"...Sw'ers are just all meeting up on their own terms, basically for catching up and fun.
As far as how much money to save for the trip, that's up to you, too. Only you know how much money you will need for a vacay. Are you planning to work? Are you going on just the dates specified? Just partying with the other girls? Eating out everynight? It depends on you, sweetie.
Yes...it's a group event...but you still have to kinda be prepared and have your own plan, too. I know I do. ;)

Ok, so I'm putting this out there. If there are any Dallas girls going, let me know. If you want to drive....I could do the car pool thing, split gas, room together....I'm up for anything, any ideas and suggestions....just let me know!
^There you go, StevieStar! That's whatcha gotta do! ;D ;)

Just wanted to remind anyone who's p,lanning on working to make sure you bring 2 forms of ID, as you will need to get a business lisence( $100) and a Sherriffs card( $60 I think?)
LatinaRose
07-06-2007, 08:55 AM
As far as how much money to bring?? That depends on a lot of things. Are you planning on working?? Not working?? Do you gamble?? Will you stay somewhere with a kitchenette or will you be eating out? How much will you spend on alcohol/going out/partying? (You can go out in Vegas for free really easily, so you don't need to budget much for that.) You will definitely want to shop and I want to take a group trip to the best hoochie store on the planet.
So if I'm going to work and make money, I bring $300-500 spending plus my hotel and gas money home. I would recommend you bring a bit larger safety net since you haven't worked in Vegas before and might not find a club you like right away or need a night or two to adjust to working there. Plus you will need to pay for your licenses. Expect the worst and bring enough money to get home. Don't get totally frustrated if your first few nights suck. I left Vegas in tears the first time having made a grand total of $800 in two very long stressful nights. I think a lot of girls require an adjustment period to learn the hustle there b/c I went back and killed it.
If I'm just going to party, I like to bring a grand for spending, plus the money for the hotel. I don't gamble, but I love to shop and eat at great restaurants. Plus, I'll buy some bomb weed and a couple E pills. So it really just depends on what you like to spend your money on.
I highly recommend that Crestwood Suites to anyone that is working there and will have a car. If you are bringing a pet, the Manor Suites next door allows them. And yeah, I think everyone will just stay where they want to stay and we'll meet for shopping/dinner/clubbing. Vegas is one of the only cities where we could all stay at different places, so why not?
StevieStar7
07-06-2007, 10:48 AM
Thanks for all your help guys!!! I'm not sure about working (i'll probably only be able to get a way for 2/3 days) Besides I'd rather just go and party at the clubs and see what it's like...:) Also, how many of you plan to fly in?
Bridgette
07-06-2007, 12:23 PM
On the sherriff's card: if you're UNDER 25 you will need your certified birth certificate, not a copy. Also a photo ID such as driver license or state ID.
If you are 25 or older, you just need two government IDs - I'll use my passport and DL.
I was charged a deposit for the room at Palace Station but I just read that I can cancel 48 hours in advance for a refund. I think I'll go ahead and book at the Crestwood because I like having a kitchen, and cancel the PS res.
And yall, PLEASE, I'm outspoken but I'm not some crazed bitch or anyone to be intimidated of. I don't get why so many girls say they're intimidated of me. Ask the ladies who've met me in person, I'm just a normal chic, with a bit of attitude :P
I want to work at OG for the weekend, since they have open schedule and low fees. I don't like the whole, get hired for certain shifts and pay out the ass BS.
Bridgette
07-06-2007, 12:38 PM
Okie, booked at the Crestwood. Gee, I hope there are no stalkers reading this :O
Also, yall who are saying the Orleans is too far: You mean too far to walk, or what? Because I lived in Vegas for a while and lived right near the Orleans. I thought it was really damn close to the strip - really just one major light away. If you're driving, Orleans is f'in close.

Ok, I've been looking at sites like expedia, hotels and priceline.com....there are so many choices!!! I've never been to Vegas before, so I don't even know where to start...is it best to stay on the strip? I'll probably fly if I can't find someone to drive with me (don't want to drive alone). I know passports are for going out of the country, but besides an extra form of identity, do you need one?
Bridgette, you said you wanted to work at the OG...what's that short for?

Priceline is way cheaper than the other 2!
Hotels and Expedia.com both offer the same rates: Creastwood @ $547 & Orleans @ $465, while Priceline only offers Orleans @ $388 for those dates!

Kaylinn
07-06-2007, 01:11 PM
If your going with Orleans, you do need a rental car, or expect to pay a lot in cab fares. It's not walking distance, and the monorail doesn't go there.
Bridgette
07-06-2007, 01:13 PM
OG = Olympic Garden.
You can also use a social security card for ID to get the Sheriff's card. You must have 2 forms of government ID!
Go here and read for details on the Sheriff's card
Oh, and I screwed up on the age thing before: if you're 25 or under, you need your birth certificate. Age 26+ just need the two forms of ID.

That is a nightly rate at the Crestwood, go to their actual site for the weekly rate.
For those that are just coming to party, I think I want to stay at the Hard Rock. Expedia is $116 a night, plus 20% offf at the spa and 15% off entrees at the steakhouse and 15% off at their cute little boutique. That is a damn good deal for the HRH!!
My other choice is TI b/c it is right by Fashion Show Mall.

I went to the topless pool at the Wynn, it was beautiful. I love their pool, but no way am I spending $400 a night on a room!
I was thinking HRH would be good too b/c it's a good place to start and finish, esp for party people. They don't care if we make a lot of noise or cause some stripper trouble. I have a friend that will hook us up at Body English, the sushi at Nobu is fantastic, not to mention the steakhouse, rehab is the original pool party (tho I prefer their pool during the week, rehab is far too crowded and dirty), lots of celeb sightings, and the casino is always full of sexy people having a good time. I can't really ask for anything else.

^I dunno, the Nellis Dunes thing looks fine to me. I don't mind spending some money to ride the buggies, but I also don't fancy blowing my load on the one activity. The Nellis one sounds like it's plenty thrilling and fun. Although, if everyone else wanted to do one of the others, I wouldn't mind.
