So anyone here who actually thinks it should get passed?
NO.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!
NO!!!
I think we need to do some mass deportations and put up massive walls at the borders. And get rid of the damn H1B visas while we're at it, or at least drastically reduce them >:(

The deportation is going to literally cost billions. Moving around soldiers that you don't have to track down requires so much planning and so much cost... Additionally, mass deportation of illegal immigrants WILL decimate the US economy. A lot of our agricultural/service/factory/construction sectors will screech to a grinding halt. It sounds like a simple thing to say, but they wouldn't BE here if they were detrimental to industry and their bottom line.
Go after the businesses that hire illegals first and foremost. You can't expect people to not come if people keep giving them jobs- from the restaurants you eat at, the corporate farms that make the produce, and so on and so forth. I live in a border town, and it's hilarious to see people hire illegal immigrants as nannies, gardeners, etc while wanting to deport illegals.

^Agreed. I just like things to happen faster and we KNOW employers are always going to hire illegals as much as possible because it's cheap. Same reason they keep lobbying for more H1B visas - they just want more cheap technical labor.

I remember working for a restaurant back in high school- our ENTIRE kitchen staff, with the exception of two dishwashers, were illegal. The INS decided to raid, and we had to shut down our restaurant for 3 days. i remember coming to work, getting out of the car, and seeing all the kitchen staff running in all directions with INS officers running after them. I walked in the restaurant and the manager told me to go home and the restaurant was closed until further notice. In fact, I don't know of a restaurant in San Diego County (including the uber-fine dining places) that don't have illegal kitchen staff.
