Ya'll are so sweet. I'm sorry I don't get much time on-line these days as I am always at the hospital.
Well things were going good. He is gaining weight and hyper as usual. We had a few ups and downs and he had surgery to close a hole he had in the heart vessel but he recovered wonderfully.
However 2 days ago I went to visit Jayden in the the NICU only to find him wrapped very tightly in a blanket with his leg crooked while also being strapped down to his bed, he had milk spilling out of his mouth and his oxygen levels were dropping (even the alarm on the oxygen machine was sounding) all while his nurse is at the other side of the room READING THE FUCKING NEWS PAPER!!! The nurse didn't even notice that I was standing there until another nurse had to nudge her... can you believe the cheek of the bitch.
Anyways a few hours later after she leaves (the night shift nurse had removed the blanket at this point) I notice that his leg is BROKEN. I am trying to change his diaper and he is SCREAMING. I call the nurse who didn't even notice it and she informs the doctor. They perform the xray which shows that he has a clean break on his thigh bone.:'( He was in so much pain. This little 2lb 11oz boy crying his eyes out and nobody even noticed. Imagin if I hadn't noticed or I hadn't gone to see him at that moment? Who knows how long he would have been lying there like that. I'm not a medical professional, I shouldn't have to be the one to pick up on theses things.
Anyway they are doing an investigation right now. I really don't know how I hold it together sometimes because this is the hardest shit ever. I have no trust in the medical system especially after what happened to me last year.
Sigh.....I'm just so tired.

How is he doing today? I hope he is doing fantastic and is home now with his mama where he belongs.Thank you babe. He won't be home till August. They have to wean him off the ventilator first but his oxygen levels are improving. Even with a broken leg and the pain that he was in he was still trying to breath all on his own.
He's a little warrior :)
Holy hell...I cannot believe that NOBODY up there even noticed that. What nerve some of these people working the hospital have (we had an incident kind of like this when my grandfather was in the hospital). Grr...makes me mad when they do things like this.
Glad to hear he's doing well otherwise, but I'm sorry to hear what happened to your precious little one.

Yea and it is not just the U.S it is the same shit in the U.K also.
He is doing better though they have him on Tylenol which seems to be working and he has a cast (it's so tiny lol). They said that it will heal perfectly because It was a clean break and his bones haven't even formed properly yet.

YIKES! I hope he heals quickly - I can't believe the nerve of those doctors/nurses...have you thought of possibly transferring care or would that not be a good idea right now?

I'm sorry to hear what the little fellow has gone through--just shameful, really. I hope they'll be on top of everything now with him (moreso because they should be afraid of legal action) and that he'll be watched closely. What a great mom you are--and what a great bond you two seem to have. I'm keeping you in my thoughts.
I very much understand the long, tough time you are going through. I went through something similar in a hospital recently. But at the end of your situation will be a healthy boy--what a great miracle; I found, in my own case, that the secret was to always keep my eye on the patient and make sure the medical people were doing the same--just as you did--this philosophy got me through the tired times, and the rest falls into place. There will be days when it feels like you are going into war. But you will find strength in yourself that you didn't know you had. Do one thing at a time so that you don't get overwhelmed.
You're doing a great job. I know you probably won't read this for a while but please know that we are all pulling for you.

OMG, Seraya. WTF? Just be sure and take the high road and don't do anything to that nurse. >:( I will drive out there and kick her ass for you.
I'm sending you lots and lots of hugs...and positive energy. Your little one is going through a lot, but he's so lucky to have you for a mom!!!
Let me know if you need anything!!

Thank you for sharing his update. He is so strong going through all this even as new challenges arise. He is stronger than anyone I know - I am so amazed. I'll keep him in my good thoughts and prayers. What a courageous little guy he is. I'm sure he gets it all from you. Lots of  during this tough time hun.

First of all, I have to say that I am so happy that little Jayden is puling through all of this. He sounds like one tough cookie with an incredible spirit ;)
Second of all, how incompetent of the hospital staff to do that! I can't believe the nurse was just sitting there doing nothing while poor Jayden's oxygen levels were low and was setting off an alarm no less..>:(
So was it the fact that he was wrapped up so tightly in the blanket that caused the break in his leg?
He's definitely a survivor, and I hope he continues to grow and be healthy so he can come home with his mommy where he can be taken care of like he needs to be.

I'm sending good vibes to your kid. I'm going to be a nurse, and it pisses me off when the healthcare staff are ignoring patients so they can go through the latest Avon catalog or talk on their cell phones.
On a little side note, be very wary when a hospital claims that it's nursing staff is highly ranked. This is due to the customer service model of healthcare, which has become prevalent in fancy hospitals such as the one that you are at. As my grandpa used to say, "The bed is made, but the patient is turning blue." These generations are so spoiled that "good service" is all too often not based on healthcare, but comfort care. Hospitals are capitalizing on this, and are shooting themselves in the foot because of it. I refuse to get a diabetic ice cream for obvious reasons, and I'm reported as being mean. I'm trying to help a little old lady up to the bathroom, and a man screams at me because his toast was cold even though I try to explain to him that someone needed me more. When trying to save money, they cut costs on nurses and think nothing about the huge marble fountain in the lobby. The hospitals are to blame for this, as the ones who stay employed are the ones who can appease, not the competent ones who want to heal people. Basically, you'll get a beautiful room and service with a smile, but shitty hospital care, as proven by that broken leg. Just a little note...
Good luck with the rest of the stay. Poor Seraya, you must be stretched so thin.

Wanted to second everything said by Hatshepsut here--it reflects much of what I saw during my hospital experiences.
And I wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you today, Seraya, and hoping that each moment things are getting better and better for you and your boy.
