I'm relieved to hear that my kitty will be the same after babies. Seems like everything else goes all to hell.... well, I know that's not true, but still...
Anyway, I think it's great for women to be able to get surgery and feel more comfortable.

my pussy is dying.
 Funniest thing ever!
I'm right there with Paige and Lilith. It's ugly, embarrassing, and uncomfortable, and it's the ONLY thing I would get surgery for to change about myself.
Anybody remember that pussy thread a while back, where someone posted a link to pictures of all the different sorts of pussies out there? And all the different responses, how some were pretty or normal, and some were ugly. Mine doesn't make the "pretty" or "normal" list. It's not grotesque but it's not pleasant (to me anyways). I totally didn't know how funny-looking it was until then. Since then... I'm so horrifically self-conscious of it!
Sigh...

I had to do a research project on this subject for my women's studies class, complete with oral presentation and visual aides. It was in an auditorium with 200+ people, and I was amazed at the response a 10 foot high vagina on a projection screen received. For the most part it was female, maybe 25% male-- but the females had the most response to the photos of the "imperfect" vaginas. Due to the nature of the class, it was fine to show pictures of vaginas (which BTW, vagina is the name of the birth canal, the actual physical part of the female genitalia we refer to as "pussy" or "kitty" or whatever is actually called "vulva", so this thread would be more correct if it were named "Designer Vulvas"... lol) I showed a series of "desirable" vaginas, mostly taken from pornography and airbrushed photographs, followed by the ones that for some reason, our society deems "undesirable" the "outies", ones with larger labia minora, uneven labia, larger clitoris, etc... and the audience acted disgusted. It was the oddest thing.
How can a vulva be imperfect? I can see how it would be labeled so if there was a serious deformity or chromosomal problem, but a chromosomal problem (often the cause of wanting a "designer vulva") often goes unnoticed because of course the simplest way to fix the problem is to cut things off, rather than tell the person they're intersexed or do genetic testing.
The reasons for this surgery becoming popular are mainly due to the ever-present idealistic perspective of the way the female body is supposed to look like- in porno flicks, glossy magazines and even word of mouth in popular culture.
I do understand why a woman would want to undergo the surgery for herself, it's kind of like why women want to get breast implants or reductions.. for themselves... a better self image, look better in clothes, fix physical problems.... but there always is that societal factor-- no matter what. You can say you're getting it for you, but there is no way that society does NOT influence what decisions you make for your body and self-image.

maybe I'm wrong....I still think it's dumb, but I also don't have a vagina, so I will admit that I might be wrong when I say it's dumb. The one argument that makes some sense to me is the one about the long lips getting caught in zippers, and the gross/sweaty thing you can get going on....OTOH, my balls get sweaty all the time and I have never caught my penis or scrotum in a zipper.
Would someone here post pics of a pretty vagina and a not-so-pretty one? Malformed vaginas don't count....I'm talking about normal vaginas that you all just think aren't nice looking.

This is Dr. Matlock, as featured on Dr. 90210 :
The general consensus, from what I have researched.. is that a desirable vulva is an "innie", neatly packaged, pink/close to natural skin tone, with groomed hair.... ala.... this :
and the not so desirable ones... well I guess just look at the befores on the vaginoplasty surgery pages... obviously that's according to the people who got the surgery, not the general consensus from society... but in general the vulvas on the surgery sites have larger labia minora and are assymetrical--- WHICH THERE IS ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with :)
and quite a few of the hegre models have "undesirable" vulvas.. you just have to look through the pages.

^^Strange-I guess I have a 'desirable' kitty, but I always thought it looked odd. I like those Georgia O'Keefe swirly outy kinds! I wouldn't get surgery, because messing with functional parts sort of freaks me out-I don't mind having my nose pierced, but I wouldn't get my tongue pierced for example. I can understand about discomfort though-I almost never wear pants because I have really really shelfy butt and it's so uncomfortable. I can only imagine having that discomfort around the tender parts.
I'd hate for the innie puss to become a required sort of thing though. The difference is half the fun.
