I've just realized I've never tried wearing a pad. The thought just never really turned me on.
hahahahaha I just imagined you in the store looking at the different kind of tampons and getting all hot and bothered, then glancing at the pads and being totally turned off and walking out like someone drank your last diet cream soda.

Tampons. I wore pads the first year I got my period, but could never do that again. They feel like a diaper, they bunch up(even with the damn wings!), and I don't like my vagina sitting in a pool of blood. I'll sometimes wear a pantyliner at night, just in case.

Hahaha. Thats exactly what I do when I purchase feminine goods, actually. :D Those pads better not try and talk to me or I'll get disgusted and just walk off.
(And may the party who ever considered taking a sip of my last diet cream soda be damned, and warned)

That's what my hippie 'totally natural' friends tell me. They say it's because baby socks are made for soft little baby skin so they have all natural materials and they're small enough.
I went to the store and looked at all the baby socks, and they were all made out of that cottony material that when it gets wet it's just soggy and gross and gets anything touching it bloody too. Maybe they have wool baby socks in Australia...
oh yeah and I have NEVER heard that about using a wool sock.. I've heard about using washable and reusable hemp or cotton pads with velcro on the bottom but I've never heard the wool (or baby) sock
Well, a wool sock is really a cheaper, less trendy, more available version of a hemp or cotton pad. Plus, it's much more dry and un-oogy.

I think it's still cotton but they just prefer it because it has no added chemicals like tampons or pads? I thought that was the reason you did it. Anyway, I'll mention the wool idea to them and see what they think :)

I hate tampons, but I have to use em sometimes. I always buy the lites since they're smaller and more comfy

To the earlier question about working when you prefer pads, I wear tampons when I work. I think that's why I HATE them so much. I used to like them alot more before working with them. I hate being paranoid I'll leak, and I hate wearing a tampon on that last day when you're 'kind of' bleeding, but not. Just enough to be annoying, and it hurts when I take dry tampons out. Ew.
So I guess if you factor in the amount of time I wear tampons for work reasons, I probably wear them about half the time.

I heard a couple mentions of this but nobody went into detail!
I use Instead SoftCup

I really believe they are a miracle gift for women. It's a cup that sits under your cervix. I can wear them at work and still go full nude, plus I still have sex on my period! With no mess! Therefore my boyfriend loves them as well. :-)

Tampons only. I hate pads, even pantyliners. If I have a liner on and sit down to pee, I'll rip it out of there once I see it.

tampons always. I don't recall the last time I used a pad.

I use them both but I prefer pads. My tampon always either leak or hurt when I take them out. Probably b/c I feel like I need to change them so often. I'm so paranoid about feeling gross when I have my period.

tampons.
i use the organic cotton ones from natracare and seventh generation. the only thing i hate about tampons is how they can hurt with insertion and removal.

Work - tampons of course
Outside of work, I prefer pads. I only wear Always ultra thins. I don't know, I like the idea of having blood flow out of me instead of being trapped inside of me.

I prefer pads if I'm at home and not doing anything.
I like to let my intial flow flow out...then I might wear a tampon in the middle, then I like to let my last day flow out naturally.
I know tampons are safe, and they are super convenient and clean... but I just like to let my blood out naturally. It is so nasty to be in a public restroom and hear someone changing their tampon. You hear the wrapper, then the sound of shoes readjusting across a floor, then the tampon, then the big nasty clots :barf:
I do the sock thing, too. I thought I was the only one and that people would think I was gross... lol. If I have a sock that's missing it's partner, I cut it up and kind of roll it and press it against the opening... they work for about 2 hours depending on the flow. Plus they're disposable.

If you use big wool socks they'll last a lot longer. Plus you can just wash and reuse them....
Tampons...No pads for me...I just don't like the feeling of the goo coming out of me...Yucckkk!!! I don't like the bulky feeling either. I haven't used a pad since I was 14.

I haven't used pads since I first got my period. I think I used them once, hated them, and went to tampons. But I'm also lucky, as I am on the 3month pill cycle, so I don't have to think about it much.

ok so this is TMI but this period that started yesterday is making me not want to wear pads anymore. Its super heavy and I feel that diaper thing y'all were talking about.

I try and not use pads because I get a bad rash from the moisture. My skin is far too sensitive. Especially in the summer. Just the thought of it makes my skin crawl.

I have the American equivalent - the diva cup :-)
I really love it.
1) Its medical grade silicone so I can sterilize it by boiling it (unlike tampons that don't have the be sterilized in any way)
2) It last for 10 years
3) No risk of TSS when leaving it in overnight
4) My one major tampon complaint was that gross feeling you get when you are just barely spotting (having an IUD it happens to me for a few days before and after my period) and and even after leaving a super light tampon in for hours when you pull it out its still DRY. ew ew ew ew. The cup is never uncomfortable like that.

Yeah the mooncup can be shipped over to the US. It cost me about $40, and it's basically the same as a divacup. I just heard of the mooncup first.

do you gotta boil them to make sure they are clean?
You can if you want. I just put em through the washer and then every couple months I soak them in vinegar.
