They clearly established that Dumbledore makes mistakes. And Snape KILLED him. He's evil.
I found this still photo recently, indicating that Ms. Rowling is introducing a kinky plot twist...

While Dumbledore is clearly fallible - I have difficulty believing that he just accepted an apology and was all "I'm sure you're sorry for what you did" - again, it is clear that Dumbledore does not extend a general amnesty to deatheaters. Like, I do think there must have been something more compelling than "I didn't realize it was wrong..."
As well, there was that conversation overheard between Dumbledore and Snape in which Snape was all "I don't want to do it anymore... I changed my mind" and Dumbledore was all "Look, bitch, you signed up, now you have to come through." I mean - if Snape is evil - what would that be? Like, it wouldn't serve the purpose he is meant to be serving with Voldemort for him to seem reluctant to spy on the deatheaters anymore, right? I'm pretty sure they were talking about the vow. I also thought it was significant that Dumbledore finally gave Snape the DADA position - knowing that the position is "cursed" as it were. Finally, I thought the conversation with Draco was significant - like I'm pretty sure that Dumbledore was trying to preserve something in Draco; like, when he offers Draco and "his family" protection - protection from what? His mother is a bad guy! She's not all "I need to be redeemed now that I understand how evil Voldemort is" - like we all know "protection" would not be effective. The line where he says "it is my mercy that matters right now"... Dumbledore had planned on dying soon - that was also perfectly clear - I mean, Harry got a whole lot of information very suddenly, didn't he?
