They clearly established that Dumbledore makes mistakes. And Snape KILLED him. He's evil.

I found this still photo recently, indicating that Ms. Rowling is introducing a kinky plot twist...

While Dumbledore is clearly fallible - I have difficulty believing that he just accepted an apology and was all "I'm sure you're sorry for what you did" - again, it is clear that Dumbledore does not extend a general amnesty to deatheaters. Like, I do think there must have been something more compelling than "I didn't realize it was wrong..."

As well, there was that conversation overheard between Dumbledore and Snape in which Snape was all "I don't want to do it anymore... I changed my mind" and Dumbledore was all "Look, bitch, you signed up, now you have to come through." I mean - if Snape is evil - what would that be? Like, it wouldn't serve the purpose he is meant to be serving with Voldemort for him to seem reluctant to spy on the deatheaters anymore, right? I'm pretty sure they were talking about the vow. I also thought it was significant that Dumbledore finally gave Snape the DADA position - knowing that the position is "cursed" as it were. Finally, I thought the conversation with Draco was significant - like I'm pretty sure that Dumbledore was trying to preserve something in Draco; like, when he offers Draco and "his family" protection - protection from what? His mother is a bad guy! She's not all "I need to be redeemed now that I understand how evil Voldemort is" - like we all know "protection" would not be effective. The line where he says "it is my mercy that matters right now"... Dumbledore had planned on dying soon - that was also perfectly clear - I mean, Harry got a whole lot of information very suddenly, didn't he?

Dumbledore would not beg Snape to spare him when he had not begged any of his other antagonists to do so. Dumbledore is not afraid to die (Death is just the next great adventure) and if his death advances the defet of Voldemort, he is willing to take that step.

By killing Dumbledore, Snape places himself back in Voldemort's good graces. Voldemort would have wondered all along which side Snape, as a double agent, actually claimed as his own. Snape is now Voldemort's most trusted confederate, since Lucius and sundry others are locked up in Azkaban, and many of the rest did not stand by Voldemort during the interim while he was missing.

Snape's skill at occulemency would allow him to keep his thoughts hidden from Voldemort. So, he is now in a perfect position to kill Voldemort once the remaining Horcruxes are found. If Harry kills Voldemort, Harry will have just taken Voldemort's place as the most powerful Dark Wizard in the world.

Voldemort must die, because neither can live while the other survives, but Harry cannot be the one to kill him.

When the final confrontation comes, it will be Snape that will kill Voldemort. I expect a little help from "the other side of the veil" from Sirius and Dumbledore, maybe even James and Lily.

Hmm, good points all. And Jenny, I agree wholheartedly with your sociopath theory.

I don't know. I see how your sociopath-ness works out. But it seems like most stressed out male teenagers could fit that category.

Thinking about the Harry/Draco pic...I read an extremely kinky and dirty fan fic a while back that did a Harry/Draco ship...is it bad that I really liked the story and thought they went well together?

I found this, and thought it was amusing. (I know, Star Wars ripped off lots of things, too)
