"Nah, I don't use nothin. I don't WANNA get pregnant or anything, but the guys I'm seein is really good lookin. So at least if I do, I know my kid will look good. I can't have some ugly little redheaded thing runnin around."

This is why I think it would be wonderful if everyone could be temporarily sterilized, and had to apply to get the BC "antidote". At least then lazy-ass idiots like her won't breed for a long time.

Okay so last night we were sitting around doing our makeup and I overhear two girls talking about Las Vegas, where another dancer is visiting right now for the weekend:
Dancer 1: I want to go to LV! I wonder what the weather's like there right now?
Dancer 2: I don't know, we should text Dancer 3 and ask her how it is ...
D1: Yeahhh we should .... OH but dude! I bet it's hella hot! Because, you know, the seasons are opposite of us over there and stuff. Fuck that.
Dancer2: Uhm, no. That's in like, Australia. We live in California. LV is one state away. The seasons aren't opposite...
Dancer1: Whaaaat? What the fuck, I know you don't think I'm gonna believe that shit. *cue incredulous expression*

now it just gets dressed up in monetary incentives and suggested "hysterectomies" for poor women who doctors don't think will miss their womanly parts and really can't afford the long term medical care required for managing some health issues.

Considering how many people seem to be in favor of eugenics, nothing would surprise me. I'm always appalled when people say things like, "People should have to get a license to reproduce," or "They should sterilize women after X babies," or "It would be wonderful if everyone could be temporarily sterilized, and had to apply to get the BC "antidote." People really don't think of the ramifications of that kind of thinking.
I was speaking to a bouncer ... something about school. A girl says to me "You go to college!" bright eyed and amazed
me: "not any more, I graduated"
girl: "dont you have to graduate high school to go to college?" dumbfouded
me: "umm ..yeah"
girl: Wow you must be really smart if you finished high school. I almost finished junior high, but it was too hard"
me: ok ... I think I have something to do .. like take a shit .. or anything else

Sorry, i'm one of those people.
It's just distressing after so many years in the system and seeing so many people who are destroyed/broken beyond any hope of repair because people who obviously were in no shape to be responsible for the raising of another human being just kept pumping them out and ruining them.
It's horrible.
Gotta have a license for a dog or to drive but any asshole can reproduce.

Because the child will suffer as many do. Passing psychological tests, financial tests(so they know they are able to care or a child) and physical tests(so they know whether the woman will be putting herself or the baby in danger...ex:if she is HIV+),and things like that will help to not have crack babies born,or babies born HIV+,or babies born to people who cant or wont care or them or worse, abuse and torture them(determined through the psych testing).
I'll all for people having reproductive choices...but I also would like to see child abuse, neglect, and the like go down. The kids shouldnt have to suffer or someone elses choice.
Having an abortion doesnt do that.

I disagree. If that were the case, then I would have never been born. My parents were very poor college students when I was born. My family also has a history of depression, heart disease, cancer, etc. That didn't make my parents unable to care for me, or more likely to abuse me. I do think that there are some people out there who definitely should not have kids for the reasons you mentioned above, but not everything is so black and white.

I'm pretty sure I'm not meant to post on here as I'm not a stripper but my 2c on tests to procreate: no matter which way you cut it that's going to turn into "buying babies" and rich, intelligent people can be abusive/neglectful too.
If this was remotely possible I think the best way to go is to have universal birth control, where you can get an antidote (or something) for free. So you don't have to qualify, but you at least have to go out of your way to get pregnant!
Leaving now...

I think her point is that it's a very slippery slope. Who decides the criteria? Who enforces it? Hell, we already have huge problems with our reproductive choices in this country--and many who would take those choices away forever.
Everyone feels that they know best, and that their opinion is the right one. But the fact is there isn't anyone I'd trust to come up with criteria on who gets to procreate. Just read up on anything to do with eugenics and I think you'll see how incredibly dangerous these ideas are.

Maybe the eugenics debate ec will be moved to another thread but I wanted to add my 2 cents. A lot of high schools around the country no longer offer Home Ec and Sex Ed classes. I think they would be, at least indirectly, beneficial to the population as a whole if they were fully implemented on the national level.
Women are able to produce at younger and younger ages and it will be an uphill battle to completely irradicate: children having children, the mentally/chemically unbalanced/drug-addicted having children. However, if teens were able to have more access to sexual health/child-rearing information in public schools, this could aid in making a certain percentage of young people more responsible and think longer and harder about engaging in unsafe sex and the true cost of raising a child.
When the information is presented in a factual, non-propogandizing way, hell, the cold hard facts of what is required to raise a healthy, successful family is daunting enough in and of itself!
Prevalent pre-emptive measures would open the dialogue between teens and their parents, as well as show people what sorts of problems can arise when they are financially unable to care for another life, with or without pre-existing mental health issues as well as for those at risk of developing drug problems.
By the time young adults are out of the K-12 school system, it is often too late to reach them. There are plenty of resources available to find out about proper child-rearinf but it is too dispersed in society to be effective. Home ec and sex ed classes are a much more direct way of reaching our most vulnerable child-bearing population.
K...wish I had something to add pertaining to 'overheard in the dressing room' !!! Oh, I guess I have one:
A young dancer of no more than 18 spontaneously confided in me a few years back in the dressing room that she needed to make $400 that night to pay for her abortion before it was too late. A horribly dark example of a 'success story'? *sigh (and I mean that in the most sardonic, dead-pan excuse for comedy type of way!!!)

Thank you. this is where I was coming from.
Obviously, there's lots of room for double standards, and scary 1984 shit. But I think that there should be some standards in who is and is not able to get pregnant (if this awesomely cool, totally safe temp sterilization existed). I am going to go through a HELL of a lot to qualify as an adoptive parent. Why aren't these standards in place for people who are popping out these kids (and then giving them up) in the first place?
I don't think it's a bad idea to tell someone who got out of jail that they have to wait a few years before they have a kid.
I don't think it's a bad idea that people with chemical addictions not be allowed to have kids (unless you think crack babies are a wonderful example of the beauty of life).
I don't think it's a bad idea to make sure people have a reasonable debt-to-income ratio before they have children (NOT an income level, but proof that they aren't in so much debt they can't handle the additional financial burden of a child).
And of course, if someone was abusive to a child, I think they've lost their chance to raise one. But I'm an asshole, so oh well.

Girl B- hey can you do me a favor?

so apparently girl A rooted around in girl B's ass with the end of a blusher brush and then girl B went to the bathroom. My friend and I was so shocked/amused that when we saw girl B we said "oh wow we've gotta see that!" thinking she would laugh it off, but oh no! She took us into the DR where girl A was and said "hey lets show the girls what we did. Girl B then proceeded to run round looking in peoples's make up bags for an object before thankfully getting out her own mascara tube. we then went into the toilet cubicle and girl B sticks one leg up against the wall, spits on the mascara and gives it to girl A to stick up her ass whilst my friend and I watched in a mix of hysteria and horror!
