I remember every Sunday night at 7:00 PM watching The Wonderful World Of Disney.
I remember The Sonny & Cher show and the Donny & Marie show....dear god.
I remember Laugh In and Dean Martin and The Gold Diggers (I planned on being one of the Gold Diggers when I grew up).

I remember:
- When maps at the gas station were free.
- When hair grew where I damn well wanted it to grow.
- When there was a difference between Democrats and Republicans.
- Captain Kangaroo.
- When $100 would get you a 10-year-old pickup truck, or a beat up Ford Mustang.
- When it was considered a high crime when I...er....someone stuffed Limburger cheese in the heating vents of the principal's car. (That wouldn't get a slap on the wrist now).
- When "Safe Sex" meant having the emergency brake on.
- When the Rolling Stones weren't "elevator music".
- When it was fun to vote, and I could walk outside and yell, "That's right, Senator! We're gonna get your ass now!".....and my vote counted.
- $4.50 would get you Reserved Box Seats on the first base side.
- .....And finally, I remember when I could remember ANYTHING that happened more than 10 minutes ago.

Slapping erasers together to get them clean

i remember tgif on friday nights and later snick on saturday nights.
along with that, hanging with mr cooper, dinosaurs (not the mama!), the cosby show, perfect strangers, mr belvedere, who's the boss, and the wonder years. and i watched them all with my parents religiously.
people keep saying pogs, but man I had a slammer collection that no one wanted to eff with
remember reading Tiger Beat and feeling like you were a teenager, then when you discovered Seventeen you felt so much older and mroe mature. Then you discovered Cosmo and felt silly for thinking so highly of yourself, then a year or two later realized Seventeen and Cosmo are pretty much the same thing.
Remember holding on to the hands of two adults and swinging between them while they walked.
Remember when there was only Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Mallrats?
Remember your stone washed jeans were so tight you needed the zipper at the ankle so that your feet would fit though the hole.
Remember when we were virgins?
Remember when this thread made me kinda sad? I do it was about 10 min ago....

I remember:
school busses without cameras
hehe that made me remember my bus to pre-k...all that was needed was that large newspaper article posted up there: Girl, 13, Killed Sticking Head Out of a Moving Bus
Speaking of pre-K, I remember my town having:
--Public pre-K not private
--A record store named Crazy Rhythms (it's turned into my favorite upscale sushi place, but wish it was still my fave local record shop)
--Not ALL THESE FUCKING SUV'S
--No starbucks
--No Starbucks turning into a daycare
--No McMansions (yes...sadly, they've arrived)
--"Old Hippies" not "New Money"
--1/2 as many banks and upscale restaurants
I could go on and on and I'm 22! Scary.

Remember that Nickelodeon show called You Can't Do That On Television? People would say "I don't know" and a bunch of green slime would pour from some invisible heaven onto their heads. Were they trying to condition us to think harder rather than giving an easy answer? I like to think it worked on me.
I remember having to push this button thing on a black box to get the antenna at my grandparents house to shift in different directions so we could watch the Canadian channels from western NY. I thought that was high technology. They also had one of those VCR remotes with a cord.
My mom had a Beta. We only had like 4 tapes for it. The 50 lb. VHS was where it was at.
Did anyone else have a laser disc player? My first step father had one, and got excited when Amadeus came out on laser disc. He had a computer that talked, but in very bad English. I think it was a Tandy something or other.
I remember when a dollar was a lot of money to me. I could buy all kinds of candy or even a bottle of nail polish at the drug store (I liked the multi-colored glitter Wet & Wild). Now I will leave a dollar sitting on the stage on principle if someone gives it to me in a rude way.
I remember when the opening sequence to Sesame Street didn't involve animation or CGI, just some kids running around the inner city alleyways drinking soda from glass bottles. I also remember doing yoga along with some long-haired hippie woman on TV every morning before Sesame Street started.
I remember when there were no Brita water pitchers.
Remember Popples? I had a white one with an orange tail.
I remember thinking those Adam & Eve sex toy catalogs were porn.
I remember being able to fit my whole body into a small bathtub without bending my knees.
I remember feeling safe at night, like I could trust my parents and I knew that I had my best friend just two houses down the street. I knew what being "home" felt like.

I remember when my school got color monitors for some of the computers - if you were really lucky you got to use one every once in a while. I also remember trying to program that goddamn logo turtle to draw a goddamn candy cane. Damn you Logo, damn you!
Oh, also when I found out that root beer wasn't alchoholic, and wasn't made from roots, but that may just have been my strange childhood. I remember going to get the milk that came in glass bottles everyday in small-town New Zealand. Gosh that was cool.

I remember slap braclets..
I remember my first crush. He molded me into loving the same men I love today. ( tall, dark, men with a bad boy streak)
I remember when I grew up and discovered my first crush had a terrible drug addiction that stunted his growth, made me a foot taller than him, and he had bad skin. Ihad such a picture of beauty stuck in my head that was ruined that day. :(
I remember only recieving PBS and KDKA.( local news channel)
I remember walking 5 miles to get to my friends house, and thinking nothing of it.
I remember my very first cd. Whoomp there it is, the single. I bought it in July, in anticipation of my first cd player for chirstmas.
I remember being IN LOVE with new kids on the block.
I remember standing outside, envisioning my first kiss....
I remember the butterflys in my tummy when I got my first kiss.
I remember when my mom made me go to bed when it was still light outside, and fighting with her cause nobody shoudl go to bed when it's still light out.
Espicially over summer break. Damn..why'd it stay light until 10pm?
I remember my first job, I made $400 in 2 weeks, and had never, ever had $400 in my hands before. I felt rich!

I remember when my tv was black and white.. had no remote.. and two big turn dials... One with channels 2-13 (even though we only had four to watch.. abc, nbc, cbs, and pbs) and one with the 14-99 UHF channels.. (even though only 1 channel even barely came thru with much rabbit ear manipulation, but it was the only place to watch Speed Racer..)

I remember when i was a kid.....i miss those times...heck i miss the 90s
You and me BOTH! Ever since the "naughties" started I swear I have been stuck in the 90s.
I'm so loving this thread BTW. Oh.. nostalga...
ALF.. Punky Brewster.. TMNT (the original movie and it being a sell out!)... New Kids On The Block... En Vogue... Computers were black screens with green type... The internet was nothing like it is now... Windows 95... Floppy floppy disks... how the floppy disk became smaller and harder... DVDs weren't even thought of or known... a 'gigabyte' wasn't even thought of or know.. roller skate rings were still around and kewl to hang out within... WWF (The Undertaker!!!)... wondering what age I would be and what the hell I would be doing in the year 2000... the tv show BEYOND 2000... the world wasn't so PC and seemed to be a safer place... the original nintendo... cassette tapes were the main way to record and buy music...
a couple of more locally orientated memories
when Sundale Shopping Centre existed... when the main Gold Coast cinema complex was located at Mermaid Beach (along the G.C. Hwy)... when Robina had nothing out there except housing... when Oxenford was mainly bush with few shops... when where I am currently am right now (Arundel) was mainly bush... when there were five houses in my street when I lived in Runaway Bay and bush which I would wander thru across the main intersecting street from my street.... when Surfers Paradise wasn't so built up... some of the nightclubs and strip clubs that existed prior to some of the nightclubs and strip clubs that exist now... Pacific Fair Shopping Centre was THE biggest best shopping centre on the whole of the Gold Coast and I used to know my way around it like the back of my hand...
a bit more personal...
when i first masturbated... when my best friend found me masturbating.. when I got my period (it HAD to happen right before I was my piano recitial.. and i was the first person to play!!)... when i took ballet and other lessons... when I grumbled, groined about having to practice half an hour religiously before and after school on my piano (now I wish i wasn't so ungrateful)... when i lost my virginity... when kissing with tongues was seriously slutty or well "full on" LOL!!!

I remember my first fight over a girl. I was in the kindergarten.
I remember crying about my first bad grade in school.
I remember when my dad was teaching me to swim by throwing me out of the boat in the middle of a pond.
I remember having to wear a school uniform back in my country. I hated it.
I remember buying my first lottery ticket ever and actually winning $30.
I don't remember the first time I masturbated, but I do remember being caught by an evil old woman (our neighbor) who threatened to tell my parents if I do that again.

I remember when text adventure games were coolZork!! I loved that game!
8tracks. I remember my first records - 45s of Joan Jett and the Black Hearts' I love rock and roll and Tommy Tutone's Jenny. My first tape was Hang on Sloopy. I remember thinking those weird flat discs at the record store were just too expensive and flimsy to actually buy. AND you had to buy a special player for them, for $300??? Heeellllllll no :O
Figuring out how to fix my old storebought tapes so I could record my new fave songs off the radio without having to buy new blank tapes.
The Apple IIe
Commodore 64s
The original Atari was the fucken coolest thing EVAR!
The skating rink was THE place to hang out on Friday nights, even for teenagers and early 20s
Ramona Quimby
You actually used the phone to TALK to people, and no one cared about how many "missed calls" they had. Missing a call was no big deal - if it's important they would call back.
Color tv was still a luxury. TV was 3 channels, maybe 4. Sooometimes 5 if you could adjust the antenna right. A clothes hanger worked great as a tv antenna (or an extension to get that 5th channel). Yelling through the window as my dad adjusted the big new outside antenna next to the house. If you couldn't be home to see a show, you just asked your friends about it later. And you had to get up off your ass to change channels or volume.
Headbangers Ball!
MTV actually played videos and ....gasp! MUSIC. It was even called "Music Television" :O
AquaNet was part of the primping kit of every female over age 11.
Spiral perms
Feathered bangs
Women with mullets were cool
Chic jeans
the original legwarmers
tight-rolled jeans
layered socks
3stripe knee socks with short shorts
original Etch a Sketch
original Lite Brite
Barbie's SuperVette
Schoolhouse Rock
Kids Incorporated
Zoom!

Wonder Woman
"right turn, Clyde!"

McDonald's was a special treat

Hahaha! I used to do this constantly! I would put electrical or duct tape over the holes at the top and that made it "recordable".
Oh and your Atari reference made me think of Q-Bert! Now that I think of it, it would make someone a cool tattoo to do that pyramid with Q-Bert on top of it.
When radios were an option in cars- And they were AM only
My Dad driving slowly down a long dirt road, and letting us sit on the tailgate of his station wagon
Individual milk bottles in school lunch
White bread and butter sandwiches

2. TELEVISION: Doogie Houser, Wonder Years, Double Dare
3. MUSIC: Amy Grant, Paula Abdul, KrisKross, (young) Mariah Carey, Gloria Estefan
4.SCHOOL: My day being summed up by either a red, yellow or green star in kindergarden, Minnie Mouse lunch box, buying my Mom the same heart-shaped key chain from the school "store" every Christmas grades kindergarden through
3rd, being the smartest girl in the class, riding the bus and my Mom seeing me off every day ('til I told her I was "So embarrassed!"-lol)
5. BOOKS: Baby-Sitters Club books (first "little sister" books i.e. Karen then "big sister" books i.e. Kristy, Claudia, Dawn, Stacey, etc.), Sweet Valley High books, Goosebumps books
6. CLOTHES: Headbands galore, socks with ruffles, Minnie Mouse bathing suits, my first bikini, jumpers, Jellies (with glitter)
7. HOLIDAYS: Getting a new bike every year (on Christmas), waiting to be a "big kid" so I'd get more money from my grandparents at Christmas, being assigned "chores" to prepare for the big family gatherings we had (though mostly it was to keep me out of the way...), being scared out of my mind to perform in the first grade Christmas play
Ok, maybe I'll come up with some more later........... :o)

In the Philadelphia area, broadcast TV always had four VHF channels and at least three UHF channels. So, not only were we getting cartoons with Schoolhouse Rock bits in between them, we had Johnny Sako and his flying robot and Ultra Man and Speed Racer.
Scooby Doo had guest stars, including Mamma Cass.
That lady on Romper Room never saw me. I'm still kind of pissed.
On Sundays, we'd have everyone get together at my grandparents' place. Us kids would watch Al Albert's Showcase, complete with the 10 second Krass Brothers ads, and marathons of Three Stooges episodes.
When unleaded gas first came out and people started using it as the analogy for decaffeinated coffee.
The first computer I ran across used a strip of paper tape with holes punched in it as the storage medium. Floppy drives were such a cooler idea.
Remember typewriters? I still have a few.
Vending machines, usually gum dispensers, still took pennies.
Rotary phones. Rotary pay phones.
Riding my bicycle everywhere.
Little League was not an "activity", it was just playing baseball.
I remember being able to fish at the reservoir.
From 1975-1985 when people didn't make convertibles any more.
Having my wooden glider plane get stuck on the roof or in a tree.
I remember when my high school didn't look like an office park.
I still don't get the appeal of lights in shoes.
I remember when Tonka Trucks were metal.
8mm home movies
Digital watches were expensive, and you'd push a button on the side to get the red LED's to light up and display the time.
