Castor oil? Red raspberry leaf tea?
I heard bad things about castor oil - it can cause the baby to be distressed and have meconium. Not to mention the things it does to mom's intestines. :O My midwife said not to do it so I'm leaving that one out.
I do have some raspberry leaf tea...hmmm....Afternoon tea and pineapple it is!
And yes, Holiday - I've been sleeping like 9 hours a night, just because I can!! We did a huge $200 grocery shopping yesterday. I am pigging out as we speak.

Hehe, nesting, are we?
Man, you're lucky to have a man who's so into the pregnancy and childbirth. I wanted to castrate so many men while I was doing my OBGYN rotation because they thought that it was "gross." Uh, I'm sure that it wasn't so gross when you blew your load into her. Also, she doesn't have a choice but to be there. IMHO, that's a pretty good sign that the man will be inattentive in the future, and will want all the desserts of parenting (Kodak moments, showing off "his boy," coming homw to a nice dinner every night) without the hard work (dirty diapers, 2 AM feedings, terrible twos, etc).

Jess is the best. He has been to all of my prenatal appointments and birth classes, reads a lot of birthing/baby books and has been working his ass off at work and at home to get ready. I am super lucky to have him and the baby is going to have an awesome daddy!! He's using his vacation time to take 2 weeks off after the birth so I won't have to do anything around the house. He's going to catch the baby and cut the cord.
I don't think I could be with one of those guys who thinks having a baby is "gross" or a "chick thing". Those dudes puzzle me. Parenting is a team effort!

You are lucky indeed to have a man that doesn't want to "wait elsewhere" and then celebrate the birth even tho' the only thing he did was contribute the sperm. Why can't more guys be involved? What is so wrong about it all? Why do they think they can't get involved when it is perfectly acceptable that they can.
Regardless, wishing you a stress free birth. I won't say painless as I havn't really heard of any birth being painless.

I totally didn't mean to threadjack! The baby was really cute and totally the type of baby Alexxa would have - sans teardrop.

I'm hoping all is well, you do have a supportive man. It is a rare bread, that stays in the room, and one rarer still that actively participates and helps with the delivery!
Hope he gets to cut the cord, I never have, I've always been in a position I could not, or the cord was in an inconvenient position.
I still remember the bruises from JCB.
They are all so cute!!
Coming Soon I am sure...
Have I told you the Coming Soon story yet? I think I've told others too much.

Thank you Mast! I hope you're right about tomorrow. That would be a perfect day for my friend to leave her kids with a sitter so she can devote her attention to being there with me. :P

Awww! Is JCB "Junior Cherry Boy"? That would be so damn cute.
And yes, do tell the story!

Bloody'ell - you shouldnt feel bad for that. I think I know the pic and I like it!
In the punk community tattoed tears are not going to be seen as a bad thing. Geezz, I cant believe anyone got upset over it.
Gang related meanings should not ever be applied to punk rock.
Now feel better! :)
The pic was a cute punk baby, photoshopped with all kinds of facial piercings. But it also had the tear tattoo under his eye, which I din't notice at first, btu even if I had, I didn't knwo it symbolized bad things.
I don't think the pic in itself was bad, it's just that on a baby, I felt bad, and just...ashamed maybe, for posting a picture of an innocent baby with bad things on it.

You can give birth without your waters breaking.
Enjoy the rest whilst you can though! :)
I didn't see the picture...oh well. I might not have wanted to if it was bad. I'm sure you meant well, Kaylinn. :)
I've given up on being apprehensive about this. I just want to go into labor already, dammit! Last night I had dreams about my water breaking and then I wake up and...nothing. :-\ I never thought I would curse dry sheets. lol
I keep having to remind myself that she isn't due until the 11th. She's not late yet. I just can't wait to see her!!
Today I will eat the rest of the pineapple. Maybe tomorrow I'll try balsamic vinegar.

Oiye, I didn't get upset! I thought it was a good pic, just felt bad for whoever probably photoshopped the teardrop in without realizing.
AGGHHH I've grown up in LA too long. :(

I'm going to try and go back at 6 weeks, yeah. I have so much debt it's not even funny. Probably just a day or two a week to start, then gradually 3 -4 days (ah, the beauty of stripping). Hopefully that works out with the breastfeeding. We'll try to get her used to a bottle around 2 weeks and have daddy feed her pumped milk while I'm away.

I don't know how I feel about giving away my baby's milk to a bunch of perverts. :-\ I have only told a few people in the bdsm scene about my pregnancy because I try to keep the two worlds separate. One of the things I am dreading when going back to the clubs is grabby customers. My boobs are gonna be huge and real...and I don't want to physically share them with a bunch of customers!
What I really wanna know is how your tattoo is doing. o.O;
It's holding up okay actually. It's the aftermath I'm curious about.

Nope. I saw the midwife again today. Not a whole lot has changed, except maybe dilating a little bit more (2cm). Tonight I will try hot wings. My aunt brought some sauce from the Anchor Bar in Buffalo.

Any day now! I'm so excited for you!
I'm really eager to hear as much as you're willing to share about home water births, since it's something I'd be very curious about when/if I have a baby. It sounds so amazing, but I have the lousiest pain tolerance and I know I'd be begging for drugs, plus I have a very narrow pelvis (like my mother, who needed 2 c-sections) and I'd be afraid of complications.
At least you're enjoying some great spicy food! In fact, I think I might get some Vietnamese takeout and drizzle it with some Sriracha. Damn, that stuff is good!
You're very lucky to have such a great and supportive partner. It seems so many women, even if they're married, are with men that are kind of disengaged from the birthing and parenting process. All the best to the three of you!

;D :grouphug:
I just have to say that I love SW. It makes me feel great to know that people here are so supportive and genuinely interested in what's going on. Thank you all!
Nina - I replied to your comment in the "birth" thread - it talks a little bit about narrow pelvises (which are supposed to run in my family too) and tearing. There is a lot of information out there about the safety (and much added benefits) of water birthing. It is actually said to relieve pain! Not only that, but it's relaxing and allows the mother to concentrate on pushing rather than trying to be comfortable in some bed with stirrups. I really can't imagine wanting to do this any other way.
I have heard so many different things about natural ways to induce labor - from pineapple juice to spicy foods to sex. Today I took a walk around Target...nothing seems to be inspiring the little one to leave the womb just yet. It is so hard to be patient! Jess has been supportive and cuddly - we are just waiting...*sigh*
I really hope she comes tomorrow though. 7-7-7 would be such a cool birthdate to have!
If not, then...we wait some more. :P

It's a a little ways off.
But 7-11-07 would be an awesome birthdate!
Whenever it's supposed to happen it will.
Most important, be healthy and happy.
I want it to be born July 12th. I have no ulterior motive.. I swear!

Raspberry leaf tea and orgasms... best labor inducer out there.
The tea works on the smooth muscles of the uterus and the orgasms trigger contractions. Worked for me! :)
