I'm also thinking about learning some dollar bill origami so I can tip with bills folded up like cranes or something.

I think I speak for all of us when I say, please don't.

It is irritating to have to unfold or uncrumple a bill only to find that its just a single. And of course, the guy thinks its cute, but in reality it is still only one dollar and not going to get you any more attention than it would if you kept it nice and flat.

^^ True. Its cute for about a minute, then it has to be unfolded to fit into the garter. If you want to make oragami, get oragami paper and bring us cranes made of that (though you could tuck a dollar in for fun :P). I appreciate the thought, but at the end of the day I have to buy groceries with crazy wrinkly money.

Even if it's a C note? :D But I get your point. I'll eschew the cute gimmicks.

Are you just talking about work or do you not use lotion at all? That's unimaginable to me because I am obsessed with moisturizing. I use about two lotions and one oil every day (but never oil at work).

just work, lol. I moisturize quite frequently outside of work...

I know this thread is a few months old but I searched it because I wanted to find something and I figured I'd add

-Alot of girls I work with are really into crystals. I just picked up citrine, it's the money crystal. Shop keepers keep it in or on their register, we keep it in our money bags.

8 thats Innana's number.shes a sumarian goddess who protects strippers and prostitutes.every time i dance i have my beaded necklace in my purse it has 8 white then 8 blue 26 times.2+6=8

Awesome!!! I love Sumerian stuff. I was always excited in history class when we'd get to the prostitutes in Rome and Geishas in Japan and stuff like that but I have never heard the Sumerian one before.

Did you know that in rome at the cat house or whatever they were called back then there would be a little plaque above your door with a little picture of your specialty? Weird.

I do know some girls who think counting money before night's end is bad.

I don't know about bad, but it can be un-motivating. I tell new girls not to count their money until the end of the night. Otherwise it becomes time consuming when you could be making more money on the floor!

I NEVER put my shoes on the counter--before or after the shift.

I also don't ever hang them on hooks in the locker. I had to retire abruptly at one point and my shoes were left hanging in limbo forever and ever without me!

Wow! Super old revival. Awesome though.

I wear citrine earrings for that reason, though. :)

The two dollar bill thing, one of the corners has to be folded. I forget which one and the shoes on the bar/counter is serious bad luck.

Counting your money before the end of the night or before your done is a huge nono too.

The pussy hair thing comes from an old bordello supersticion where every girl was suppose to go outside the front door of the house and pee. It was suppose to bring in customers.

I never say "Tonight's going to be a great night!", even if there's a hundred guys there already when I arrive, throwing money and getting dances, even if all the best dancers are in the house at once, even if it's a big holiday weekend. It's like the "break a leg" thing in plays.

I never used to be superstitious until I bought the club. Most of my superstition's are staff related.

1. I always us a green lighter nothing else. Everyone find's lighters left all over the house, the green ones always come to me. If I aint got a green lighter I get someone else to light my cigarette.

2. Lapdance tickets are in bundles of 25 and I always put 3 bundles out to start the night, got to be three and never give a draw a new bundle until they are completely out. If there's one left then sell it to get a new pack. I've seen 26 come back alot b4 I started that.

3. My strongest one is that no staff can wear a white shirt on weekends!!!! EVER!! If you wear white, someone will inevitably bleed on it, maybe you, maybe me, maybe customer.... Never do it.

4. My new goofy one is that I play solitare on my puter in the office sometimes and I play vegas style, I have to be in the black and the club will bank, if I'm in the red it sux. Girl's will come back to the office and be like ..... you better not quit now, and you better start winning.

I've heard of the shoes on the counter thing, the purse on the floor thing and the counting the money before the end of the night thing, but the rest of them are news to me..

hmm..

how about: If you wear lotion, you will have a bad night

all the girls wear body spray at my club...no one wears lotion because they are scared of having a bad night.

I dunno if wearing lotion would actually cause YOU to have a bad night, but the girl who follows your stage could most definitely have one after busting her ass! ;)

I don't know that this is a "strip club superstition," but it's something I do myself. If I have a great night, then the rubber band that I happen to be using that night (to hold my money) will become my "lucky rubber band" and I will save it and continue using it each consecutive night until I have a bad night...then I throw it away.

*If the club is dead, get every girl in the bar to pull a pussy hair, set it in an ashtray, and spritz it with every girl's perfume. Set it outside the door and you'll get customers. Some places, you put the hairs in a cocktail napkin and set it on fire. Depends on your region.

Omg, the thought of this is so ridiculous I actually loled! I can just imagine my managers face if I told him I was just gonna put this burning mess of napkin, perfume and pussy hair out on the step for luck! :O ;D

I heard the shoes on the counter one and it makes me crazy because I always want to put my shoes on the counter, but I'm so suggestible (I've used hypnosis to quit smoking, etc.) I have to resist.

My friend Dee Milo (http://www.deemilo.com), who was a stripper in the 1950s, sent me an item called a Body Balancer (http://www.body-balancer.com/) to wear when I dance. It's not exactly a good luck token, but it makes me feel loved and supported to use it.

So I have this book that someone gave me called a treasury of superstitions, and it has a bunch of superstitions, as well as the historical background for them. putting your shoes on the table isn't just stripper superstition for bad luck; the book says that the reasons shoes on the table is considered bad luck is that back in the day when they used to hang people for all sorts of reasons, the person to be hanged would be standing on a table or something like that, and then the table would be removed from under them.

I got yelled at back when I was a newbie for putting my shoes on the counter, but it was because the same counter we use to get dressed at, girls often eat on as well (with plates of course). The girl who I'd upset was about to sit down with her dinner and she saw my stinkie shoes on the counter. I understood.

Stripclub superstitions:
*If you just got your hair done, got a new outfit or new shoes, or are trying a new style of makeup, you'll feel 'fresher' and more confident and therefore make more money.
*You make the most money in the last 2 hours of your shift.
*The longer you dance, the more money you make (until you get wrinkly and saggy of course)--experience is the best hustle.
*New girls make a lot of money at first, then their money drops off for a little while becaue they're not the new girl anymore, then they either quit or really learn to hustle. If they stick with it through the dry spell, they make more money once they really learn to hustle than they did with their newbie glow.
*You make more money when you don't count it or keep track.
*Always sit with the ugliest guy in the group first. He's probably the most desperate so you have a better chance getting into his wallet than the wallets of his friends.
*Girls with straight hair do better than girls with curly hair. I only say that because so many of my curly-haired friends SWEAR they make more money when they straighten it. I think it's a pity because I LOVE curly hair and I much prefer it to straight.
*You make more money when you're on your period because guys have the primal ability to sense the blood.

Those are the ones I was 'raised on' as a newbie learning the trade.

Yeah, my friend told me that if you keep (4) 2 dollar bills in your purse, then you will attract money. Sounds like kind of an asian thing since 8's are lucky. It's worked for me so far though.

I've heard about this one and I've carried four $2 bills in my wallet ever since. 8)

But then I've also heard that $2 bills are bad luck, but I just think it's cool to get them because it's a rarity here except at one club.

The ashtray full of pubes doesn't sound like superstition; it sounds like Louisiana voodoo. I've read a couple books on that type of magic, and it's generally pretty big on bodily substances.

Paper-folding person, you can give me the C-note in any shape you like! =)

ok..I have one.
At my old club there was this mexican dancer. I can't remember how it came up, but she told me when she wanted to secure a customer and make lots of money of him, she had this little bottle that contained some of her urine and a ground up pubic hair. She would put some of it in his drink and swore it worked.

She was not playing she really did this. She also told me that there is a way to get a man to fall in love with you. She said that when you are on your periond, you have to clean yourself really well, not tell the man that you are on your period and let him go down on you. OK..then.

There was also this one girl that had an spray can of 'big money' or something like that. Her friend and she would spray it on.

To each their own I guess.

Not Louisiana Voodoo.

Louisiana Hoodoo.

Technically speaking a lot of voudoo magic is not actually sympathetic, as in it does not use similar substances. But hoodoo is very sympathetic because it is a syncretic combination of voudoo and indigenous beliefs with a large amount of european sympathetic magic thrown in to fill out the mix. Even so-called voudoo dolls are actually a hoodoo conceit taken from the sympathetic magics of early western european practices.

These are brilliant...

In NY we all had a lucky dress.. you know, you start off with a regular dress and if you're not banking you pull out the lucky one... not so interesting...

I'm surprised no one else has heard of this one:

Start the night with some money in your garter. It only has to be like $2-3... anything over $1 (not sure why). It's the same idea as the "seed dollar" left on stage.

I always started with $2 - that's the superstition as I heard it.

I also heard it with one, but it was after I heard it with 2 so I always did 2

My favorite stripper lore is no white lighters. One of the girls told me that my white lighter was bad luck and I didn't believe her. Other girls corroborated and I kept using it.

My heart was broken later that morning. Into a thousand pieces and it didn't heal for 2 years after that.

Probably just a coincidence, but I will never use a white lighter again.

$2.00 bills are popular in the clubs out here. Ever since I got one I've been using it as the top bill in my billfold. And since then my nights have been better. :O

RebeccaSolidarity -- thanks for reminding me of the terminology. I researched this stuff several years ago so it's gotten a bit cobwebby in the ol' cranium. And did I mention you're frabjously awesome?

Yeah. Stuff.
