I know some really good songs can be simply bad to dance to... examples: Disease by Matchbox 20 and Prozac(?) They're good songs and don;t really refer to a real disease... I just wouldn't want the guys getting ideas.

"Lapdance" is great for selling 2-for-1 specials. Outside of that, no, it should not be played.

I am thinking I should dance to "What's It Gonna Be".

I hate when they play Disturbed "Down with the Sickness" and don't cut it off before they get to the part when the singer says "Stop mom, your hurting me, please stop......" It's very hard to be seductive when he's talking about child abuse. Especially since he's not singing it but actually saying it in the song.
I was doing a lapdance when that part came on. I don't think the customer noticed though...

I was listening to Electric Six on the ride home tonight, and I thought of this thread. The song "Infected Girls" should never ever ever be played. It's a decent tune, but no. See the title? Yeah, it's exactly what you're probably thinking.

I'm always weirded out when someone dances to Tool songs. I love Tool, but their songs change tempos frequently and don't seem to invoke a "party" feeling; songs from "Undertow" and "Aenima" are frequetly about Maynard's sexual abuse, so when I hear "Prison Sex" or "Stinkfist" I feel strange in the club.
I saw a girl dance to "Bye bye, miss American Pie" once and it sucked ass.
I could go my entire life and be happy not to hear another Kid Rock song in a club.

^A big ass hell yea and yeehaw on the Kid Rock part, but I love dancing to Tool and lots of customers like it too, they come up and go "did you pick this out? hell yea!" But I'm thinking it's because I'm in Albuquerque and lots of rock dudes here.
Tool and APC can be extremely sexy, but you are right about those songs. And they have many many songs that are way too depressing for a sc.

Gosh Tool is played all night at my club - I love dancing to it... its very popular.
Stinkfist has a sexy groove, it works.
I think 80s hair metal needs to disappear from all venues, not just strip clubs.

They play a good remix of the soulja boy song where I work. The lyrics don't really make sense, but the beat of the remix is really good to dance to.
the closer/in the club mashup is one of my fav.'s.

Hear, hear! I love me some Tool too but my DJ had me dancing to Vicariously the other night--damn tempo changes every other meter! Right, left, no wait left again, dammit!
APC on the other hand is practically tailor made for SC if you don't get too into the lyrics (esp on 13th step).
My DJ is normally quite excellent but sometimes he pulls random ass songs from somewhere and you just gotta pray it's not for you. Sunday night he played the Cantina song from Star Wars over some techno beat. WTF? However, it gave me a great opening to talk to the nerdy guy rocking out to it and I sold quite a few dances to him once I showed my own nerd roots, so I can't be too upset.
Oh I would be the happiest girl if he never played "Going the Distance" by Cake ever again though. It drags and the lyrics just do nothing for me!

Going the Distance by Cake?! What a lame ass sc choice.
Last nite my DJ had me rollin! (not like that!) it was so dead he played whatever 50's doo-wop, 70's soul jams, I Hurt Myself Today NIN cover by Johnny Cash, original "Turn The Page" or whatever that song is that I know from Metallica, and other assorted badass shit. I love Albuquerque!

If you're looking for a way to confuse the f**k out of someone, this would be it. Mixed in with some helpful Ba-wack! sounds so you feel like you're running through the chicken coop. Love the percussion though otherwise.

"Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode. Love them too, but I don't like religious themes in my stripper music
I'll dance to the marilyn manson remake.
Re: religious themes, one of the girls at my club got a gift from another dancer-- a short sarong that had "I love Jesus" printed in small silver letters all over it. We both had a laugh that hardly any custy would notice.
I almost got her an "I love Jesus" bracelet to keep the theme going.
But then, we also crack up that she wears her grandma's pearls to work.
We're so going to hell :O

I heard "Titty Dancer" come on the sound system once. It was really obnoxious. It actually came on -twice- in one night. All about some guy bitching cause his girlfriend is a topless dancer, and then he is just going on about how she is "giving blowjobs frequently" and cheating on him and crap and then ends with him getting a threesome or something. Oh yeah, and it practically opens with him all wantin to kill her.
Greeeaaat.
It was really gross and reminded me of this thread.

hahah that song's being played constantly at my club... everyone thinks it's funny. then again, in my club, it's rather ironic.
I was listening to "brick" the other day by BFF, and decided that it was on my top five list of songs i would LOVE to dance to but because of the words and topic, simply can't. oh well. yeah... no songs about christmastime abortions.
some of serj tankian's new stuff, too... fantASTIc, melodic, but those damn words.... like "lie, lie, lie..." "broke her little bones on the boulders below...." yeah... no. and the fact that "feed us" changes those words with the word "fetus..." also no. too bad. :P

I hate most of the "songs" that are commonly played in strip clubs. When they play 'rap' that's when I seriously consider leaving. So gross! At least then have banned indoor smoking in this state.

I just heard that "Titty Dancer" song the other night... 3 times. Ew.
And I'm with everyone who's totally sick of Crazy Bitch. Add Kid Rock's "So Hot" to that list, too.
Other songs that probably shouldn't be played in strip clubs:
- King Missle - Detachable Penis
- Tenacious D - Fuck Her Gently
- Bon Jovi - Lay Your Hands On Me
And I'm sorry, while I do think "I'm In Love With A Stripper" is a cute song, I'm just generally anti T-Pain because he seems to be responsible for the latest wave of thuggy guys who think they can buy me "dranks" and I'll fuck them until they "put me to bed."

My one club used to use At a Medium Pace as our bachelor party humiliate-him-on-stage song. I loved it!
I forget the name...but that song that says "you can get this lapdance here for free"
No you FUCKING cant.
Not sure if this has been replied to need to read on, but it's Lapdance by NERD

Hmmm Dont know if someone already said this one..but "The Ballad Of Chasey Lain" By Bloodhound Gang.
"A Lapdance is so much better when the stripper is crying"... the girl really tense up at that one, i knew a girl that used to dance to it constantly...

Girls, Girls, Girls....
I think we've all heard that one too many times. I used to think it was funny bc I have worked at the dollhouse in Ft. Lauderdale, but, no
Anytime it comes on in my car I damn near crash cause my body automatically jumps up to do a t-shirt feature ;)

^^ Because girls and customers mostly want to rock out to popular stuff they know te words to. This is why it's popular music. Because for some reason, most people don't get tired of thise songs.

popular since 1985!!! whoever wrote it is awesome, but I might just walk out on my set should that POS be played.

Yes. Repeatedly. I bet most of us oldsters have. I don't remember really hearing anything but 80s rock, techno or dance music in clubs until...2000? So lots of hair metal.

Did someone already mention "Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)" by Wyclef? WHY do they play that in SCs? It's the worst timing in the worst place. Thanks!
^LOL! Yeah... I like listening to the song, but I don't think I would actually dance to it at work. Not the right message. :P
The one that irritates me is "Bartender" from T-Pain. Lots of the girls dance to it. We're fucking strippers not bartenders! Who cares about the damn bartender? It irritates me even more because I was a bartender at one time.

"My Love Don't Cost a Thing" was playing at the gas pump (yes the gas pump plays music) last night and my bf goes "could you dance this this?" I told him i could but that "my love don't cost a thing is really not the message I want to be conveying in the strip club" it made him lol and reminded me of this thread.

What's wrong with "Cherry Pie"? I used to have an outfit with a cute little cherry skirt, and I wore it with cherry earrings and danced my ass off to this song every night. It went over well, especially with the military guys. They love vintage metal.
