View Full Version : Let's have it out: Males posting in Stripping General

What I dont llike is the men who clearly have some sort of bitterness or resentment against women and esp strippers putting their rude and degrading opinions in stripping general under the transparent veil of "helpful advise".
This is how I feel as well. Lately a lot of the non-dancers that have been posting on this site have been downright degrading and then get angry when we tell them this.
Plus, Djoser has been a godsend a few times. I don't need someone on here to agree with everything we dancers think, but someone who knows just how why our perspectives are the way they are is always welcome in my book.
I personally dont mind them posting here whenever, but not ABOUT whatever. (if that makes sense?)
I dont think they should post bullshit posts, or start trouble just to mess around (ie trolls). I wouldnt care if they responded to every single post, as long as its relevant and made sense.

It's the internet!!! There will be trolls and idiots.
Indeed. There will also be participants with fake/spoofed genders (among other characteristics). I'd be really surprised if there are not some, at least fairly active and well established, SW regulars claiming to be female dancers but who are actually guys. Maybe a few the other way around too. That sort of misrepresentation is just about as old as net communities, much older than the web. They could well include some of the most active participants in the more restricted (to dancers or women only) threads and forums.
More generally, I have long found it slightly odd/confusing that SW seems to aspire to having a lot of closed/controlled forums/threads/topics but at the same time operates as a public, open-registration board. A weird combination, imo. It would be like putting large plate glass windows in dressing rooms at the pool club and then sticking a sign over them saying "Please don't look into these rooms; it's rude." Etc.

I do NOT think it should be completely forbidden, as in Ladies Only, but I do think that it should be rare, and only when it's really relevant.
I agree with you in principle, RoseWhite. The problem is that everybody thinks his input is relevant, even if in reality it is complete drivel.
If I want the guys opinions, I will go seek it out. This is a forum for dancers, not spectators.

I find this really interesting - how many guys who have posted here think that they have a unique and particularly relevant perspective? Something unusually pithy? Some advice that we really want in this thread? Anyone? Then why are you posting here? I think this is a perfect example of use your damn judgment.

Exactly Jenny, I said something like this in the first page.

SW is like a small town. Everybody knows everybody, if your a newcomer, your an outsider that needs to gain trust and respect first. I've never been part of an online community that was so close knit like SW. I think that tends to alienate people to a degree.
People have to keep in mind this is Stripperweb. for strippers. " if your not a stripper, your a guest in someone else's house." Anyone who isn't a stripper should proceed with caution everywhere. It's been said over and over that the girls deal with customers enough, they don't want the hastle of it when they come home. They just want a place to unwind and share their experiences with other girls who understand. When we want a customers input, it's asked for.

Been said once, been said a thousand times...still can't be said enough.

i'm not bothered by men posting here at all. i just think they should be respectfull, but that's what mods are for.
i also think they should be prepared to catch shit if they try to tell us how to do our jobs.

I enjoy SW a lot because it is a set of message boards where I have found the most intelligent conversation anywhere on the Internet.
I know, right? It's a little weird, huh? I mean, it doesn't surprise me that much because I always found a lot of really smart, funny chicks in the clubs. But still...it's a little uncanny how this forum is so far above any other I've encountered...you'd think there'd be lots of smart folks on the internet...but the smartest of them all seem to hang out right here.
Sorry, OT. I'm a little bit tipsy.

Gentlemen, out of this thread.
The request was for ladies' responses only. It makes no difference how you feel about this, only that you respect the initial request.
I may not have magical mod powers, but I have these really cool financial powers. Don't make me use them. They tend to cause the site to disappear for days at a time, often much longer, with fears that the site will never return, which I'm sure nobody wants.
We now return this thread to the ladies. With our most heartfelt collective apologies for being blind horses asses who have suddenly lost the ability to read and comprehend in the English language. If it becomes such a damn challenge, gentlemen, I will arrange to have it translated for you in about 135 languages. Jesus.

Umm... Punishing the rest of us for a few dudes would really, really suck.

Interesting, isn't it, that a topic about men posting in SG where it was specificially asked that men stay out of the conversation...they have had to be asked numerous times to get out of the thread...It was asked they not give their opinions but they did it anyway.
Kind of just prooves the point, doesn't it?

Not sure about posting, but voted yes, if something of interest to add. Also, got this from the web site: "Hello Seamus20cm it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums? " So, it appears web site is soliciting comments??

What, may I ask, did you have interesting to add here that is relevant to the topic? I think I missed it.

For fuck's sake! I was starting to go soft and think "Hey, well maybe I was too harsh, maybe we should just allow the guys to use their judgment".
Fucking hell, but look at this thread! Even in a thread like this they STILL aren't using their judgment because yeah fine, you could use that judgment in SG from now on, but this thread has specifically said DANCERS ONLY!!!! The problem like stated above is that every male on this site seems to think that he can wiggle himself under the request of this thread of dancers only just to get his whining 2 cents in.
We don't need your whining in here guys!
It all comes back to me now being firm on my decision. I'm OK with industry folk, but the rest of you: STAY OUT! You obviously can't even exercise good judgment or follow the rules in here, which has been demonstrated in this thread! That doesn't mean we dislike you, or that we're on a witch hunt (so stop the whining), you just don't belong in here!
Welcome to STRIPPERWEB.

What about titling the section a little more strongly like the ladies only section and moderating it stronger. It seem's from this side anyway to work well in ladies only. Of coarse I haven't been here in a while so I don't know alot of the day to day issue's currently going on in here. I do know that there needs to be some formal industry only areas to address issues without scrutiny from those outside of our working lives. I feel that was the initial intent of this site to start with. Most of the long standing " customer " member's that frequently post in the pink are a different breed of patron's, the type that know the game and respect it for what it is and are rather insightful. Just throwing that out from the vaginally disadvantaged side of the fence. For some reason I felt compelled to post this but until further notice :-X MMmmm, Mmmmm MmmMmMmmMmmm ;).

Jesus. Christ.
After men were even scolded for posting in this thread when they had originally been asked not to and told what might happen if they continued to do it, you're still doing it.
You have thus proved every point you've been trying to argue against. Not using good judgement, taking it way too personally, not respecting the wishes of the members of this section, and failing to understand the viewpoint being expressed. (because if you did understand it, you might say to yourself, "hmm yeah that makes sense, I can see why they might be less enthused to see lots of posts from non-industry related people.")
And can we please knock off the attempts at a pity party for yourselves?????
No one is about to break out the violins.
Being an enthusiastic patron of strippers does not entitle you our time outside of the club.
I cannot understand why some of the men are getting so up in arms about this that they feel the need to shoot themselves in the foot and post in this thread?
There are several other sections where you are very welcome to post. You even have a 'blue-side'. Are you really that horrified at the thought of not being able to post your more-often-than-not baseless opinions in this thread that you're gonna whine about it? Hell, it's just a preference that you refrain from posting in this section, no one said you can't READ it.
I'm sure it's a lot of fun to read the stripping general section...I love it too. I'm sure for custies it's probably like spying on a girls sleepover party or listening in on a dressing room discussion. Cool, you can listen in. The good news is you still get to read it. You just don't need to chime in that's all.
It might be wise to refrain from posting in this thread further, as it's been pointed out, you're shooting yourselves in the foot.
Nice to see we're having successful results. ::) This is like beating a dead horse, just like Bridgette said.

Oh sweetheart, I think you know that particular sentence was entirely tongue in cheek. The day I pull funding for SW will be the day I roll over and die -- no, wait, SW will be funded even when I'm gone. My lawyer put it in my will!
I was just growing bone weary with the endless selective blindness of the men posting comments in this thread, after being explicity asked not to, and quite nicely at that, and I finally had simply had enough.
BTW, if your new avatar is you, please don't ever change it again. :)

I guess I'm very skittish when it comes to the "punish all for a few" thing, it's happened to me way too often, especially when I was teeny. Sorry.
And my avatars are always me :D

We should sell Internet lapdances at this point. This place is becoming more and more like a real strip club. Complete with dressing room drama, men who peek behind the curtains and customers who demean us.
Might as well make money offa it.

44% say men can post here if it's relevant.
I wish this thread would not scare all the guys off posting here.
I know a few who are too scared to post here now and I think that's a shame.

For those who aren't aware: crazybob is a cool clubowner who just hasn't been around in a while. So don't get your feathers ruffled over him. The other guys - as was previously stated in this thread: asking them to "use their judgement" in here is NOT gonna work. Clearly.

Thank you for pointing that out, I didn't know that. But thankfully I was more referring to the other guy and previous guys. I feel bad tho if it came off that way, as I was one for industry people posting.

So where do we go from here? The results stand at:
NO! Men should never, ever post in here. Begone!: 6.72%
Men should only post in here if they work in the industry: 31.34%
Men can post occasionally as long as it's relevant: 44.78%
Sure, they can post in here as much as they want, it doesn't bother me at all: 17.16
Now, it's my doofery that resulted in us not being able to have a dancers-only poll, so we'll never know just how skewed the results are, BUT - it does seem like the commentary that has come along in the thread itself does reflect the above percentages pretty accurately.
My primary goal was simply to get the current female members here - the dancers - talking to each other about it. I don't know if there's a decision to be made or not, but I'm glad to have a better idea of how other members feel about it and why.

You know I've always said that expecting guys to use judgment was a perfectly reasonable expectation. Turns out - not so much. Seriously, all you guys - including the ones who are posting to say that they won't post anymore - are making the girls who want to give you some leeway look bad. I mean - everyone in here who might have been like "We can expect long time members to be a little reasonable about deciding where and when their input will be welcome" is now like "these guys are total douchebags" (except one poster who, albeit satirically, threatened to bring a smack down; that one we'll let go). Seriously - the existing policy should tell you that you don't belong in this thread.
Thank you to all the guys who were like "Hey I have opinions on this... that I should maybe not post there considering the subject matter".
