hey viola, shit..thursday was terrible i made like 400 or a little more and after tip out and everything walked out with 3 something....but i was trying hard so that sucks..but it's some money. i am thinking about finishing my 5 day "pledge" and needs to come in tomorrow but am feeling so discouraged from thursday... so what do you think? should i go or not?

muah muah! Wow, $300-$400 is a decent night and I used to work in Houston. Many girls nowadays aren't even hitting $100, and NO dancer makes that much every night, but some nights she may make more. Working 5 days a week at let's say $350 a night is $1750 a week, $7000 a month, over $80,000 a year. That definately is nothing to be discouraged over. And that $7000 a month may include 5-6 $100 nights. One month you may make $4000, and another $8000. You still go to work every day and accept it.

I dance full time, and to do so a dancer MUST be realistic and accept whatever money she makes each night, and go in to work each night like clockwork.

I think too many dancers are hung up on how much money they make a night, and look at dancing as a "chore" instead of a job. I recommend just putting in the 5 days a week and not worrying about how much money you make. If you are working enough, it will all average out in the end.

A dancer WILL NEVER get ahead in this job focusing on the big money all the time. It's the STEADY money that gets you ahead. You have to be at work when the money comes, and if you take more days off in a month than you work, you are probably missing out on some of the customers with more money to spend, don't you think? :O

hi tina and ladies =), thanks for your encouragement and reality check..lol. I had many of those 100 or sometime less days... I should be completely happy but last night was a close call....i made my money literally at closing time only for some odd reason the customer requested for me. and I guess i just had a higher expectation for thursdays. I will try to strive for that steady work schedule and see how things turn out in the end.

you girls are so awesome !;D

Man, this thread is good inspiration.

So many stupid things keep me from going into work...some girl was randomly bullying me last night, and I still don't know what I did wrong? And then some staff guy made a mean remark. Then when I got home, I was crying! Wtf?!

And still I made good money last night, so I know I ought to go in tonight and make more...but I'm so afraid of conflict with other girls. Goddamn I need to grow some thicker skin.

I don't know how ladies who work 4+ nights a week deal with all the peripheral job stress!

^^^You put this so well. I really needed the perspective. I just moved to a "dirtier" club where I have doubled my money, but I work half the days because I can't stand it. Perhaps I should just grunt it out.

yes, the industry can be really cold sometimes...well lots of times, lol. It's hard to find real supporters, thank goodness this website came along! Over time I've grown stronger and learned how to just flick those haters off, their coments and all. Keep your eyes on the prize....the money! finding a balance is important too.

oh i forgot to mention...the club i worked at last night (friday) got raided. Vice police came in with their ski masks and all. they took their time and surely made a show out taking along some girls with them as they leave. I really feel bad for those girls, some of them were just merely doing what everyone else was doing, like dancing too close to a custy. we have a 3 foot rule in houston for those of you who are not familiar with it, but noone really follow that rule. It was terrible, but thank goodness i made some money before that whole ordeal.

i love hair extensions! I need to get a massage this weekend and just take my mind off work. it's been tiresome but financially very rewarding. I am trying to think of what i am going to do next week for work, since we got raided last night and in addition to all those political issues surrounding the industry. I am thinking that vice police will be popping in and out the clubs more often and taking girls in for silly reasons now, until things settle down. It's giving me some anxiety. As if it's we don't have enough to worry out already.

anyways I'm still happy, those haters can't bring me down, lol}:D

I didn't go in last night. My boyfriend and I watched predator and took out my hair extensions. I dyed my hair medium ash blonde, which is pretty much light brown, and now I'm worried about my money! I'll wait a month and highlight.

I'm close to my goal, though!

A new hair color can bring in money due to the freshness factor. And you're still blonde. No matter what they say, having blonde hair, like implants, helps.

So where are you in your goal Viola?

ViolaStrings
08-25-2007, 05:27 PM
I'm at $8,140. I still have 5 possible workdays next week, so if I make $372 a night I'm there... or $465 for 4 nights!

Before taxes, but I'm meeting with an investor for the first time in a week, so hopefully we can grow that money ;D I feel so responsible - I'm paying off debt, I got health insurance for the first time in 3 years, and I have enough money saved to invest it!

Go Viola! You are so close and that is so doable! Woo-hoo!!!

What are you planning to invest in?

Then I'm going to be working consistently like this until January when school starts, then I'll be dropping from 4 or 5 nights a week to 3. My first priority is next semester's books, fees, and tuition - $9,000. Hopefully I can get some aid and loans to help out. Ideally, I need at least $3,000 in untouchable savings for my health insurance deductible in case of a major event (cancer, broken leg, appendicitis). I'd like 3 months worth of bills and expenses put away in case of said emergency - $10,000 is probably a more than safe figure. I have about $3,300 left to pay off on my credit cards, and $500 towards my violin. I figure paying off my car is pointless in light of my other needs and I should just pay as I go along, but with a little extra towards principle - $500 a month. I'm talking to someone at Charles Schwab about investing, they let you start with as little as $1,000. I need to pay my taxes - ugh - so I need to have something put aside for that. I have so much to do! It gives me incentive to go in when I'm unmotivated.

^^^^ I just have to say this. How the FUCK do other people navigate bills like the above on menial wages? No wonder everyone in the freakin world has credit card debt. It's ridiculous. Sometimes I am amazed at how much money I bring in, and then re-amazed as I watch how much goes back out.

I too am paying waaaaaay more than I need to on my car payments, and am paying as much as I possibly can on my student loans. (I still leave enough in case something happens to me or my car.) I'm banking so someone else can have it. >:( You're actually making me think: So... what if I set a high goal like you did for next month, and go on a work binge to do it... and then stick it to the man... I mean auto loan company and student loan company.

I finally moved to a club where so far, I am averaging almost to the dollar double what I did at my last club. I haven't worked there long enough to see if my earnings are going to be consistently that high, but I know this club has potential for me. Before $5000 was an unrealistic monthly goal, but I think I could swing 8 or 9 grand. Helloooo September.

And... thanks for being around on SW. You're stripping smart, and it's inspiring.

totally not. Way better to subject yourself to A LIFETIME OF ALCOHOLISM.

Sorry. I don't think you're having the DTs two weeks out from stopping -- it's something else.

Congrats, Viola. Hope you realize that you can achieve your goals in other arenas, too.
The BIG problem here is that soooo many strippers work when they need something. WHHHHY? You're supposed to go to work regularly, just like mainstream workers do. Do your parents go to work 5 days a week? Do they have a house, and money in the bank? If the water heater breaks or Roto Rooter needs to be called, don't they have money in the bank to pay for it? if a strippers car breaks down then it is time to go to work to make the repair money. if they were as responsible as mom and dad, they would have the money on hand, right?

I don't mean to be arrogant, but you are supposed to go to work everyday, and put away part of your earnings. Why is it so hard to go to work 5 days a week? It's not that big of a chore. Mainstream people do it all the time. I understand if you are in school only working 3 days, but again students need to STICK to those 3 days every week.
I am gonna print this out and read it when I am tempted to take off for no good reason!

I started dancing full time (5 shifts per week and 7 hours instead of my 3-4hours 3 times per week that I had been doin for 2 years). I write down all my earnings on a dry eraser board. I calculate totals for 7pm-10pm and from 10pm-2am and the difference over weeks and months of the extra 3 hours a day is just WOW! I also calculate everything I save in house fees from going in early (about $200 per week!). I have almost doubled my income since I decided to start treating it like a real business. I worked 19 days in July, which is soooo much more than I am used to, but i adapted really quickly. It feels weird to stay home now, but I need to recharge.

Anyways, my point is that Tina is sooo right. The only reason strippers work when they have to is bacause they can. I think if other jobs were as rules relaxed as stripping alot more people would work only when they had to.

Good job Viola !
