Oh I don't fuckign remember. I rambled on for quite a while, LOL.

I said I can't stay out late on Tuesday because I have to go to court on Wed. And I said I was scared cuase I've never been to court before. I got pulled over cause my registration was expierd, the cop said if I registered it and took the paper to the court house, there was no fine.....the court house said the cop lied, they do that all the itme, the fine is $150. I don't wanna pay it cause the cop said I didn't have to, and I don't thin kit's cool to be lied to, espicially by someone representing the law...

I was talking abou tthe show....don't remember what I said tho....

I said I couldn't wait for everyoen to get here, espicially you....

I think that might be the abridged version....

I know with my 40%, MAC is like drugstore prices! I love it! So it's definitely worth it to get the discount, even though it's a pain in the ass. MAC makeup at near drugstore prices?? Yes please!

And employees get 60% as far as I understand! That's insane!

Sep 2-8 is Restaurant Week in LV. Special menus, most are 3 course for $50.07, where a portion of the proceeds goes to the Three Square foundation, working to provide meals to the hungry in So. NV. Here's a list of participating restaurants. If you were planning a nice meal out, consider one of these and order from th Rest. Week menu.

Holy cow, thanks for posting about it DE, I'm definitely taking advantage of that, I think I'll start planning my week with the hubby now, lol!!!!!!

Oh crap! Mesa Grill is on that list too!!!!!!!! ;D :D

I'm such an ass, all I really want is Olive Garden and PF Changs! We don't have either here, so I am majorly craving breadsticks and chicken lettuce wraps.

Oh, and Auntie Anne's pretzels! Did you know they don't sell ANY pretzels at the mall in Toronto?? It's so frustrating! I'm so happy TI is attached to Fashion Show.

mmm...olive garden....

bf took me ther ea fwe weeks ago...of course I had breadsticks with alfredo. I introduced him to that little peice of heaven....we ended up eating 2 orders there, and taking 1 home! I probably had 1,000 calories in just breadsticks and sauce, not to mention my actual dinner. Fuck..that is soo good.

The 2 greatest things in life...LatinaRose has introduced me to. Lush and Olive Garden breadsticks dipped in Alfredo Sauce.

Oh come on, do you really wanna miss out on the 2 greatest things in life?? :D

Sometimes I get so full on breadsticks and alfredo sauce, I just get my entree to go. Trust me, you have not had Olive Garden breadsticks until you've had them with the alfredo sauce. Mmm, 1,000 calories all carbs and creamy sauce...let's go there on the last day, so I don't have to squeeze in to a bikini afterwards.

When our university equestrian team went to the States for competition, we always ate at the Olive Garden. You Americans just don't understand the gift you are given for chain restaurants.

Personally, I've always wanted to go to an IHOP. I've never been!

:D I worked at The Olive Garden for 2 years as a hostess and a bartender. Even after living in Italy for 4 years and experiencing real Italian cuisine, The Olive Garden is still my favorite restaurant. That should tell you something! ;) Everything is made from scratch, and the kitchen is very clean. I could probably eat there everyday, hell I practically did when I was working there with our 25% discount. ;D It's a great company, too!

LatinaRose

They've started opening IHOP's out in BC so hopefully Ontario is next! I miss them so much, maybe we can go to one in Vegas at some point.

I'm shedding a tear. And feeling a little nauseous, frankly! I saw an Olive Garden in Manhattan last week -- now, I can see eating at one in Topeka or Peoria, but in New York City? Tragic.

As for chain restaurants, give me a Tim Horton's anyday over IHOP.

It's comforting for the tourists. The sameness of McDonald's pretty much no matter where you go, but "classier". There's a Pizzeria Uno several blocks from me too, which I think is a travesty since NYC is full of great mom 'n pop pizza joints. But what are you gonna do, right?

That being said, I do have some fond IHOP memories. Good times, good times...

Ever since I was introduced to the Macaroni Grill I can't bear to go to Olive Garden! I don't know how I ever lived without their toasted warm bread and balsamic!!!! They ruined Olive Garden for me for good but I could really care less as long as they never go out of business, lol!!

The Olive Garden? Oh God Almighty, I beseech thee with all my spiritual strength and energy, save us all from poor US knock-offs of real Italian cuisine, where the experience transcends anything else you may have yet experienced in life, and for that very reason is so very important to discover, honor and, ultimately, to surrender yourself to, body and soul, for once it happens, once you experience it, once it crosses your lips, you will never, ever forget it, not for a single second, not for the slightest bare instant, never even able to push it out of your mind, not for a single moment, because it overwhelms you in waves of pleasure and sensuality and intense sensory overload that you can find no escape from, not now, not tomorrow, not ever.

As the incomparable Nicolina explained it in another thread:

5. He understands the primal power of mate feeding, knows that your secret dream is to ditch biology and get a culinary degree in Hyde Park or Paris or Tuscany, and goes to great lengths to indulge your wildest epicurian and oenological fantasies. He feeds you ten-course tasting menus at some of the most serious restaurants on the planet, where each thing out of the kitchen is more impressive than the last: osetra caviar with freshly-made blini and a creamy cauliflower mousse (sounds strange but tastes insanely delicious)… escargots in garlic custard…softshell crab with corn veloute…veal steak and sweetbreads in chanterelle sauce...raspberry vacherin…chocolate-nutella souffles…He feeds you thick Niman ranch steaks at Vongerichten’s steakhouses…He gives you your first taste of foie gras, and skate in a white wine-caviar sauce, at Scott Bryan’s Veritas [anyone who has read Kitchen Confidential will understand the meaning of this for a chef groupie]…He blows your mind with last-minute reservations at Piero Selvaggio’s Valentino, where you have what is quite simply the best meal of your life: Culatello, “the King of Prosciutto”, with parmigiano-reggiano crackers & some kind of crazy Italian candied fruit; pasta with fresh white truffles; and then, the best-tasting thing you have ever put in your mouth: beet-and-potato gnocchi, lightly glazed in a butternut squash sauce so delicate and perfect that you seriously consider licking every last bit out of the bowl (it sounds so simple, but the deliciousness is impossible to describe), plus a buttery-soft filet mignon in a lovely rich sauce that, despite its fabulousness, is forever overshadowed by the memory of those exquisite little gnocchi…and with it all, a fine prosecco to start, and then a 1971 Barolo that opens up beautifully throughout the meal….Of course, everything is made more delicious by the sweet & devout & undivided affection of the Man, not to mention the fact that you are still basking in the sublime afterglow of your very first full-on, soul-shaking, mind-bending, body-wrenching, sheet-soaking true g-spot orgasm, achieved during a particularly dirty little roleplay scenario just hours before....

[Well, OK, the sex may have had a small measure in it. But let's stick with REAL Italian food, OK?]

Farrah, the place is Mary's Pizza Shack. But I must confess my pesto experience is limited, so I don't know how it would hold up to a true pesto lover. But with warm breadsticks, it's a pretty good combo.

And it's really not fair to put Olive Garden up against a place like Valentino's. LR if there's something there you like, that is reason enough to go. There is a Maggiano's at Fashion Show, but I've never been. Never been to OG either. Well, at least not the restaurant by those initials.

But Fiamma is on the Rest. Week list and some menus are posted if you click on the name. It appears to include wine at Fiamma. Nobhill is really good, too. We have ressies for Fri.

All sex talk aside, the mention of a fabulous Barolo was what really did it for me here. :) Fellow foodies unite and revolt!!!!!

That being said, truffle season is almost here (and I don't mean the chocolate ones you buy from Godiva at the mall) and I'm hoping that Picholine does its annual truffle tasting menu. I swear, you get high just walking in the place with the smell of white truffles (the real thing, not that bullshit white truffle oil) permeating the air.

So, uh, back to Vegas? I had the world's most decadent midnight snack there with a girlfriend after seeing the Police play there in June. We went to Petrossian at Bellagio and had Kobe tuna tartare, some excellent whiskey, champagne and some osetra caviar.

Valentino in Vegas in nice, but I've always had a soft spot for Alex at the Wynn. Just all-around spectacular.

And Waffle House makes good hash browns too! ;D

The original is in Sonoma. Most are spread throughout Sonoma County, but there's one in Napa, and a few scattered in Solano, Contra Costa, and Marin counties. Doubt they are worth a drive for, though.

And speaking of breakfast joints and Vegas, anyone familiar with the Peppermill or Hash House A Go Go?

mollyzmoon

I never eat Italian anymore because my boyfriend is like anorexic or something, and refuses to eat 'heavy meals'. But Ethiopian cuisine is pretty amazing.

And yeah, I couldn't live without Tim Horton's. I take that place so for granted.

Farrah_Holiday

I'm in the Bay Area so a drive to Marin isn't too bad.

Yeah, the Peppermill was 1 of our favorite spots to got to when I lived in Reno..
There is one in Daly City too. Never heard of Hash House A Go Go, sounds interesting..I think a google search is in order..

LR, we need to add breakfast/ brunch to our list of things to do.

Yeah, pasta is really heavy on my stomach since I've changed my diet..But, I love, love, love Ethiopian food. Luckly the Bay Area has quite a few good ones. I know just the spot I'm going to for lunch today..;D

It's funny I 1st went there over the weekend and the waitresses were all staring at me..I'm used to this as they were probably trying to figure out my race..I politely stared right back at them like bring me my damn menu already ! It was hilarious, when the waitress finally got to my table all she could was say was "sorry" I just laughed and told her don't worry about it.

One of my great grandfathers was Ethiopian and my features favor that part of my lineage..Minus the beautiful deep skin tone.

LR, we need to add breakfast/ brunch to our list of things to do.

I don't want to plan everything out to the nth degree. I still want people to have free time to do the things they want, or if someone wants to go out with their man, etc. We can grab a breakfast/brunch together one of the days definitely, but I don't think it's necessary to plan every single meal/activity for all of us to do together. We can split up into little groups here and there for dinners or smaller activities, I just think it will be easier that way.

Maybe Friday before everyone leaves...I just hate getting up!

Oh and just to clarify, the only reason I'm going to Vegas and looking forward to Olive Garden is because WE DON'T HAVE THEM HERE! I love food, I love amazing restaurants, don't get me wrong. For those that aren't checking the yahoo group so much...I was wondering if anyone else wants to do a group airbrush tan. At 4 people, it's $25/person, I'm sure the more people we get to do it, the cheaper it will be. This price is her coming to us.

I want to do this Wednesday afternoon (4pm-ish? so we can tan at the pool all day, then get airbrushed afterwards?), then we can enjoy our tans the whole time we are there.

So if you're not checking the Yahoo group and want to do this, let me know. Like I said the more people, the less it'll cost. We already have 4, so the most it will be is $25 (plus tip).

As long as you're not working that night you should be fine. I like to be really tan when I work in Vegas for some reason. You'll see when you get there. What color is your skin tone? She said she can adjust it to a variety of skin tones.

LOL! No wonder you're aching to tan, LR! :D I'd probably feel the same way if I were in Toronto right now.

I'm half asian and white, so my skin-tone is weird. It's an olive-yellowish-pale tone. My MAC color for foundation is NC25. I don't want to have to change makeup shades either if I get a tan. I'm already worried about laying out by a pool and getting too dark. I'll be layering the sunblock on like cake frosting. :P
