I'm such a history dork and I happen to love old school electro, this article brought back all kinds of memories. I'm sorta old tho so that might explain it.

Wow, fascinating read!

I had no idea Debbie Deb was FL-based, and that jam was '83! I didn't catch heat of it til.... '86-'87 or so... and out in San Jose, CA... her two smash jams were practically the ANTHEMS of San Jose in that era (Hot 97.7 FM out here was the first station that played the "freestyle"/"hi-energy" genre -- never quite equated with booty-bass, since I was growing up thinking it was the latter, not the former)

Gotta' love the 808 kicks!
