^^Nope! We had a lovely dinner there. I can recommend the fabulous Arroz Con Pollo. Best approach? 1. Order Paella or the above, both of which need to allow for extra time. 2. Order mucho tapas, thinking they will "hold you over". 3. Be too stuffed to take more than a few bites of entree. 4. Voila! Lunch tomorrow. Delicioso.

Scrubs over mutual left over Columbia eats. Life is good, no? Soon to get better, yes?

Katsu-ya - Studio City - brilliant sushi specials
Beacon - Culver City - small menu but each item is wonderfully delicious
El Gaucho - Seattle - amazing steak in a lounge like setting
Trumps - Palos Verdes - Donald Trump style opulence and dining experience
Saluzzi - Palos Verdes - Old New York style Italian
Arroyo Chophouse - Pasadena - wonderful service and steaks
Saladang - Pasadena - the best Thai in Los Angeles in my opinion
La Serenata de Garibaldi - East Los Angeles - Like being in Mexico City
Chez Melange - Redondo Beach - consistency with service and food quality
Casa Bianca Pizza Pie - Eagle Rock - best pizza in Los Angeles

Simpatico, located on the southeast corner of Richmond and Chimney Rock in Houston gets my nod. An unassuming exterior gives way to an immediate sense of elegance just inside the door, as if the world is suddenly different and better.
The waiterstaff attend to every need in that smooth, quiet way that seems to have a flourish element added to the smallest of movements. Each week's menu is unique and varied. The breads are perfect. My taste buds still tingle.
And even tho I arrived unannounced, in steel-toed boots and in regular work clothes, and even tho everyone else was dressed in finery -including the two lusciously gorgeous women at the small bar tapping martini glasses- I was treated with respect and met with only the look of surprise.
Great ambience. First class service. Absolutely savory and delicious tasting foods. Expensive.
