but thats your opinion. obviously other people didnt think that kanye deserves these awards. im not trying to fight with you, im just saying. you think he deserves an award, other people dont.

/:O I NEVER said Kanye deserved an award, or that I think he deserved an award. Please don't misquote me Britt.

And I was asking Farrah in jest, (or anybody who cared to answer), what movie did Halle Berry deserve an Oscar for, before the one she actually received, for Monster's Ball.

I'm really curious about what movie she/people think Halle "shined" in is all.

Jayda, the point was not how much she deserved the award, but that she never complained or acted like a spoiled little bitch. Why are you defending Kanye so much? I think he's extremely talented and was also surprised that he didn't win anything, but his reaction, attitude, and overall egomania makes me happy he got stiffed. Who wants to honor someone when they have an attitude like that?

i 100% agree with that. it's his behavior that could be costing him awards.

Don't tell me what the point was, I know what the "point" of FH's post was. I said "sidebar". As I just stated, I'm asking her a question about her post's reference to Halle Berry having to wait a long time for a damn Oscar! Obviously FH thinks she may have deserved one earlier in her career, I am simply asking for which film.

If I am "defending" Kanye, its because its really irritating when certain people are quick to judge, not knowing the facts...they hear one damn thing.....and start thinking "typical" due to his reputation.

Look at this thread, I've never once said his behavior was appropriate, but that doesn't make it okay for people to post untruths.

Like you just said above, "he got stiffed". You, among others, seem to think that's okay because he has a piss-poor attitude. I don't.

Yes, a certain level of decorum should be had by an entertainer, especially when speaking in the"mainstream public".

All I'm saying is I feel his pain, half these people calling him an asshole, and spoiled don't know shit about him, yet are quick to profess their distain.......actin 'like they played dodge-ball with the man in elementary school!.::)

I'm tired of people being so quick to "hate" what they don't understand., and don't care to understand!

I agree that he would have been a better choice to open the show than Brittany Spears, if not him, someone who's actually "doing something" in the music business these days!

Kanye who?

come on now, he did this same stunt last year at the European MTV awards (see my previous post)... once is one thing, but twice? and how the hell did he get on stage. He just shouldn't be invited to these shows if he can't behave himself like the rest ogf the audience..
He isn't the only one that would have liked to win an award, but he's the only one that decided to be rude about it. Check out what he did to the ones who won in Europe, now THAT is rude. He should atleast treat the other artists with respect.

I like his music. I do think he's a bit full of himself but most of those entertainers are. He seemed to do a lot of actual performing at the awards party which impressed me because I saw him live last summer & he went backstage for a while after every song.

The thing with Kanye that I find curious is (and maybe this is more an indictment of rap/hip-hop, so stay with me here)...

I grew up in an era when rap was the mouthpiece for the overlooked people in the inner city, etc. It was all about being anti-establishment (Fight the Power, Fuck Tha Police, etc.) and sticking it to the man. They'd be like, "Screw the Grammys. Critics don't know jack, anyway!"

Nowadays, you got rappers BEGGING to be loved. "Why didn't you vote for meeeeeeeeee?" "Buy my album or you'll never hear from me again! I'll hold my breath til I turn blue in the face!" "This time I meeeeeeeeeean it!"

I find it to be sheer irony (and sad too, considering I truly do love hip-hop/rap) that rappers have to beg to stay relevant when they used to just take a militant stance and you just LISTENED to what they had to say because they had such a powerful, crazy message.

So yeah... I don't blame Ye for bitching (he's entitled to his opinion, even though it's usually WRONG WRONG WRONG)... The fact he's bitching for acceptance is just goofy.

I mean, if he really DOES have the #1 album in the country, why the hell is he so mad?

Winning and/or losing a Grammy is one thing.

But a fucking VMA? Geez... VMAs are as meaningless as a marriage to J-Lo. Doesn't he GET that?

Why don't they make Kanye his own special award so he'll shut up. (That's what my mom said lol)

Jayda, sorry I misread your post.

You'd think for someone who has been blessed with raw natural talent and ability, seamingly endless riches, not to mention the fact that he survived a near fatal car accident before accomplishing all this, would sound a little more grateful and not be such a baby. I know not all agree with me, but I think most are disappointed in his behavior.

I wonder if he's a Leo the way he craves attention.

Funny, I used to think the same thing about him ! His birthday is actually in June..

Just wanted to add that I'm a Leo .;)

Okay, sidebar, When exactly did Halle Berry deserve an Oscar before Monster's Ball?/:O (and her deserving the one for that movie's still debatable imho).

Well first of all she deserved one for being so god damn HOT !! ;D

Seriously though most of her work has been fluff and I really didn't like her role in Monster's Ball, her "make me feel good" line made me want to jump out of my skin..But she did a marvelous job w/ what was the name of that damn movie..Wait I gotta search for it..Damn, I can't find the name but, it was ..Uh,it was the Dorothy Dandridge one..She was amazing.

She does have a wonderful presence about her and really shines in movies, although I can only think of that one ( at the moment) thats oscar worthy.

PE, Paris, NWA, The DOC and those other dudes in NYC who used to say "to the East my brothers" damn, I can't remember their names, they had a chick named Isis that was in their group..Anyway rap was so political back then that no real rapper gave a shit about awards..Hmm, come to think of it wasn't RunDMC the first rap group to win something ??

X-Clan! "To the East my brothers, to the East." Fire & Earth (100% Natural)

As far as accolades... IIRC, it was DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince who got the first Grammy for rap? "Parents Just Don't Understand"

(Ed. note - Indeed, I'm right. 1988 was the first year ever for a Rap Award in the Grammys.)

If it's any indication, I was just at Target and judging by their cd racks of new releases, Kanye seemed to be outselling 50 by about 3 to 1. A purely unscientific observation, of course.

I swear, Kayne should start a new genre of music from blending his rap and emo by singing beats about slitting his wrists.

D-listed has his diatribe, which was even more pathetic than I had imagined:

On another note, the Tommy Lee story is hi-larious.

O/T, I think Kanye's hot. He does kinda bug me, so I'll just ball gag him.

I'd love to have him and Jake Gyllenhaal at the same time, for some odd reason.

Back to the topic at hand...
