I do it all at home, right down to my lipstick. For one simple reason: Less time spent in the dressing room. I don't like to be back there for longer than it takes to get dressed and lock my things up. 5 minutes max. I usually don't see the inside of the DR again until the end of the night.
I have found that the more time I have spent in the dressing room the more drama and confrontations can happen.
Also, I have noticed that the girls that get there and spend an hour in the DR getting ready are always the ones either creating drama or being involved in it.

^^^^so right. I hate when girls use my stuff or ask to use it.

Tru. that's another thing. I used to do myself up at the club and stopped for all these reasons. mainly cause like I said it's a drama factory back there when there are too many women, but also I hate when someone will ask to borrow something personal like deoderant or lipstick/lipgloss. then when i say no everyone thinks i am a bitch. sorry, i don't want someone elses pits on my deoderant and i don't want your mouth on my lipstick. i don't know you!

I do all my makeup and hair at home. My club doesn't really offer a quiet atmosphere to do your makeup. I always feel strange standing next to a girl that's modeling 40 poses in the mirror while talking about her latest tuck. There's no smoking or anything at work, but the shit talking and bantering is too much for me.
The lights in the dressing room...blaring! I don't get that, considering we work in the dark. I rather stay at home in my dark room with a pale light fixing my face.
We have to use the makeup artist at work though, so regardless in the end I'm sitting on a chair begging someone for 10 bucks not to screw up the look I'm aiming for under blaring lights.

I am curious as to what your opinions are about applying your makeup and/or hair at home versus the club.
I do mine at work, but then again I leave the gym to drop the kiddo off at the sitter's then got to work.

Unless I'm going to curl my hair, I do everything at the club. This brings up a good point though. I do tend to sit around and talk with other girls too much. Maybe I should change that.

I usually just do my makeup at home. I feel like I'm missing out on hustle opportunities if I do my makeup when I'm already at work, and it's no fun if the dressing room is crowded or if scary drama girls are running amok.
However, I tend to do my makeup DARKER from home, and lighter from the club. Generally the club-done makeup looks better and more natural in real lighting (ironic huh?).

Depending on the day and what my schedule looks like, sometimes I'll even get DRESSED at home! In my club, your arrival time is the time you FINISHED dressing and got on the floor, and our house fees go up after every hour. Plus, we HAVE to be there by 9 PM or they won't let us work. So if my fiance gets off work at 7:30, then I know he won't be home until about 8 and I won't be to work until about 8:15, so I need to be dressed and ready to go. So I do my full make-up, my hair (which I never do that much to), and then put my outfit on (with my boots) and cover the outfit with an ankle-length, long-sleeved, ultra-conservative dress. Then I waltz into the DR, throw my stuff in my locker, pull off my dress, and I'm ready to hit the floor. The other girls always tease me about coming to work fully dressed, though.

I do my hair at home and my makeup at work. I like to use that first early hour to get ready. And I don't have a problem with girls using my makeup because I tell them no. I never feel bad about that.

I always do my hair and makeup at home (except for a quick eyeliner and lipstick touch-up in the dressing room) unless I'm running late. I prefer to do it at home because it's more relaxing and I can put some music on and not be rushed or distracted by all the dancers chattering around me. Plus occasionally there's some weirdo girl in the dressing room who sits and stares at me while I"m getting ready-I hate that.

Yes!
That weirdo girl is the one that always turns into my 1# hater. When I first started working at my new club, I was touching up my makeup one night before going into VIP, and there she was, just staring. The staring turned into harassment and insults and me having to report her to management.

When I danced, I did my makeup at home. I didn't like dragging my entire kit with me to and from, b/c there were a tons of girls where I worked and not a lot of room. Everyone's stuff was all jumbled up and it sketched me out about girls stealing.
I preferred to have a glass of wine, sit on my counter like I always do, and put it on in peace lol. I hated being in the dressing room, I always felt like I was being stared at by EVERYONE! (I guess every new girl feels that way lol).
My hair I always did at home b/c I have a lot of it and it takes more than a hour to blow dry straight then straighten or curl.

I always did mine at home. At work, it was too easy to get distracted and I hate when girls ask to borrow makeup. If I do it at home, I can walk right in, change, and be on the floor while everyone else is still dicking around.
Yup, girls asking to borrow my makeup is a major peeve of mine! I have a fabulous collection of professional cosmetics (mostly MAC, just cuz I get alot of it for free) and I loathe sharing them. On my clients I do makeup for, that's one thing. But random bitches in the dressing room, no. I'm a stingy, self-spoiled only child. :P

Couldn't you just say, "Sorry, I don't like to share makeup. I have really sensitive skin," or something like that? That's what I do and I hardly ever get anyone asking me to use my stuff. I won't even let bitches use my hairspray or anything. If its a friend, ok, but random girls? Hell no. I never feel bad about that.

Im going to start doing it at home. I have a makeup mirror that has all sorts of different lighting features (office, home, night, dim) I think it will look better than the shitty lights at the club. I do my hair there usually. We have to arrive 30 minutes before open, so Im no affected with loosing floor time.

hmmm... well, I have a 20 mile ride to work... so, other than eye makeup, doing full face + hair is absolutely pointless as it'll get ruined by the helmet. However, walking into the club in full leathers usually makes enough of an impression as it is. ;D

i want one of those! *pouts* then i would actually do my makeup at home! lol my club is small and theft isnt too big of an issue but it would be nice to have that extra hour to possibly hustle a little earlier. Club's pretty dead the first hour, but even if i only manage 20 or 40 dollars that first painfully slow hour it would probably get me in the mood to up my hustle huh?

I just say no, because I don't consider it very sanitary. They drop it after that. They may cop a little tude, but whatever.
