BrunetteGoddess I finally know who you are now! I was about to PM you about the new screen name.
Okay. I'm in too. I'm terrible terrible terrible about sticking to something, so this is as much about commitment for me as getting in shape. I'm not going to post weight or measurements cause that's not even important to me, I just want to be healthier.
So, starting October 1st, I'm cutting sweets from my diet and any crappy fried food. I won't go so far as to say all sugar, because I tried that once and that shit is everywhere.
I'm going to work out at least twice a week. This sounds like nothing, but I've been slacking so hard lately, that this will be a huge accomplishment.
I'm going to s t r e t c h every day. I'm so tight I can hardly do a back bend.
I'm going to do my ass and thigh workout video every day. i need to tighten that shit up.
Okay. That's the plan.

And I'm always hungry. How the eff do I lose weight when I'm always hungry?
That starts to go away after regulating your blood sugar and hunger level with proper eating. Plus, working out makes me and most people more hungry. So that super hungry feeling goes away soon. For me, it took about 2 weeks from going to super binge eating whatever I wanted to eating healthy every 2-3 hours.
***Further, I really hope we can keep this a healthy weight loss thread so we can support each other to reach our goals in a healthy way. Are we all in favor of that? Like no fad diets, no crash diets, no ed suggestions (not like theres too much of that) and only promoting healthy ways of living.

Seriously! Some of the things you girls are doing are really unhealthy! Obsessing over poundage when it's only been a few days!!?? I sense some serious binge eating ahead along with even more weight gain. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! There's nothing wrong with trying to eat healthy and exercise...but try to be realistic and educate yourselves a little bit more if you don't really know what it is you're doing.

Does anyone find that it's easier to go to the gym when you look pretty good? On days that I look thinner and prettier, I want to go to the gym because I feel like I'm so close to my goal. On days when I'm bloated and heavy-looking, I just want to lie around and eat, I guess because I feel like the gym won't make any difference. It's a weird paradox.

^^I don't even want to go to the gym b/c I feel like I don't have any cute workout gear :O I need to get some outfits from bebe sport or something, but they are SO expensive here! Anyway, I find the gym or pilates classes really intimidating for some reason. I wish I had a friend to go with.

I love it when the hot gay men stare at me when I use the bench press. Makes me feel like wonder woman. If you can hire a trainer for a few sessions or have a friend who knows about how to navigate the weight machines show you how stuff works so you can do it well. No need to be cute at the gym - everyone is doing the same thing.
^Yeah but this LR we're talking about. :P

omg I agree! Not only that, it's easier for me if I'm in better shape. I've stopped using the treadmill at school because last time there was some 19 year old world class athlete right next to me probably on his 7th mile. It sounded like "thud, thud, thud, thud" Here I am: "tink, tink, tink, tink" huffing and puffing and pushing myself way more than I normally would. It sucked! :-[ Now I just use the bike but I miss the treadmill! I should try to find a time when not many students are in there.

Latina it works for me. I am all excited now. I am starting a seperate pile on my clothing rack for my workout gear now.
I am thinking of joining a gym for the classes and personal trainer, but i really hate treadmills and stuff so i wont even attempt them anymore.

^ haha, i say that allllllll the time. it doesnt work for me!
i'm the same way about the gym. i dont like going unless i look good! but i guess that kinda defeats the purpose.. oh well, i work out in my own living room anyway.
i should work out right now. its the first day i havent felt too sick in almost a week. im afraid it will start a coughing fit if i do though.

Height: 5'3"
Weight: around 130
Measurements: 36B-29-35
Goal: I'd like to lose 10 lbs.
Over the last 3 days I've watched my diet carefully.
MON
I did 60 45 minutes cardio (treadmill on a steep incline) and 30 min. weight training.
TUES
60 min. pilates with 30 minutes cardio.
WED
60 minutes pilates and 30 min cardio
THURS tomorrow I'd like to do 45 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training.
FRIDAY
30 minute Abs class before work.
SAT
40 min cardio
SUN
Play with my son. (Day off from gym).
I really like my routine and it works well with my schedule. :) AND I LOVE PILATES!!!
OK. I am stoked! I measured myself and now I am at...
MEASUREMENTS: 34.5-28-33.5, down from 36-29-35.
I take Tonalin too, so I think that is going to help more with inches lost rather than actual weight lost.
I don't have a scale, but I am weighing myself in on Tuesday.
I worked out for 6 days in a row, doing at least 30-45min of cardio AND either weight training, pilates, or abdonminal class per day.
And I have been VERY careful with what I eat. A typical day has been like this:
BREAKFAST: Acai energy bowl-acai blended with soymilk topped with mangoes, strawberries, bananas and hemp granola.
LUNCH: Veggie sandwich (spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, sprouts, cheese and pesto on wheat bread)
LATE AFTERNOON SNACK sugar free energy bar, or a fruit smoothie
DINNER: Veggie burger, salad, something light
And lots of water or if I am hungry I have a hot drink like green tea. So I'm not starving myself or anything, just eating 4 servings of really healthy food a day and absolutely no junk.
I feel so happy and healthy and I'm going to continue and post more results in a few days. My inches lost have been really encouraging. And I absolutely love my gym.
When I reach my goal I am treating myself to highlights/lowlights and a cute pair of Paige jeans. And maybe some VS PINK stuff. And a new purse.

I am so in-this will be the kick in the butt that I need in order to get me working out on a regular basis and eating healthier. I have always enjoyed working out, but eating properly has always been a struggle for me. I love my pizza, ice cream, and beer too much. :D
Right now I am 5'4" and (gulp) 148 lbs. I'd like to get down to 130-135 ish and tone my tummy. My belly has always been my problem area, and I'd like to get a six pack (or close to it) instead of the beer gut I currently have.
I am going to focus more on losing inches instead of pounds. I am at my friend's house right now and do not have access to a tape measure at the moment, but I'll take my measurements when I get home.
I plan to do 30-45 minutes of cardio (walking on the treadmill is my favorite exercise-I've tried elliptical machines, but they tire me out too fast) 5 days a week and weight training and stomach exercises 3 days a week. I also plan to eat 5-6 small meals each day consisting mostly of lean protein, fruits and veggies, and whole grains. Of course, I will treat myself to small helpings of my favorite foods (chips and salsa, pizza, or ice cream) once or twice a week-I'm only human. :D

I cheated I had pizza tonight.

well, the prob with that is you can't eat JUST fruit, no matter what it is. you need 6-11 (i think?) servings of grains, and you need protein.. eating a lot of fruit just to get that in there isn't healthy.
agreed on the protien part especially. One way I like to add extra protien is to make strawberry, banana and chocolate soymile smoothies in the blender.
another yummy way to add some whole grain and protien is to put a little organic peanut butter on a whole grain waffle (rather than syrup and stuff) as part of my breakfast.

OMG! I just had one a those!!

I <3 pumpkin smoothies! Where can I try one of these? I've never heard of Odwalla's.
Latina rose,
Don't be intimidated by the exercise classes! When I started doing the gym a couple years ago, I was intimidated too...because everyone's so up close in the classes...and gasp there might be partner exercises lol. But after a while you'll get used to it, you won't have a second thought about it.
I find when I wear workout clothes that are too tight, then I feel uncomfortable from the men staring. Wear something good, not overly baggy (or else you'll feel like you're stuck in a tangled parachute lol)...Just go to a sporting goods store...or a Danskin or other store...Target and Walmart have workout clothes too, get some decent sneakers, and you'll be ready to go. Bring your cd player/mp3 player, and just do your own thing. If you can go early in the morning, when the crowd might be smaller, then you can get more comfy at the gym without getting intimidated by the after work crowd. Maybe there's a free personal trainer session? Do one session, have him/her show you all the important machines or give you a tour...etc.
really, the classes can be the best!! Make the time go by so fast. Just don't get intimidated!

Check the store's refrigerator section. I first discovered mine at the Union on campus. The Odwalla distributor just happened to be there and suggested it to me! *giggle* :flirt:
Thanks LSM! I can get one right across the street from where I live! ;)

Haha that's funny you should say that. I watched that show while on the treadmill last week and it was the episode where that blonde MILF walked into the salon with her 2 kids and she wanted a spray tan for a Playboy Mansion party she was attending that night. I took a look at her and thought "Dammit if that bitch with 2 kids can look that hot then so can I!!!" And I hopped off of the treadmill and went straight for the weight machines.
I always watch E! on the treadmill. The pretty people motivate and inspire me.

Alright, y'all. I'm gonna take a picture in those damn shorts I got. It's been one week since we all started, so let's see where we all are. Pics and statsssssss

09-24-2007, 07:00 AM
Weight: 135.8 (down 0.2)
Body fat: 25.5% (went up 0.3)
Measurements (didn't take previously)
Waist (taken at belly button): 28.5 inches
Hips: 39 inches
Pic in booty shorts that I really want to fit in by December (don't worry, this is not the way I'd normally wear em):
http://a701.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/95/l_0bcef2935f4a911ce7dbff0187ab541c.jpg
Overall feelings: Well, though I lost a little bit of weight, (I was 133 lbs on my bday I SWEAR!) I think I look MUCH worse. It is probably the ill fitting shorts, though. My stomach is getting flatter, which is awesome, but I still have those damn icky love handles that I'm dying to get rid of!
Anyway, after this post I know I have got to go get on that treadmill and hit the weights LIKE NOW. So, I'm off to go and do that.
ps- I am not sucking in or trying to take that picture I posted from a flattering angle at ALL, but I would've liked to think I looked better than that. UGH, the misery that is life! Alright, less whicing more working out. Later days, y'all.

OKay, so it's been a week.
On 9/17, my stats were:
Weight: 150.2
Measurements: 36-28-40
Weaknesses: Soda, eating out, fast food
Today, my stats are:
Weight: 147 (YAY!)
Measurements: 35.5-27-40
My goal is to be under 130, or, because I am doing so much weights and cant really go by the scale, to fit back into my size 4 jeans.
I made subtle, but effective, diet changes diet. I didn't do anything drastic, I just cut out regular soda, fast food, and excessive eating out (When I did go, I ordered a healthy option, grilled chicken, and cut it in half to be boxed up before I even started eating). I tried to eat more fruits/veggies too.
One of my personal goals was to do a half hour of cardio at least 5 days a week. I do martial arts, so I did karate Monday, Tuesday, Friday for an hour each time. I walked for forty minutes on Wednesday and Thursday, so yay!
I also did weights, using 5-12 lb dumbbells, three days a week.
This week my goal is to add in a ab routine three days a week, and stretching extensively 3 days a week.

has anyone heard of "flirtygirl fitness"? I just did a workout of theirs, called 'booty beat'. I think it'd be fun for a lot of you who love to dance but don'r want to workout. it was a very cardio workout, and had quite a few "stripper" moves in it! Then there was a 'just teasing', a striptease dance that was fun, and sexy. And there was a 'chair dance', also very sexy.
there was a 7 minure preview on demand of each of them.....
I'm thinking about odering them, they were fun sexy workouts that look like they'll tone and burn calories, but also be sexy for work an play!
I was wondering if anyone has tried them? and I think this might be the ideal workout for some of us sw'ers. I'm going to get the first option listed...

omg. my measurements....
35-28.5-35
so I'd like my waist to be anywhere from 24'' to 26''
I don't care too much what my hips/bust are at.
I'm going to remeasure in 2 weeks.

Okay-update:
My plan: Two classes a week, Pilates video once a week,-only did one class :( Working on a new pole spin though, so that's a leetle smidge of exercise thrown in.
more than one serving of veggies a day,-Well, I managed two servings on two days. It's a start. The boy and I ate out twice and I got a salad before each. And I bought some bag salad for this week.
64 oz of water a day. -I think I did pretty well on this one. I didn't count, but I've been just refilling and refilling.
Not a great start, but it's been a hard week. Since the boy is leavng tomorrow I'll have nothing to do but sit around and drive myself crazy on weekends-so more exercise. Possibly more work too.

OK, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that doesn't wanna go w/o cute outfits. I'll look into classes after I go shopping, but right now we have too much other stuff we need to spend our money on. So not for awhile. I'm gonna do my Pilates dvd today and probably take the dog for a walk later.
No exercise shows on OnDemand in Canada. NOT FAIR!!

Going to the gym right now.
You inspire me to go to the gym after reading how much you went last week. I felt lazy after reading your last post so I just got back from the gym today. I did a 40 min cardio session. 30 min running and 10min at 10. incline fast walking.
I've been bad bad bad eating taco hell, wendys, mcdonalds, cake, pizza.... I'm done now.

Ive set fitness goals, as well as weight goals.
By being able to meet the fitness goals, Ill lose weight as a side-effect.
In 1 year Im running a half marathon, and by xmas Ill be swimming 1500m 3 times a week, rather than 1000 once a week.
So my short term goals arent weight related, but steps to these long term goals.

I've been going to the gym for the past 8 or so months 3-5 x week, doing 40-60 minutes of cardio and 1-2 days of strength training. My bf got me a trainer, I start Thursday. Last week I started doing intervals so hopefully it'll help me because I'm not losing
