Note: automatic pooper scoopers are not the best in all situations. The comb gets all gummed up and sometimes cats are afraid of the mechanism and don't use it.

Pet stores sell mechanical pet toys..i think there's this one where it's a mousey on a pole...and it might be remote controlled?
Don't ever forget toys...they keep the cat occupied, so it won't be bored. Also, they love to hide in boxes...or even paper shopping bags laid on the side..maybe get one of those so it can play inside.
My kitty looves those little mice toys..the fuzzy ones with the tail...leave all those toys out...that'll help keep it busy.
But please if you're still planning on keeping the kitty, get an automatic litter scoop box so it will stop pooping on the floor. And experiment with different litters. You might even want to consider getting 2 litter boxes...so then when one is full, he'll go to the other one...and there'll be plenty of time for you to clean out the other one.
If you feel like you're too tired to give him enough affection, plllllllllease give him away to a humane society. It's really not fair to him. If you were the cat, would you like to be treated that way?
If you need to get 2 litter boxes so the cat can poop in the second one cause the first is full...if a eprson is that lazy..they still shouldn't have a cat.
When you take a pet, you take on responsibility. Cleaning litter boxes is part of it.
